Muffed punt return for a safety and a missed extra point already and its still the first half of the first game of the season.....good thing Frost got the special teams problems fixed over the off season

9-2 NU about halfway through the 2nd Q

The defense looks solid thus far..3 sacks and have knocked the starting QB out of the game.. Not overly excited though. The Illini are not necessarily an offensive juggernaut…

Martinez looks FLAT. We need to win this game with Illini using second string QB.

Very very uninspiring first half. Should be 9-9 but Frost got greedy on that QB run. Martinez likes to fumble, but that play shouldn't have been called, as well as the time out on offense at 1:42 before the fumble. Frost seems to like to create extra time for the other team to score. Same with running a play with 1 second left, only to have the QB sacked... That could have easily been another scoop and score opportunity for Illinois. I'll watch the rest of the game, but the product looks BAD.

If Nebraska somehow doesn't have a QB better than Martinez, write off the next 2 years in addition to this one. That offense has somehow regressed even further and I don't think it's first game issues.

Martinez may be great in practice, but I think when he gets on the field during a game things just get foggy for him and we see this type of result. He is not a “natural on the field” and looks like he over thinks things. He looks indecisive, he’s missing passes and turns the ball over. All of these things lead to losing. This was actually one of the few games I had Nebraska winning this year. They can still win today but it won’t be easy, no more mistakes and they might have a chance at a win.

In don’t think they do.. And it’ll likely cost Frost his job at the end of the season..

Other offensive observations, when Martinez does have time to throw, his receivers aren’t creating separation..and continual missed O-Line assignments/inconsistent play..

The defense looks improved..But-

Unless an epiphany occurs and sh!t gets cleaned up quickly- we’re headed for another 4-5 win Husker season folks…

They will be lucky to win 3 games this year, this is a bad product. Have you seen the schedule after Buffalo ? I see no wins after Buffalo except maybe Purdue or Mich State. Even if they win 4 games I’m not going to get excited about 4 wins, 6 maybe but not 4.

I'm glad i'm not too serious and can laugh about this.

Illinois 30-22

Great start boys, great start.

Illinois played ball the way we wish the Skers would play.

When it was 30-9, I thought it was going to wind up 44-9. I just hope the Sooners are kind enough to use lube.

After that ugly performance, I won't rule it out... They probably will beat Fordham, but a Buffalo loss is certainly not off the table after what I saw today. I don't like to use harsh words, but that performance was utterly despicable...

Oh that was UgLy!

Went to a Husker gathering down here in Tampa. There was excitement when game started but after fumble run back - the whole crowd was like here we go again.

Martinez looks no better than 2 years ago BUT NU pays a QB coach $375k for no improvement.

The line gives up 5 sacks (some due Martinez) and only 85 yds rushing on 37 carries + Martinez’s 75 yarder. The O line/run gets $500k

I don’t feel we are getting out money’s worth off those two coaches.

Who is Oliver Martin ? I’ve never heard of him before but he looked better than any of the Husker receivers today. If it wasn’t for him we would of probably not scored the last touchdown. He seems to be able to get open better than some of our other guys . I know it’s just one game but his play today was one of the few bright spots on offense. Wonder what’s up with Betts not seeing any catches, that’s a concern.

On top of the huge coaching salaries, they are also getting a new $150 million “Go Big” football facility, although that is being paid for from donations. But how long will that $ keep coming in without tangible positive results? (winning more games)

I read all the local articles about the loss to Illinois today. It looks like most of the shill reporters have come to the realization that Frost is a dead man walking and they are ready to cut him loose and stop helping him hawk his kool aide.

One thing the reporters got wrong showing their lack of knowing what they are talking about is that Illinois upset Nebraska. Nope. This was no upset because the team with the best talent and the best coach won. Illinois should of been a 7 1/2 point favorite. If Illinois and Nebraska played 4 more games this season Illinois is going to win 3 out of the 4 guaranteed.

The moment that broke the Huskers spirit..... not just for this game but for the entire season....was when Illinois came out at the start of the 3rd quarter and with their back up quarterback proceeded to methodically run the ball right at the Huskers and there was not a thing Nebraska could do to stop it. The farce that Nebraska had a good Defense was put out to pasture right there. Just like last year as bad as the Husker Offense is they are not near as bad as the Husker Defense.

I was encouraged with our pass rush yesterday, at times it looked good. We will win big this weekend at least 30 points ! The rest of the season will be extremely difficult, I’ve been told Buffalo isn’t as bad as I thought.

1: Replaced by whom? I bet there are more resumes submitted for Jen Psaki's job.

2: Frost sure as heck ain't going to fall on his sword and give up his contracted salary. Unless they can get him on cause, which I doubt and anyhow that rolling boulder would hit Moos first.

Which reminds me: Whenever I drove down I-35 past Norman, you used to see huge oil grasshoppers painted in OU's colors, as well as radar dishes for OU's Meteorology Department, the SPC, National Weather Service from the highway. Now it's a row of auto dealers, apartment complexes and other suburban trappings. Sorta reminds me of when WEECO/Lucent sold off the Omaha Works property.

No idea on number, but as of right now if you want a single seat through the ticket office, its row 73 of section 19 in the SW visitors nosebleeds. If you want 2 together, it's row 79.

My guess is this isn't too different from most years when the visiting team is non-marquee. Though most years they aren't trying to sell you Fordham while the football program is in whatever mode is three modes after dumpster fire mode.

CoachsHotSeat.com just came out today with this seasons first edition of the list. That web site is a lot of fun unless you are Scott Frost who just made the top of the list.

Quote from web site- "In 2021 we are going to do shorter blog posts on individual Head Coaches and their current situation either after the past weekend’s game or just before the coming week’s games and with that in mind we start the 2021 season with what was nothing short of a Complete and Total Disaster for Nebraska Football this past Saturday against Illinois and for one Scott Frost…."

Here's some answers and at least a good cause, which I'm sure will be completely shat upon by the you-know-whos around the state:

https://omaha.com/sports/huskers/footba ... hQRS2Hkukw
Two anonymous boosters purchased thousands of tickets for economically underserved children across the state through a program called the "Red Carpet Experience," which was developed by NU in the last month, Husker Athletic Director Trev Alberts told The World-Herald on Tuesday.

The idea was initiated by Lawrence Chatters, NU’s new senior associate athletic director for diversity, equity and inclusion. It will allow children in the eighth grade or younger, along with parents or guardians, to attend the Husker game against Fordham and get a free lunch as well.
Alberts said most of the 2,600 available tickets are part of Fordham’s 3,000-ticket allotment that went unsold to Rams’ fans.

Nebraska is a 40 point favorite this Saturday. This might just be the worst cup cake team Nebraska has ever played. This might be one of the few games this season where Nebraska covers the spread.
