Fortunately it didn’t and never really came close. Was nice to see so many second and third teamers in for D.

I did enjoy seeing Smothers come in. Such a pretty play on that deep pass. Also again showed promise on running some old school Nebraska option.

I didn't like that 3 touchdowns got called back because of penalties and that kicker couldn't even kick any field goals. He really needs to work on that.

Things could be worse for Nebraska. Take Florida State losing in dramatic fashion yesterday and now are off to an 0-2 start....

Oddsmakers have Oklahoma as a 22 1/2 point favorite this week over the Huskers. My first impression is Oklahoma is a pretty good bet. So far this season I have been on the right side of the spread every week. It seems unlikely that Nebraska could score more then 20 points on Oklahoma. It also seems unlikely that the sketchy Husker defense could hold Oklahoma below 40. Unless things go mighty awry for Oklahoma they should cover fairly easy.

Agree. 22.5 pointspread seems low, sad to say. |expletive|, it could be 21-0 by the end of the first quarter.

Surprisingly, the Skers haven't given up more than 30 in the last 7 games, albeit against mediocre opponents. They gave up 41 to Illinois and 52 to Ohio State last year...

I think with the playoff caliber Sooners, the Huskers will put up a defensive stinker. And the Offense just simply isn't good. I feel so confident in a blowout, that I will post it now and without much thought. I bet Oklahoma will be up at least 35-0 at the half.

Yeah both this and OSU will big losses. This is another game where like Fordham, I don't think we learn much. The talent discrepancy, this time in the opponents favor, plus on the road works towards a blowout.

Not sure why the point spread is that low, relatively spearking.

Bookies live off the Vig. They want equal pots on both teams. Make the spread too big, husker fans don’t bet and OU fans figure the odds aren’t that good for the payoff, so like bettors on a horse race where the favorite is down to a 5:2 odds, people quit betting. Leaving risk of a lopsided betting pool.

This game has blowout written all over it. I’m actually not even looking forward to it and might not even watch it. Nebraska has 2-3 Big10 games they have a reasonable chance at winning. Those games are huge and Frost must figure out a way to win those to get to 5 wins.

I took the day off specifically to watch this game a long time ago, well before the Illinois loss. Going into the game might have had a totally different anticipation at 3-0, and they stood a much better chance of getting to 6-6. That loss at Illinois royally screwed them.

I see 2 more reasonably winnable games, Northwestern and Purdue, and those are far from guarantees either. I think it'll be a miracle for them to finish 6-6, and the best path is to beat both Iowa and Michigan at home. I say that because Iowa is always a close game, and Michigan hasn't been the world beater the last couple years. This team ain't winning any away games.

Not joking..... Illinois and Northwestern are a few rungs higher on the ladder then Nebraska and it is farce anytime Nebraska is favored over them. Nebraska will need to be good and lucky to beat Northwestern. Northwestern is just a superior program by far.

That would be crazy if the game that Scott Frost cowardly tried to chicken out of turned out to be the game that saved him from being fired. If Scott Frost wins this game he will be officially off the hot seat for sure. That would be some dream scenario but now back to reality. Nebraska's Defense is a real stinker and Oklahoma scores 17 points in the first quarter and is leading 41-7 at half time.

Final Score Oklahoma 68 Nebraska 20

When Moos scheduled this game a few years back I think he thought by 2021 we would be farther along as a program. But Frost has been unable to move the meter much in his 4 years, we still basically suck. The defense is possibly marginally improved from years past. But the offense takes to long to “get going” and is prone to turnovers and silly mistakes, and special teams as we all have seen is terrible. This game will be a huge ugly embarrassment on national TV. I’m not even going to watch it and will do something else today. The only game I plan to watch today is Penn State/Auburn.

My prediction-

Oklahoma will defeat the Huskers by a significant margin.. My hope is, it’s not too much of an embarrassment with a national television audience watching :lafcry:

I'm already mad. I don't like the stripes on the pants or the black shoes. I hope that's a one off.

Okay, never mind. It obviously is since I noticed the faceguard is also not red. The whole thing is homage to the 50 year thing.

I like the hustle on D so far. Oklahoma scored, but they made 'em take 7 minutes to do it.

Pitiful offensive line play so far... BUT, I'm happy with how the offense pulled themselves out of their self-dug hole, and that was a pretty impressive field goal... I had no confidence in that, but he proved me wrong.

Too bad for that personal foul by the center, maybe they had a chance at 3rd and 4th down before that.

7-3 Oklahoma at the half..

Good to see the Huskers play with some pride and passion. They need to eliminate their stupid penalties..

Let’s see what the 2nd half brings…

Except for the Illinois game, Nebraska’s defense has played well this year. I still think we will lose this game but it’s going better than I thought. This is Frost best defense he’s had at Nebraska so far.

Very lucky the penalties havent resulted in points for Oklahoma. Actually without the penalties, I think the score could be 7-6 or good guys 10-7.

Anyway, this is quite surprising. All bets are off if the Skers can manage a TD out of the half to go up 10-7.

Very respectable performance by the Huskers today against heavily-favored OU, even with a loss. They actually had a chance to win it at the end, but it wasn’t to be.

I’m not big on moral victories.. But-

The Huskers went toe to toe until the very end and lost 23-16 on the road to a top 5 ranked team..

It stinks to lose, but they can hold their heads high in defeat.. After this game, I feel a bit better about NU’s chances to win these 50/50 games left on the schedule (Northwestern, Minnesota, Purdue, Iowa etc)…

It’s obvious the defense is better this year, no doubt about it. OU did what they needed to do to win today, I’m sure it wasn’t their best game. At least we’re weren’t blown out.

The season is young and rankings don't mean much yet. Oklahoma is no top 10 team. The Oklahoma passing game is weak and they lived off the run. The Husker defense just does not have the talent or speed to run down Oklahoma players quickly in the open field. Oklahoma runners often looked like they were playing against their little brothers or sister as they juked and danced around Husker defensive players time and time again evading tackles that should of been made. He is no Tom Brady and never will be but you got to give the game ball to Adrian Martinez as he was the one Nebraska player that did not suck and played pretty mistake free.

We got Duke up 7 over Northwestern in the first quarter. If Northwestern loses to Duke today you would have to think they are in dire straits and vulnerable this year.

Sooners are overrated. First, they almost pooch-screwed when playing Tulane, now this. I can understand phoning it in, but I could also see it biting them in the azz. I think Spencer Rattler will lose one game this year for the Sooners--he seemed to be free-lancing from time to time today. If he was playing for Bama, Saban would have benched him.

OTOH, Frost exhausted his playbook--and his players--today. Big question is if the team can build on this, or did they shoot their bolt.

We have another tough game next week. I hope we still have something left in the tank and didn’t have to many injuries today. Our defense kept us in the game today.

I like our chances against Purdue and Northwestern but other than those two anymore wins this year is going to be very difficult, but who knows anything can happen. I’m still thinking 4-8 or 5-7 for us this year. Martinez is having a good year so far, the Illinois game was his worst game but he has played very well since then. Just 1 interception in 4 games is good for him.

I thought Oklahoma was going to steamroll all over Nebraska. I was expecting them to win by at least 40 points. Thankfully, that didn't happen. Instead, Nebraska put up a fight especially on defense.

I don't want to say I was impressed with the Skers today. Delightfully surprised, definitely. I liked the way the defense played, though they left three interceptions on the table. I loved the overall pace of the game - I think each team only had one possession in the first quarter. I want those plays to be made, and the offensive line not to screw up so much, and those are difference makers that could have won this game... Having said that, I don't know if Oklahoma should be #3 after today - other near teams that won big should move up. I don't know that they'll be in playoff conversation by season's end. If the Skers had a crack at em, then, well
