We went to the one on 144th and West Center a couple times, but not the one on 120th and West Center.
So including that one, there are/was locations at 175th, 144th, Oakview Mall, 120th, 90th, 52nd. Lots of BKs to choose from along Center. Quantity over quality I reckon.

How about this chain of 'em -- a BK near 72nd and Blondo, one at 76th & Dodge, one when it was in the Mart near 72nd & Pacific, and one at 72nd & Grover?

I drove by the Burger King on 144th & Center Sunday afternoon and they were closed. I think they are still open but just not all the time!

I guess I never fully realized how saturated Omaha is with BKs. If you really think about all the locations, there are so many so close that it is almost comical. Way more dense than even McDonald's.

Re: Burger King (177th & W Center Rd)
Oh my god. I moved to Bellevue about 10 months ago. I went to that 42nd and 370 BK maybe 6 months ago on a whim. HORRID! I received onion rings that were cold in the center. The cheeseburgers I received looked like they'd been run over by a tire they were so flat and unappealing. The drive through took forever and the staff they had in there seemed to be laughing, giggling, and having a great time. The only thing they got right was when I asked for onion ring sauce, they threw about 10 packs of it in my bad...which was overkill, but whatever.skinzfan23 wrote: Tue Aug 24, 2021 3:45 pm Not sure who they are all owned by but the one at Hwy 370 and 42nd St. is terrible as well. Usually only 3 people working, so the dining room is indefinitely closed and the drive-thru takes forever.
I haven't been to a BK since. Every one of their stores are unappealing and stuck in the 90's. The food has been terrible the last few times I've tried it. I don't know about nationally, but it's kind of a franchise that deserves to die, at least in Omaha, because the franchisees in this city clearly have no interest in operating a well run fast food restaurant with decent food. Reminds me of what happened to Wendy's in this market. In the 80's and 90's, you'd have struggled to find a better fast food burger than Wendy's, but now, it's become almost inedible and cooked in dirty stores.

I guarantee I remember DQ/Orange Julius on the north end of the east side, but that is all I solidly remember. I felt like there was a BK, but I could be mistaken. Most of my solid memory of Crossroads was in the declining phase and at that time (mid 90s to early 2000's) I definitely remember a chicken place, an Asian place and a Sbarro on the west side with the DQ for sure on the north end of the east side. Maybe we can piece that together.

I'd gone to Crossroads a few times when I lived in Omaha. Back then, the second floor wasn't sealed off. I don't recall ever going to their food court though. I went to Westroads' when they first opened it in 1991. I thought it was a really cool place.

Re: Fast food (including BK) talk thread
You are correct on the DQ/ Orange Julius. It was there I think opening of the food court and lasted a while. They also had a local Mexican place that had the largest bay that took up most of the southside, maybe Paltani's? After a while it closed and became Amigo's.Busguy2010 wrote: Mon Oct 04, 2021 4:29 pm I guarantee I remember DQ/Orange Julius on the north end of the east side, but that is all I solidly remember. Sbarro probably had the longest run.
I think Imperial palace might have been the original asian place but it might have been great wall.

If Crossroads hadn't gone into decline and still had their second floor open to the public including their food court, here's what I envision being in there:
McDonald's, Taco Bell, A&W, Runza, Sbarro's, Subway, Orange Julius, Raising Cane's and probably some Chinese or Japanese food place like Imperial Palace. Or Maybe Golden Wok?

There's a chance you might have served me when I was a kid going to Sbarro... I literally went there like 3 or 4 times a week for a good while.jag42 wrote: Tue Oct 05, 2021 7:04 pm I worked at Sbarro at Crossroads as a teenager and do not recall a BK ever being in the food court. But on the BK, if there ever were a BK there, it would have been on the east side if there's any chance my memory is correct. I could just be mistaking it for the DQ. Maybe being a kid I just remember the blue and red.

Why it matters, is beyond me.. But-
I don’t recall a BK at Crossroads. Westroads and Oakview, yes. Not that I remember at Crossroads..
Further, I don’t recall Imperial Palace at Crossroads..maybe? Just don’t recall.. However, an Imperial Palace Express was definitely at Westroads Food Court…

Re: Fast food (including BK) talk thread
Thanks, that is a little saddening, but it brings back a lot of memories. This might be the first time I've seen my beloved Sbarro bay since they closed off the upstairs. And obviously its all gone now. I know its goofy, but I love Sbarro. Probably because I went there so many times as a kid with my dad and my best friend. I took the bus, got off at the transit center, walked to the food court, and got my order. It depended, but I would get the stuffed pizza, slice of pizza, or stromboli - with a side salad or a side of bread sticks and a drink. And I always had to have them dump a bunch of extra sauce on my pizza (I'm sure they hated me for it). I think it was like $6. It was literally like my favorite place growing up and it was my place to go on a weekend up until they left Crossroads, then finally left Westroads in like 2015. If I go out of town to a place that does have Sbarro, I almost always try to make a point to get it, or if I don't then it feels like a missed opportunity. I know, weird.jag42 wrote: Tue Oct 05, 2021 7:21 pm Since for now, the topic has turned to the Crossroads Mall food court, here's a link to some stunning drone pics looking into the food court after the double-tent was ripped apart by wind:

Living just east of Dundee and now being 46, Crossroads was always our first mall to visit. I remember when they had the circular restaurant or whatever they called it… I think it served hot dogs and had those “juice” fountain machines that looked like the juice was running down the sides.bigredmed1 wrote: Wed Oct 06, 2021 6:07 pmThere were restaurants there. Also remember a sandwich shop of sorts near one of the ends. Woolworth’s had a restaurant too… and they had the basement in their store with their own escalators… I think that’s where the toys were (downstairs) and small animals/fish!
Man, places are just not the same anymore. Guess that’s what it’s like to get old - you miss things from when you were a kid, including dumb things like going to Younkers at Crossroads and looking at Swatch watches. I think they sold Leggoons, too (which most ppl haven’t heard of).
If I had Warren Buffett money, I’d create a Peony Park and toss some places in with it like Moby Dick waterslides… WC Franks (another Omaha classic) and some other fun stuff.

My problem? BK is trash! BK is garbage! BK is an unhealthy grease trap! Omaha and Nebraska would be so much better if BK closed up and went away. We don't need them. Most of us don't want them. Go support a local restaurant, you will be much happier.

If you don't want to go to Burger King, then don't go. But don't tell everybody else not to go there. You don't speak for all of Omaha or the entire state of Nebraska nor do you have the right to dictate what restaurants people do or don't go to.Toto wrote: Wed Oct 06, 2021 11:44 pmMy problem?
