Unexpectedly Long Continuous Roads

Post by Busguy2010 »

Alright, I got a weird one for ya, but it could be some fun to discuss. I was driving on Hamilton Street yesterday from 30th street and I realized I could have taken it all the way to 72nd. Technically there is a small jog at 52nd, but really you can practically drive straight across 52nd if there is no traffic on 52nd. So if you don't count that little jog, you can travel all the way from 18th where it is called Paul St, to 72nd.

Any others? I'm talking not the big main roads such as Fort, Maple, Blondo, Dodge, Pacific, Leavenworth, Center, that you would expect. It has to be a road that carries a pretty significant amount of traffic on one part, but is a neighborhood street on the other, so you wouldn't expect that it is actually that long. It doesn't have to have the same name the whole way through.

I've got a couple more off the top of my head... Grover Street. You can take it without making any turns, all the way from 84th, down to 11th where it terminates as Vinton. 16th Street. You can take all the way from just north of Reed street all the way up by the river, through downtown, down south where it turns into F Street, which you can take to 60th.

The boulevard system comes to mind.

Another one is Cass/Underwood/California.

major road in a few stretches. but 168th from Hwy 370 all the way north to Hwy 36 is still a good long continuous road.
My old signature got too old. So old it was getting almost as old me as me. Yeah, it was up there in years.

Right! I forgot to mention those. Cass/California/Underwood go all the way from 30th to ~87th.

Yeah, but I was going for more off roads, ones you wouldn't expect to be so long.

That's a good one, but it is actually from 94th to where it turns into 134th and terminates at Industrial Road.

Another one around there is 67th/F/102nd. It starts at 67th & L, and ends at 102nd & Mockingbird.

Grand Ave, 31st Ave to 60th Ave

Redman/Hartman/Crown Point from 42nd to 86th-ish

48th St from Davenport to C (SB only, NB has to go right on Saddle Creek then left on Leavenworth)

50th St is an arterial in its southern part, but goes from L all the way north to Ruggles

North from W 29th Ave in Old Towne Bellevue: Franklin St -->Harvell-->Cornhusker-->6th St (Papillion)-->Portal-->108th from Giles to Frances

And the big one. Start at 84th and Frederick. Frederick-->90th-->Sorensen-->Storz-->Abbot Dr-->Cuming-->NW Radial-->Military Ave-->Blair High Rd all the way to the roundabout at US 30 outside of Blair. Even crosses itself at 90th/Sorensen and Blair High

Nice ones!

I just realized I was wrong about 16th. In a different day and age it would have worked, but not today. Still, Dodge to 60th & F is pretty far.

I really like that last one you shared. I don't remember exactly, but before the roundabout, couldn't you continue without making a "turn" (like a stop and turn) all the way to South Sioux City.

To continue on this one, you could come from Blair High RD, continue all the way to Abbott and Storz, and instead take JJ Pershing Dr and continue up along the river, and end up on a road called Pony Ridge Lane, which is somebody's driveway up north of Neale Woods.

I just found a really good one. 20th & F, south on 20th > Gilmore Ave > 25th St > Schneekloth > 42nd St, to terminate at the Platteview Golf Club south of Platteview Rd. Includes gravel and at grade railroad crossing.

And another! I'm having fun killing time looking for them. Curtis at 30th, west to 52nd south to Leavenworth.

60th St. South from Northern Hills Drive all the way south to Western Ave…. then it curves into Webster, which runs into Happy Hollow Blvd which winds south to Leavenworth, then 60th picks up again at the end of Leavenworth and heads south all the way to Harrison. That’s almost the whole north-south distance of Douglas County with a little detour through Memorial/Elmwood Park.

Here's an interesting one that ends a couple blocks from where it starts, but is about 2 miles.

Start at 33rd & Weber, north on 33rd > North Ridge Dr > Howell > 31st south to Forest Lawn.
