Iowa really hasn't beaten anybody who is anybody as of this point in the season, plus they lost to Purdue by 17 when our boys only lost by 5, they lost to Wisconsin by 20 when the Skers lost by 7. They only scored 17 on Northwestern when the boys scored 56. They did take care of business against Minnesota and Illinois, so I have a little bit of concern that they are riding a streak of confidence, but...

I like our odds here. Iowa scores a defensive touchdown, a safety, and a special teams touchdown, and Iowa's lack-luster offense puts one up to make it look ugly. Iowa up 23-14 at the half. Iowa thinks they have it in the bag and come out of the half flat. The Huskers show their fight once again and put up 14 points in the third quarter to Iowa's 3. The 4th quarter is a stalemate with the game coming down to a final punt return by Iowa that disappointingly puts them at them at their 40 yard line with 30 seconds left. The Huskers hold them to 9 yards in the 3 downs, and with 6 seconds left, Iowa throws up a Hail Mary that is suspensefully doinked into the air multiple times, but gladly falls to the ground...

Huskers 28-26. :banger:

The only signature win Iowa has this season was beating then-5-0 Penn St.@ home. Since then Penn st is only 2-4 and during that Iowa game, they dominated Iowa until Clifford got hurt.

One post I saw on Iowa's board stated that if they had the Husker's schedule this year, they would be 6-6 at best, which is probably true.

I'd agree with that. If they had played the same teams, they would likely be 5-6 going into the last game against the Huskers. And you could argue that the Huskers should be 6-5, except they blew Illinois, Purdue, and Minnesota... No reason to be intimidated, and I hope the boys believe that too.

I just heard Martinez won't play this game. That changes a lot. Good or bad, it remains to be seen.

Nebraska went from a 4 point favorite to a 1 point underdog. Suspect that Iowa will win by at least 7. The bookies have to edge on Nebraska’s side to get betting going.

As I have said before, the one QB plan is a plan that is inherently weak and the remaining guys have no game experience. Going to be interesting.

Greg
a 3-8 Team opening as a favorite against a what, 9-2 or so team? Boy Vegas/Casinos/etc is trying to get some bets on this one.

That said, I know enough Iowa fans that I will be actively rooting for Nebraska this Friday.
Haha nice! The 2021 Huskers need all the support they can get :;):

You better be pulling for Gretna to take the Class A title tonight.

I remember a few short years ago when Gretna moved to A that the Lincoln and Omaha papers along with others that covered high school football saying that they would never be competitive in class A I repeat never. Now they are in the Championship game!

When does the new Gretna High School open? Assuming they'll be back in B once that happens. Sounds like Bennington will be most likely to replace them in A with their growth.

Some of the talk coming from the school is that likey one will be A and one will be B. Nothing is for sure though.

The new high school (Gretna East) will open fall of 2023. The mascot for the new High School was recently decided and it will be the Griffins. Colors will be Gold / Black / Silver

A third middle school is planned for the 2025 school year

Another NU game..another mind numbing, absolutely STUPID loss. This Husker team is the most unintelligent football team I have ever seen..

28-21 Iowa..

Special teams? FAIL.

Offensive line? FAIL..

Run Defense in the 4th quarter? Fail..

Interceptions and fumbles? Of course..

Good riddance 2021 NU football. 3-9 finish and an embarrassment…

The moment adversity strikes, Frost's teams fold. You could literally bet with 100% accuracy that once that Punt got blocked, everything was going to go to heck and it did.

I do think Smothers has more promise than Martinez, but that line and the overall psyche of the team is a hot mess.

Like I’ve said all along this season, NU can ALWAYS find a way to lose. A new way to blow a substantial lead. They almost never fail to lose.

Ran out of talent, and the Hawkeyes were like the Borg. They adapted.

Ready for your minds to be boggled and numbed some more? How about this:

Conference record: 1-8
Points for (conf): 239
Points against (conf): 239

Im guessing this is the first-ever 3-9 final record, just because for a long time played only 10 game schedules, then 11 game schedules.

They had a couple two-win seasons in the 50's, but that was when they only played 8 games. This is the first 9 loss season ever.

Pretty easy to say we are in the midst of the worst period of Husker football ever seen.

Doesn’t make any difference whether it is by 1 pt or 30 pts - still a loss.

Poor play calling. You at your own 5 and you call a pass with a newbie QB and an offensive line that has not protected your QB in several previous weeks.

Also you have a RB back who runs like 11 times in the first half and only 2 times in the second half

For me, this makes it sting a little less. Yes, for some a loss is a loss, but for me, they were close losses to some of the best teams in the country week in and week out, and they showed up week in and week out. Only inexcusable loss was Illinois, really. Everybody else is either ranked in the top 15-ish right now, top 5ish (Ohio State, Michigan, Oklahoma), or barely outside the top 25 (Minnesota, Purdue). The schedule was brutal to say the least. The boys aren't there, but they are so freakin' close.
