Anybody remember this place? I sometimes think of it coming back from Husker games. I went to UNL from 86-90 and remember it was operating then and always wanted to go but never did>

I remember it. I skied there once as a kid. Seemed like the top of the ski lift was visible from I80 long after the place closed.

You can still see the trails on Google Earth.

I had no idea that Nebraski had five lifts. I wonder if anyone on this forum remembers this place well enough to compare it to Mt. Crescent.

I skied there once. It was a pretty place with a nice lodge , but from what I remember it was seldom open, just not enough snow. Mt Crescent in Council Bluffs is just a little bit colder over there and seems to be able to keep its snow longer.

I also noticed while traveling a small hill just north of Kearney on hwy 10, I suspect that it was a very small ski hill at one time possibly back in the 70’s or 80’s during the ski craze and has since closed. All that’s left is a rope tow.

Nebraska currently has zero ski areas. I think Iowa is down to 2 or 3. I believe Mt Crescent is the oldest ski area in Iowa, older than larger Sundown in Dubuque. Mt Crescent has been in continuous operation for over 50 years.

10 miles north, it was literally just a rope tow set up on a golf course. The slope faced north, I was surprised to see the rope tow in the middle of Nebraska. It looked like just one run. Be a place to practice and make sure your equipment is working, that’s about it. On Google earth it’s hard to see because of no trees but the golf course is very easy to find.

Glad someone started this thread. My kids grew up skiing at Crescent and wish they'd have had the opportunity to try this.

We are season pass holders at Crescent.

I think there is enough demand where if you could find a north facing slope with at least 200ft drop you could fill it (in the west side of town)

I remember NebraSKI when I was a kid. Funny seeing a slope on I-80 out of the blue.

You used to be able to see one on the top of the bluff as you came eastbound around the curve just past the Platte, but it's probably been 10+ years since it was removed.

At one time the land had been repurposed into a paintball course.

Today, there are no active ski areas in Nebraska. At least they have Omaha Steaks, though.
