The 7:00pm start times are far preferable to me since I now live in the eastern time zone. The 8PM Central start times (or later) are brutal.

I’m sure they are if you’re living in EST..

I didn’t realize you lived outside of the Omaha area.. Care to share what part of the country you’re living in now and how long you’ve been away from Omaha?…

Moving to Indiana to be closer to family (the MUCH lower taxes are a bonus). Actually just found a house today, so will be heading back to Omaha to pack up after Christmas (staying with parents until then).

In other news, I'll be curious to see how the Jays come out tonight against Zona State. After the big win, will they come out sluggish or ready to roll? Hope they're in the right mindset to put this team away with Nova looming on the horizon.

Now this game, I’ll say it’s pretty much a bad home loss- the Jays can’t throw the ball in the ocean the last 7 minutes and completely lay an egg at the free throw line..the Jays missing those throws is inexcusable.. Missing 6 free throws down the stretch cost CU this game..

Kalkbrenner played well, but everyone else..completely inconsistent.. Growing pains in full effect..heading into conference play against much better competition..

Arizona St- 58
Creighton- 57…

Very poor second half from the Jays. That was very disappointing to see as the Jekyll and Hyde nature reared its ugly head.

Agreed with Cowboy, that was a bad home loss against a not so great Zona State team.

Yep definitely a bad loss. I think Kalk might be our best FT shooter lately. AOC is just too inconsistent on both offense and defense. He gave up the easy layup in the final min or so.

Looking at stats, Nembhard was leader in assists with 8 but also was the leader in turnovers with 6. Creighton shot 20% from 3 pt area… not good

Nembhard just seems to dribble down the court as fast as he can and then gets stuck quite a few times. I understand that they want to push pace, but he needs to be smarter with the ball.

I wish they would have worked it inside a little more last night. Late in the game, every time they did it was a bucket or a foul on ASU.

Nembhard is struggling from the weight he thinks he carries in trying to create opportunities, plus his inexperience. Once he gets his feet under him, and the other young players grow around him, I think he'll be a great consistent player. It's just going to be very difficult when those who do have experience, like Hawkins and OConnell, both have crappy games on top of the inexperience at other positions.

These types of games will happen this year, I just hope they happen less and less as the season progresses. That said, the Big East looks incredibly tough this year, so this will be a true trial by fire year.

Completely agree.

I think everyone knew this year was going to full of ups and downs and we experienced that within the last 3 games (ISU, BYU, ASU)

AOC needs to be a bit more consistent.

Surprisingly, there are still quite a few tickets left for the game which is weird with a Friday 7 pm start against the 9th ranked team in the nation.

Here is an interesting stat from bluejayundergound in regard to 3pt%:

Home games:
APB 7-25 28%
KennSt 1-19 5%
SIUE 6-21 28%
NDSU 6-15 40%
ISU 6-19 32%
ASU 5-25 20%
Overall at Home - 31 - 124 = 25% 4/6 games under 30% from 3

Road/Neutral games:
Neb 10-23 44%
Brown 5-14 36%
CSU 7-22 32%
SIU 6-14 43%
BYU 8-24 33%
Overall away from CHI - 36 - 97 = 37% 5/5 games over 30% from 3

Wow..

What a difference a couple of days make..

The Jays rickshaw roll #9 Villanova in the stretch drive of the 2nd half..

Creighton- 79
Villanova- 59..

Fantastic bounce back performance. I’m sold that this season, the Jays will give us fans some pretty sweet highs..and also some pretty down lows..

In the end, dominating a Jay Wright coached team is soooo sweet. Great home crowd too..fantastic way to open up conference play. I’m just going to enjoy this one…

Great win by the Jays just wish they could have won against ASU, they would definitely be ranked next week then but with a young team that may not be the best thing early in the season.

On a sidenote the Jays have still not lost on a Friday at CHI, they are 25–0!

Man I wish the Jays wouldn't have upset that one against Arizona St away. Their only other 2 losses are to 2 of the remaining 6 undefeated teams in the nation. (ISU opens conference play vs Baylor at Hilton so that will be a tough matchup but one that can improve Creighton's NET ranking if ISU pulls off the upset)

According to Jon Rothstein, the Big East is going to reclassify forfeitures and try to reschedule games moving forward.

Not sure what that means yet for last Monday's game vs DePaul. Are the Jays going back to 1-0 in conference play and reschedule, or is this only going to be going forward?

In the tweet it mentions moving forward so I assume (although all in theory as this is coming from Jon) that this means the forfeits that have happened will remain. Going forward they'll attempt to reschedule.... although this switch mid season is kind of silly as what happens when we get near the end of the season and can't make up games again?

Edit: I assumed wrong

So this could potentially hurt Creighton because as it was, we were supposed to travel to Chicago and then have a break until the 28th. Now, if the game is re-scheduled, it may have to be squeezed into a tight time frame.

Creighton does have a break in the schedule from Feb 12-20, unfortunately Depaul plays on Feb 12,15,19,24, so that probably won't work for them.

Now the Jays' Tuesday matchup with Georgetown is cancelled as well. This is going to be a long season.

Maybe the Jays can fill the gap by rescheduling the DePaul game during this time.

This is going to be a mess by the end of the year. Uneven game totals are going to be a cluster to sort out fairly.

Is there any way for Creighton to schedule any other team to CU any time during this break? This appears to be a long wait team?

Last year the uneven number of games cost CU the league title, Nova won based on winning % even though they played 3-4 fewer games.

Agreed..

Every time a game gets cancelled, it sickens me (pardon the pun)..

This pandemic continues to suck the joy out (and away) of the simple pleasure of watching your favorite college basketball team take the court and compete against a worthy conference opponent. It seems like nearly 2 months since the Jays ran Villanova out of the arena by 20 points…
