Yeah that was too close, kinda been a roller coaster kinda season. Thankfully they won that one. You could tell Kalk was hurting, wonder how the game would have been different if he was healthy? Either way, it was a win and the Jays are still alive.

Well, it was close, but at least the Jays defended home court. If they’d have lost that game to Butler, that probably would have qualified as the worst conference loss of the season thus far..

The Jays need to keep winning at home and steal another road win…

Another update: Xavier beat UCONN tonight and if the Jays can get the win tomorrow, they will be tied to for 4th place.

On a side note: rumor is Kaluma is out 2-3 weeks with a bone bruise on his knee, hopefully that isn’t the case. Also John Christofilis is out for the season with a foot injury, not that he was seeing many minutes anyhow.

Jays playing well in the first half, need to cut down on TOs, what’s new, but Hawk is on fire and Kalk looks much better today. 32pts and 16 boards between the 2 at half. Jays lead 42-37

Obviously it was just Georgetown but Creighton had 26 assists on only 30 baskets which is a great number. Hawkins finished with a career high 30 points and Kalkbrenner finished with a career high 15 rebounds

Hawkins went all Wragge style on the Hoyas, and in a league like this where anyone can sneak up on anyone, I will gladly take this performance. It was good to see the rhythm back on offense.

With Butler beating Marquette today, the Jays are tied for 3rd place in the conference, and who would have thought they would be there at this point in the season?

Providence held on to win in OT, even though DePaul had a terrible record they are at least competing this year.

Good win last night by the Jays...very hard to beat a team twice in 3 days. For a while, it looked like the Jays were going to run away with it, but then the TOs started coming with GU's press and a 23pt lead was down to 7, thankfully they made enough FTs in the last few min to pull out.

I wish we played GT every night, with the way our guys were shooting the ball and getting dunks.

I agree. Another nice win for the Jays last night sweeping the Hoyas in a 3 day period..

So looking at the remaining schedule- the Jays are sitting at 16-8 right now. I think 19 regular season wins might get them an at large bid into the NCAA Tournament..Especially if one of those wins are against either Providence or UCONN.. I think 20 regular season wins heading into the Big East Tournament is enough to get them in the Big Dance regardless if they have an early exit in the conference tournament..

What do my fellow Jays fans think?…

I agree, 20 would get them in... 19 might be close. That pesky stupid NET Rating may come into play, but if they beat Prov that might solve itself as long as they don't have any complete meltdowns.

Who'd thought this team who lost all of their starters from last year, and with a bunch of underclassmen, would be in a spot to talk Tourney at this point of the year?

Edit: And it's also complete |expletive| that they didn't reschedule the Providence home game for Creighton, unless I missed it. What garbage again from the Big East.

Its a tough call for the Jays....I say if the finish with 20 wins, they are in. 19 and they are on the bubble. If they can beat Providence or uconn, they should get in....that would be 4 top-25 wins on the season.

I keep complaining about it but there is no way Iowa should be ranked as high as they are in the NET (19th). Even their fans can't believe it. They are 0-5 in Quad 1 and haven't beaten anyone ahead of them in the Big 10 standings. We will see how they finish, they have a tough stretch with home and away with MI, @ #18 Ohio St, #19 Mich St and @ #12 Ill.

I just hope the committee looks at things like this when considering teams, just b/c you are in a good conference, you haven't shown the ability to beat any good teams. I do believe that is something they look for, more so than if you have a bad loss like the Jays. It just drives me nuts, because a team like Iowa looks like a lock right now, and without a great win or two, they should be a bubble team at best at this point.

With the mask mandate being lifted does that mean that events at CHI including Creighton won't require it?

Its actually kind of funny, because everyone wears a mask to get in but only about 20% of the people leave with one on at the Creighton games.

To your point, my hope was at this time of the season, the Jays would secure enough wins and improve to a point where a solid NIT bid was possible..

They’ve exceeded my expectations at this stage of the season for sure…

They just announced, to no surprise, they won't make Providence come to Omaha this year to make up the game that was missed due to Covid. Yet, we have to go there to face them.

I think that Creighton should get the option to play the game @ Prov. This is ridiculous, I understand that the rescheduling is out of anyone's control, but just like last year when Nova won the conference by playing 5 fewer conference games, Creighton is getting screwed again.

I think another valid option should be to play Providence in Omaha instead of RI.

Hawkins hits another buzzer-beater 3 to put the Jays in the lead. Gunna need someone else to make some shots in the 2nd half.
