Zac Taylor
I wonder how many Husker fans are oblivious to the recent success of former QB Taylor (no, not that one) in the NFL. I'd say with the win over KC to clinch their division, he's a leading candidate for coach of the year.. Cincy hadn't seen a winning season since 2015.
With the Whipple offense, we could use another Zac Taylor. Always liked that guy.. great to see the success he's having.

I think the true Fans of Football, not the ones that put on red and go to a game or three to tailgate, have a good handle on what he has accomplished. I know the Husker FB board that I follow has a number of threads through the years following his success.
For the record NEBUGEATER does not equal BUGEATER !!!!!!!

Re: Zac Taylor
Yeah, I knew. He was a good QB, and is looking to be a good, successful, young coach in the NFL. He was hired by the Bengals in 2018, I wonder if he was even considered for coach of the Huskers at the same time as Scott Frost, or would he not have been interested?

I think the logical thing would have been to hire Zac Taylor when he was available in 2018 instead of Scott Frost. Nobody was talking about it at the time though, so maybe that wasn't an option, At this point, with the general good results he's having in the NFL, there's no way he would come here if there was an opening. Maybe he was never interested in coaching college, and his resume would support that thought.

Plus he'd spent the bulk of his time coaching in the NFL. I think it made more sense the way he went. He's been talked about quite a bit on the Husker Facebook Groups I am in but haven't seen any speculation on him being the Huskers Coach. I think everyone is pretty pleased he got Cincy turned around (he got off to a rough start and there was speculation on his job status at the end of last year). I think most realize that until it goes south he's the Bengals Coach for the foreseeable future.

Barring the Steelers somehow scratching out an improbable win tomorrow against the Chiefs, the Bengals are most likely to head to Nashville to take on the 1 seed Titans... Is that really that scary though? There has been so much parody this NFL season.

Yeah we had a couple blowouts but I do think that there is no prohibitive favorite this year.

Re: Zac Taylor
Yeah, especially after yesterday, all the team's left now, I feel like I could see in the SB... The Bills, Chiefs, and Bucs looked especially good. I'm really disappointed in the Cowboys, I like their players and OC, but I'm not sold on the HC. They |expletive| the bed that game.

Cincinnati beat Titans 19-16 with last second field goal. Cinch moves to AFC Championship for the first time since 1988.

Re: Zac Taylor
So its Bengals vs Chiefs, and 49ers vs Rams.
I couldn't care less who wins the NFC championship, because I like both Matthew Stafford and Jimmy Garoppolo. Rooting for Matthew Stafford because he deserves it after all these years, and I was a pseudo-Lions fan because of him. Rooting for Jimmy GQ because he's a former Patriot. I suppose I'd lean more toward the underdog in the 49ers, but wouldn't be disappointed either way.
Now, for the AFC championship, I'm definitely rooting for the Bengals. I think it's a long shot, but not too long... The Bengals appear to be actually good.

Bengals going to SuperBowl. Win in OT 27-24 after being down 21-10 at halftime.

Now rooting for the 9ers because Jimmy G is a former Patriot, and the Rams knocked off Tom Brady, though I wouldn't be too disappointed either way cause I like Matthew Stafford.

Re: Zac Taylor
So Rams and Bengals it is... How unexpected. My guess when the playoffs started was Bills and Buccaneers.
So now, I will squarely be rooting for the Bengals, but I can't be disappointed if the Rams win. I think they more than likely will win. Interestingly, before last year, no team had ever made a super bowl that was played in their home stadium... And now its happened two years in a row.

You know what would be strange, next time LA hosts the Super Bowl, if both the Chargers and Rams made it after they both host their respective conference championships in the same stadium on the same day....wonder how that would work?

Re: Zac Taylor
Ha, that would be awesome. Not sure when the AFC West plays the NFC West, but it has to happen every handful of years. Same thing can happen in New York, if they ever host the SB again. By the time that happens, maybe the Jets and Giants stand a chance of being good again.jag42 wrote: Mon Jan 31, 2022 7:01 pm You know what would be strange, next time LA hosts the Super Bowl, if both the Chargers and Rams made it after they both host their respective conference championships in the same stadium on the same day....wonder how that would work?

Former Husker QB Zac Taylor ready to coach the Bengals in the Super Bowl
Bengals coach Zac Taylor had six wins in his first two seasons with Cincinnati. But the former Husker quarterback still believed greater things were coming.

From the archives: Zac Taylor breaks down his only completion while playing for Wake Forest
Before playing for the Huskers, Zac Taylor had only one completion in his NCAA career. "That's the best pass I've ever thrown in my life," Taylor said in 2005.

Darn it! Ugh, the Bengals had the game, even in the final minute. On 2nd &1, they call a throw away, third down run, and 4th down might as well have been a sack. I did not like that final playcalling sequence. Oh well. I get the feeling they'll be back. Good game and happy for Stafford and Donald.

Just got signed to a contract extension through 2026. What a difference a year makes as he was on the hot seat this time last year.
