I went by there last week, and they were doing some musical bingo thing. It reminded me of some other bars that had tried this right before going under. So 1, it didn't feel like inner rail was doing great (although packed).

And 2, maybe it's just me. I hated it. I'd prefer to not go somewhere I like and not being able to find a seat or hear the guests I go with...

Sam Noddle just said on Grow Omaha that one of the Breweries in Nebraska is opening a Tap Room in Aksarben.

The one thing I picked up on was he said a "Nebraska Native" Brewery.... Boiler Brewing has a beer called "Nebraska Native".

That would be awesome if it was Boiler. But they have their Lincoln Taproom. Maybe Noddle was just trying to throw us off

I believe Breweries can have up to 3 satellite Tap Rooms in the state, so that would only eliminate Thunderhead. Kinkaider and Zipline still have one more, and everyone else has at least 2.

I had no idea there was a limit to how many tap rooms they can have. Weird.

No problem.

It looked like the area near Dewey Dog Park, and of course Center and Saddle Creek got hit much harder. Some washed away car was still on center for example.

Liv Lounge is definitely out - I just walked by there and their sign is gone now and much of their furniture/bar stools are out in their patio area with a "free furniture" sign on them.

I'm fairly sure this is where Kinkaider is going...

Some of the parking garages by where Blue Cross/Blue Shield is located had some standing water in them with small debris scattered around on the lower level. Haven't noticed any damage though but still interesting to see that stuff inside a parking garage and pretty telling how high the water level was in some areas anyway...

It is. I walked by the other day and saw a sign on the door indicating that Kinkaider was to occupy this spot.

The “upscale Indian” restaurant coming to Ak Village is the Saffron Urban Kitchen based on the liquor license application at 67th & Frances. They have renderings of what it will look like on their Facebook page. UPDATE: Even though I searched before posting this I discovered Coyote had posted the info in a different forum. This needs to be deleted but I don’t have the privileges to do it. Sorry!

Here was a hey wait, "what dis" moment. I was binge watching a series, called Orphan Black, and got to Season 4, Episode 9 at 2:58 and a shot at a screen caught my eye..

It was an older photo of Aksarben Village, just after BCBSNE finished construction.

The building was used in the show as a highlight of urban renewal project from the New corporate headquarters for a neighborhood the sick CEO was from. Obviously, there is way more to the story, but im not going to say more.

Here is the shot:

They are planning for more permanent amenities on the lot north of the HDR building and south of the garage:
  • Public pop-up park
  • Public dog park
  • Pickle ball courts
  • Resurfacing and enhancements of the public open area with the existing airstream trailer/entertainment area
  • A canopy for the public outdoor entertainment
  • Greenhouse
  • Volleyball courts and other public amenities

I am surprised that the apt project on both sides of the parking garage hasn't happened yet. Wasn't that first mentioned 3-4 years ago?

Most of these are already present, and have been since last summer. Are they re-doing the current amenities? Or just asking for money for them after the fact? Pickleball courts will be a huge hit and the dog park could use a little work, but I think the area around Sonny's is just about perfect.

I didn't look at that doc that closely, but someone must have screwed up with the documents in front of the board b/c most of the pages are describing the HDR downtown proposal.

I don't think it's been officially announced but a very reliable source has told me that "Toast" (which has offices in downtown Omaha and is headquartered in Boston) is leasing out a portion of the 3rd floor of this building in Aksarben for additional offices (space once used by Kewit until they built a new HQ downtown). It may also be a portion of the 2nd floor as well but I'm not sure. Construction/remodel is set to begin soon...

I wonder if there is ever thought of them building a new building. Isn't their current building downtown the one proposed for renovation?

I believe it is - could be they are temporarily moving offices to Aksarben during the renovation? No idea tbh. I work in this building and have been told that "Toast" will be our new neighbor...so I'm pretty confident it's accurate anyway

They may be a large reason for the remodel: Wanting to lease for X years but need more space.

Grow Omaha just announced a seven story office building where the volleyball courts are on the southside of the HDR parking garage. And then just to the east of that also on the southside the parking garage will be a six story apartment building. Designing this year construction maybe start the end of the year or beginning of 2023.

I believe on the south side of the HDR garage, but still plenty of land on the north side of the garage.

There are also a couple of smaller lots on the NE corner of 67th and Shirley and to the west of the Zone 5 parking garage.
