Online ordering is great. Sometimes you can get attractive coupons though a restaurant's mobile app.

One thing I caught in the process is they automatically set me up to tip $3.00, I said forget that. I'm glad I caught that. Otherwise, yes, the online ordering process is a nice perk.

I can't really say I remember what they used to be like back in the day, as I rarely had it as a kid. But I heard some terrible reviews. Now they are actually my preferred fast pizza spot. Like when I don't feel like shelling out for Mama's, or I just want the convenience. I think Domino's really is good.

Now how does it compare to little Caesar's? That's one I have only had a couple times in my life. I just discovered there's one about equal distance from me as Domino's, but I never go there.

My one data point is I prefer Domino's to Little Ceasar's Not a large gap but enough for me to go to Domino's

It felt like there was only two choices for pizza in the late 1980s. There were more, of course, but it seemed like every time there was a party or gathering and pizza was getting ordered it was, "What do you want? Dominos or Pizza Hut?"

As it relates to fast food chain pizza, I would agree with that. Although by the late 1980’s Godfather’s was pretty much a regional pizza chain option for the Omaha area as well…

Truth be told Godfathers grew national pretty quick. Willy used to jet around the country selling franchises, many if not most were multi unit contracts. Florida, Arizona, Colorado and other states were high on his radar in the 80s.

I wish I could have tasted Godfathers back in the day. It sounds like it was great... Nowadays, I feel really meh about it. I will take a Domino's pizza over Godfather's, which should seem wrong to me, but Godfather's really isn't all that. If I'm gonna spend that level of money, I'm getting Mama's every time. But when I want cheap and easy, Domino's it is. I haven't had Little Caesar's very much, but I don't quite care for how thick and bready it is. More like a loaf of bread with cheese, a little sauce, and a couple toppings.

There were some Godfather's up in Spokane, WA. But they all closed in the late 90's and early 2000's.

Like I’ve stated in the past, Godfather’s Pizza back when they started out in the mid 1970’s was nothing, NOTHING like it morphed into once it branched out in the 1980’s. The Pizza slices were so huge, and loaded with so much cheese and toppings, it was hard to finish 2 slices..and you really needed to be hungry to do that.. It was great!..

Today, I’d still probably take Godfather’s over the Pizza Hut and Dominoes of the world..but not by much…

One I know I don't touch is Pizza Hut unless its free. Another I recently tried that was catered into work was Marco's, and it was also pretty way down there, I'd never buy it... The fact Domino's sits so high on my list of fast chain pizza says a lot about Dominos and a lot about the ones I keep below it.

Okay, so I'm going to admit something. I had Subway for the first time in like five or six years kinda out of desperation. I remember for a while in my adolescence I absolutely loved the sweet onion chicken teriyaki sandwich. It became pretty much the only one I'd get.
Anyway, I got it, and I actually quite enjoyed it. Enough to where I found a recipe and made the sweet onion sauce at home. Now I can make my own.

Now discuss... Favorite toppings at sub sandwich places and favorite sub places.

Church’s Chicken had multiple locations in Omaha, but for whatever reason, pulled out of our market in the late 1980’s. Good to see them return.. I remember when Sugar Ray Leonard was their spokesperson back in the day. Really good fried chicken…

In 1989 Church's Chicken got bought out by Popeyes, and a lot of stores were either closed, or converted over. In 2004 Popeyes sold off the brand, and it would seem they are now building new stores. I wonder if this is a one off, or will there be others?

If I ever tried Church's, it was many years ago and I don't remember it. Still, I'm willing to give it a go.

That makes sense. That’s about the time Popeyes entered the Omaha market.. There was a Church’s Chicken at 40th and Dodge which became a Popeyes Chicken around 1990…

The Omaha location will be a franchise by someone that moved to Omaha from somewhere else that has a lot of experience with Churches. Tenton talked about it on Grow Omaha a few months ago, and he may have even said what city they moved from.

With the success Whataburger is having in KC I think it's only a matter of time. Had to fly through Love Field last week and we ate Whataburger during our layover. It was really good. My son tried a Dr Pepper shake....

There were Church's Chickens in Lincoln and Omaha in 1996-97. They were in Phillips 66 stores with Amigo's.

Edit, I ended up having some Vanilla Ice Cream and some Dr Pepper around the house and I mixed one serving of ice cream with one serving of Dr Pepper, and it was bomb!

It’s actually a blended shake made with Dr Pepper..at least that was the one I had.. Now that you mentioned it, a Dr Pepper float sounds good too…

I blended it up, one serving of vanilla ice cream and about 6 to 8 ounces of Dr Pepper. It was a little liquidy after so I refroze it. It was good, would highly recommend.

I'm not going to try it. To me, every time Arby's tries something out of their wheelhouse, it pretty well bombs IMO. I don't have Arby's too much anymore, but when I do, its the French Dip, or the Beef & Cheddar with curly fries, a Jamocha Shake, some Arby's and Horsey sauce, and maybe some Jalapeno poppers if I'm really pigging out. Those are the items I've settled upon over the years. I've tried some of their gimmicky stuff from time to time, and they really are not all that. One thing I do miss from there is the Italian Sub.

One gripe I consistently have with them is their use of shredded iceberg lettuce, Its just not good. Somehow it works on tacos and Big Macs, but it never works on whatever Arby's tries. If they went with leaf lettuce, I feel it could be the difference maker with a lot of their attempts.

I'm super boring when it comes to Arby's. A Classic Roast Beef sandwich (formerly their "Regular Roast Beef" sandwich) as I think it provides the best meat to bread ratio and a ton of Arby’s Sauce. I'm the one guy that couldn't care less for their Curly Fries.

I tried to dine-in at the Wendy's in La Vista today. I parked my car and strolled up to the building only to be greeted with a locked door. No signage at all in any windows. No hours of operation listed. No signs stating the dining room is closed. The drive-thru had plenty of cars. I tried calling to see if the dining room being closed was always the case or if it was just closed today because of a staffing issue that may be resolved by tomorrow. The phone number is disconnected. As best as I can tell, Wendy's has disconnected the phones at all of their locations and their website no longer lists phone numbers for their restaurants either. Wow.

I will be the odd man out on this, but I didn't think they were all that. I definitely liked them, but they're not part of all the yester-year fast food items that I miss, personally. I'm perfectly fine without them. There are quite a few no longer existing food items I'd put above Arby's potato cakes.

And on that thought, what are some of everybody's most missed fast food items? I will have to think. I know I have a lot from Burger King, because they seem to be the one that most often has something good and then takes them away never to be seen again.

One recent revival that I never got into is Taco Bell's Mexican Pizza. I've had it a couple times in my life, but other than that, I really don't think it is all that... And especially now, I'm hearing that the revival version isn't as good as the original. So that's one I won't be getting.

Frankly, I can't tell the difference between the new and the old. It was good then, it's good now. I don't believe it's ever supposed to be "all that"... it is fast food, after all.
