Still no framing to report but they are definitely working on the mechanical infrastructure inside the building.

Drove past this today, no changes with the framing. Seems to be in some sort of a delay, hopefully it can get going again soon

Re: Moxy Hotel to replace OM Diner
Good to hear. I still wonder if they are having supply chain issues. There are several other wood frame projects around town that seem to have weeks worth of framing materials stacked up and ready to go and this one doesn't. This project probably don't have the space to stage it like other projects do.

The project at 79th and Dodge is also frozen in time, framing wise. No work in a couple of weeks as far as I can tell.

The Clove Apartments? It seems like it got a little bigger in the past week? Its also the exact same framing as the Moxy project.nativeomahan wrote: Wed Jun 15, 2022 8:06 pm The project at 79th and Dodge is also frozen in time, framing wise. No work in a couple of weeks as far as I can tell.

Two more to go.....it's going to be taller than I thought. Really do hope it still becomes a Moxy. It would be a great score for the Old Market.

Yeah, this increase in density will really look cool there. I hope it helps get the old Michaels spot filled.omahahawk wrote: Mon Jun 27, 2022 3:21 pm Two more to go.....it's going to be taller than I thought. Really do hope it still becomes a Moxy. It would be a great score for the Old Market.

I'm hoping The National building to the west gets renovated and filled up.

Re: Moxy Hotel to replace OM Diner
The building to the west, the National Building, is currently on the market. It's been on the market since the beginning of the year apparently with a $4 Million asking price.GetUrban wrote: Tue Jan 25, 2022 4:05 amI worked nearby in the late 90s and early 2000s, and I remember there was a short-lived restaurant called The Bistro in the early 2000s. It had a split entry and was half a story above street level. They also had seating outside at street level. There were also a few offices on the upper floors.Big E wrote: Tue Jan 25, 2022 3:53 amFWIW I've lived downtown since July 2015 and that to my memory that building has never had a tenant.guy4omaha wrote: Tue Jan 25, 2022 2:01 am
Back in the mid-2000s I walked by it to and from work each day and there was sidewalk tables andseating next to it on the west side of 12th. So I had the impression it had been a restaurant at one time. Your question just now makes me realize that was just an assumption on my part. It sure looked the part though.

Re: Moxy Hotel to replace OM Diner
Finally! I suppose it won’t open until maybe Spring 2023.
Downtown’s hotel stock has never been stronger. That in turn leads to more restaurants, lounges, coffee shops, etc.

Don't forget all the apartments being built. Hopefully some more townhouses, rowhouses and condos keep coming too so people have place to own and live in the core.nativeomahan wrote: Thu Jul 28, 2022 10:42 pm Finally! I suppose it won’t open until maybe Spring 2023.

I thirds that comment. It is looking great in that space! I need to drive by to get a better sense of scale, but seems like a perfect in-fill fit for that lot.Omaha Cowboy wrote: Mon Aug 22, 2022 2:41 pmAgreed..

I think it was mentioned in a recent Grow Omaha show; across the street in the Landmark parking garage.Coyote wrote: Mon Sep 26, 2022 5:06 pm Where did they say where would be the parking for this Hotel?

Yeah, they started mentioning it because every single time we post anything about Moxy, everyone starts asking where people are going to park.

Re: Moxy Hotel to replace OM Diner
Reminds me of when there was an article about the luminarium and people commenting asked about parking, when there are clearly a few surface lots that were usually 90% empty before the Riverfront project started. I am glad the Moxy is sharing parking with landmark.Brad wrote: Tue Sep 27, 2022 2:30 amYeah, they started mentioning it because every single time we post anything about Moxy, everyone starts asking where people are going to park.

glad to see real brick being used.... Those prefab panels with "brickface" can look cheap sometimes...

Re: Moxy Hotel to replace OM Diner
No doubt. Stick-on brick is so lame. It’s like those guys who take the muffler off their 1992 Civic and are like, “It sounds like a Ferrari now.” Uh…no. No it does not.
Or those fake Louis Vuitton bags that look like a recycled Goodyear with LV patterns silkscreened on them.
It’s sad, because good design doesn’t have to be expensive.
I just wish developers in the US gave the first whack about the appearance of the things they build. Sigh.

I was trying to explain to the fiancee that yellow wasn't the facade the other week. She thought the building was going to be ugly and was asking why they couldn't use the brick all around.
After some chuckles... I told her what's going on. She likes it.

I always thought that corner looked tired and under utilized. This hotel fills it in nicely. Love it!

Agreed. I know The Diner had its fans, but this feels like a much better fit. Hopefully once this is open, it draws something into the empty building to the west as well.

The comment on the twitter post calls out a brick veneer, I thought it was mentioned earlier that it’s actual brick?
