Thanks for the pics. Looks impressive. This reminds me a lot of the Mission Ballroom that opened up not too long ago out here in Denver. Great venue.ita wrote: Thu Feb 17, 2022 4:33 pm Photos from the Omaha Performing Arts Facebook Page:

That stark contrast to the surrounding buildings should look fantastic.

Thanks for sharing this. Wasn't able to view the picture in larger format but even from the thumbnails that cladding looks incredible.

For sure! That is a great look! I'll have to make a point to drive by when I'm downtown.

Finally made it downtown on Saturday to see the exterior on the new Steelhouse Omaha. Here are some photos. Unfortunately the weather wasn't the best.
Can't wait to see this sign lit up at night.

That cladding is a pretty good look. Hopefully there will still be some quality aesthetics/lighting added so it doesn't look like a black void from some angles.

Re: Steelhouse Omaha (12th & Dodge St)
I saw this in a KMTV article about the newly announced Center of Arts Engagement, but this project is scheduled to finish in Spring 2023. I really hope they do some open houses for the Steelhouse. It seems like this one just started going vertical, but we're literally months away to seeing it completed. Anyway, we might have this and the Luminarium open within a couple months of each other; that's pretty darn exciting for downtown.

There is a led light pocket cut into the bottom of the precast that goes most of the way around the main entrance of the building. There is also going to be led lights shining upward from the top of the precast. You can see the junction boxes on top of the aluminum sill.almighty_tuna wrote: Mon Jun 27, 2022 10:37 am That cladding is a pretty good look. Omaha Performing Arts announces Steelhouse Omaha's opening date
Steelhouse Omaha will open its doors on May 12, 2023.
Omaha Performing Arts on Tuesday announced the grand opening date of its newest live music venue. The opening will be followed by a weekend of activities. The planning for the opening performance is underway, and the details will be announced at a later date. The venue, which will hold up to 3,000 people when it opens, is being developed in a former parking lot between Dodge Street and Capitol Avenue, east of 12th Street, across from the Holland Performing Arts Center. Steelhouse Omaha will offer a midrange concert venue for shows too large for the Orpheum Theater and too small for the CHI Health Center. The facility is the latest part of Omaha Performing Arts' planned expansion of its arts and entertainment campus near the Holland Center. The project was designed by Ennead Architects.

Steelhouse Omaha will be located across Dodge Street from the Holland Performing Arts Center.

This project seems like such an underutilization of space/property now that the park is done...

Yeah I’d much rather have it be an empty parking lot. There are so many empty lots/parking lots downtown are we really crying about getting a new concert venue that will bring actual up and coming artists instead of the same 10 country bands? Maybe the city can worry about filling in Lot B, the massive parking lot by the Old Market, the Wallstreet Tower lot, and the Civic before we start complaining about getting things built.Chungus wrote: Wed Jul 27, 2022 10:40 am This project seems like such an underutilization of space/property now that the park is done...

I agree with Potatoes. Yes, I’m disappointed that HDR didn’t land here but much better that OPA invest in this than sit on a parking lot. This isn’t exactly a useless plot now and will hopefully bring some life to the Capitol District.

Omaha Performing Arts will now have a "campus". Three significant structures, The Holland, The Learning Center and the Steel House. As well as the fantastic lawn and amphitheater in the GLM.

Re: Steelhouse Omaha (12th & Dodge St)
Omaha in its olden days had a "theater district" or entertainment district along Douglas, I think.
11th Street is the new entertainment district. We've got not only the Steelhouse, but the Holland Center, the outdoor bandshell in GLM, the CHI Health Center, Jewell Jazz Club, Capitol District inner plaza, Mister Toad's (Sunday night jazz), the Old Market, generally, all within the vicinity of 11th Street.
It's an honest to goodness "district" now, I mean, beyond merely the "Capitol District"; so I can see no better use of the location where the Steelhouse now sits.
"11th Street" is our biggest go-to hotspot now. Someone ought to make a broadway-style musical about it.

Chungus, you crazy son of a gun, how dare you express an opinion without getting approval first. You must have touched a nerve with potato head. I am sure he regrets his condescending, snarky tone. I don't think they measured right, because the facade seems to be leaning.
