I talked with someone who is well connected that said that a stadium for Union Omaha is pretty much a done deal. He said that it is most likely going downtown but that midtown was also an option.

So if they are still unsettled on a location it sounds like it is still quite a bit away timeframe wise.laserdisque wrote: Mon Aug 01, 2022 7:44 pm I talked with someone who is well connected that said that a stadium for Union Omaha is pretty much a done deal. Right, especially with Midtown as an option, that would be very surprising to find that much usable land when UNMC and every other developer in the city wants to snatch it up.Greg S wrote: Mon Aug 01, 2022 8:24 pmSo if they are still unsettled on a location it sounds like it is still quite a bit away timeframe wise.laserdisque wrote: Mon Aug 01, 2022 7:44 pm I talked with someone who is well connected that said that a stadium for Union Omaha is pretty much a done deal. I heard the owners had reached out to Mutual. I don't know how far the convo went but I heard they inquired about both the land by 480 and the site of the main office building. It would be a while out if that were the case.Louie wrote: Mon Aug 01, 2022 8:52 pmRight, especially with Midtown as an option, that would be very surprising to find that much usable land when UNMC and every other developer in the city wants to snatch it up.Greg S wrote: Mon Aug 01, 2022 8:24 pmSo if they are still unsettled on a location it sounds like it is still quite a bit away timeframe wise.laserdisque wrote: Mon Aug 01, 2022 7:44 pm I talked with someone who is well connected that said that a stadium for Union Omaha is pretty much a done deal. Better yet, eliminate 480 as a controlled access interstate at Douglas (at a minimum) and redesign the 480 hwy 75 interchange as a roundabout for two intersecting boulevards instead of a massive suburban style interchange. The entrance and exit ramps leading to and from 30th street from 480 take up at least 6 blocks of usable land on their own!TransitOriented wrote: Tue Aug 02, 2022 5:26 pm Cap I-480, build the stadium on top and call the street car stop Stadium. This would be a great move! As long as the developers are willing to get creative, I feel there are some great options today even. Or at least close to today.
Union would be very smart to get the stadium on or near the street car and ORBT too.
