Men's Soccer Adds Five to Fall Squad

Omaha men's soccer added five players to the 2022 roster. The five players are made up with two junior transfers and three true freshman. "We're really excited about the quality student-athletes we've been able to add to the fall roster," said Kyle Deremer, interim head coach. "We were able to add some experience with a pair of transfers while also tapping into some young skill that we will be able to develop and continue to grow our program."

Dowell Tabs Dowling As Men's Soccer Head Coach

Vice Chancellor / Director of Athletics Adrian Dowell announced Louisville assistant coach Donovan Dowling as the new head coach of Omaha men's soccer. He is the third head coach in the program's history. "It's another exciting day for Omaha Athletics as we welcome Donovan to Omaha to lead the men's soccer program," said Dowell. "Over the past decade, coach Dowling has played an integral role in the success of several programs including Louisville, UTRVG and Fort Hayes State. In addition to previously serving as a head coach at the Junior College level. "Donovan is recognized as one of the top recruiters in the sport and has demonstrated a commitment towards developing student-athletes on and off the pitch throughout his career."

Head men's soccer coach Donovan Dowling announced the 2022 slate Wednesday afternoon. The Mavericks will play 11 matches on their home turf. First on the schedule are a pair of exhibition matches. Omaha will host Central Arkansas on Aug. 15 before heading to Saint Louis on Aug. 20. The regular season kicks off on Aug. 25 vs. Rutgers at Caniglia Field. It also opens a six-match home stand for the Mavericks. Omaha will play Oakland (Aug. 28), San Diego State (Sept. 2), Drake (Sept. 6), Bradley (Sept. 9) and Creighton (Sept. 14) in that stretch. The Mavericks will play at UTRGV on Sept. 17 to wrap-up non-conference action. Summit League play begins at Western Illinois on Sept. 24. The Mavericks then return home to take on league rival Denver on Oct. 1. Home conference play will also feature matches vs. St. Thomas (Oct. 15), Lindenwood (Oct. 26) and Eastern Illinois (Nov. 5). Omaha hits the road on Oct. 8 to play newly added member Southern Indiana. The Mavericks will also play at Oral Roberts (Oct. 22) and Kansas City (Oct. 29). The 2022 Summit League Tournament will be held in Denver this season after the Pioneers clinched the 2021 regular season title. Semifinals will kick off on Nov. 10 with the championship match on Nov. 12.

Dowling's First Win Comes as Omaha Downs Oakland

Head men's soccer coach Donovan Dowling collected his first win at the helm Sunday night as the Mavericks downed the Oakland Golden Grizzlies, 3-1. Kenji Mboma Dem tallied five points, while Mathis Pilon St-Louis netted the game winner. Omaha improves to 1-1-0 on the year.

Sallah Tabbed Defensive Peak Performer of the Week

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The Summit League named Nathanael Sallah its TicketSmarter Defensive Peak Performer of the Week Tuesday afternoon. It marks the first weekly accolade for Omaha men's soccer this season. Sallah earned the honor twice last season in November. The Mavericks recorded a 1-0 win last week vs. San Diego State. Sallah logged all 90 minutes between the pipes for his first shutout of the season. He is one of four league keepers with a shutout in 2022. Sallah made four saves helping him to second in the league with a .706 save percentage. He averages 4.0 saves per game which is tied third.

St-Louis Earns Offensive Weekly Honor

Mathis Pilon St-Louis earns his first Summit League weekly award, the league announced Monday afternoon. St-Louis was named the TicketSmarter Offensive Peak Performer of the Week following his efforts vs. Drake and Bradley. St-Louis is on a four-match scoring streak after netting two last week. St-Louis tied the match vs. Drake in the 86th minute and scored the game winner vs. Bradley in the 80th minute. St-Louis leads Omaha with four goals. He is tied as the league leader in goals and has the most game winners (3) so far this season. The sophomore forward totaled three shots on goal last week converting two of them. He finished with seven total shots over the two matches.

Mavericks, Jays Set for Dodge Street Derby

The Mavericks close a six-game home stand Wednesday night. Omaha will face crosstown rival Creighton at 7 p.m. at Caniglia Field. The Mavericks haven't dropped a match since the season opener. The Bluejays are coming off two draws vs. Stanford and San Diego State.

Mavericks Shutout Leathernecks, 2-0

Omaha men's soccer snapped a two-match skid and earned its first win in Summit League action Saturday afternoon. The Mavericks beat Western Illinois, 2-0. Kenji Mboma Dem netted the game winner in the 36th minute. Omaha is 4-3-1 overall and 1-0-0 in Summit League play.
