Michigan 49-7
Sounds about right. Nebraska might get a FG and Michigan might settle for 42.

I throw in the towel... With 13 minutes left, 24-3... Only 24 to 3, but it might as well be 48-6. Only thing that kept the score down was the weather. I have a lot of wood to process for this -yet again- long off season. Gonna go sharpen my chainsaw blade.

Game's over. Nebraska lost 34-3. Now they're 3-7 with a bowl game now out of reach.

At least Nebraska caught a break and doesn't play Ohio State this year or next. Michigan and Ohio State are on a completely different level than NU.

The sad part is, Michigan didn’t look like they exuded much effort in dispatching the Huskers by 31 points..

This offense, minus Casey Thompson, is completely inept and undisciplined.. The NU defense actually held up better than I expected today..part of that might have been the Wolverines playing down to their level of competition..

This is coming from the “it could have been worse” department…

Sounds like Smothers was under the weather. Didn’t even take the field initially during warmups. From what they are saying he’s not only one, some sort of bug going through the team.

Michigan is now 10-0 for the first time since 2006. Nebraska's been on the wrong side of history too many times since joining the Big Ten.

Normally I’d say that would be contributing reason for the Husker loss. Today however, if true, it really didn’t matter..

Sadly…

I still don't think anyone could of thought Nebraska would be this bad for this long. This is getting to be a while that they have been bad. And that's what they are just flat out bad. Not much reason for optimism either. It's been a coaching merry-go-round that I think everyone is getting tired of. I'm about ready to tune out Nebraska football. I like the parity the NFL has over what college football has become.

I heard that after today's loss, accounting for 2022 records as of today's games, they are now the only power 5 team not to qualify for a bowl since the 2016 season concluded. And on top of that, they are flat out in the race for all FBS teams, in the room with the likes of Rice (5-5), Louisiana Monroe (4-6), and UNLV (4-6). The only other team now guaranteed to be in the room with the Huskers at the end of the season is New Mexico (2-8). Great company.

They need to stop scheduling early season non-conference power 5 opponents like the juggernaut they aren't. And they also need to stop scheduling season opening conference games. The poor boys need a few weeks to get their feet under them for the next several years. If I go back and look at how well the boys have fared against conference season openers and early season non-conference power 5 opponents, it follows:

2022 - Northwestern Loss, Oklahoma Loss. 2021 - Illinois Loss, Oklahoma Loss. 2019 - Colorado Loss. 2018 - Colorado Loss.
2017 - Oregon Loss. And the last time the team was decent, 2016 - Oregon (barely) Win.

And in looking forward, it doesn't look like they've learned their lesson. 2023 - Opener at Minnesota, then followed by at Colorado. 2024 - Week 2 vs Colorado. 2025, Week 2 at Cincinnati. 2026 - Week 2 vs Tennessee. 2027 Week 2 at Tennessee.

This team needs "tune up" games, and it looks like we aren't gonna see that, unfortunately.

Casey Thompson Gets Green Light for Return
Quarterback on track to start in Nebraska’s home finale vs. Wisconsin

Nebraska quarterback Casey Thompson threw the ball well during Thursday's practice and is on track to start Saturday against Wisconsin, interim Husker head coach Mickey Joseph said. "The last three days have been enough for me to see," Joseph said of Thompson's progress this week. Thompson has missed the last 2½ games with an injury that affected his grip on the football. During his absence, Nebraska has scored just one touchdown.

Sellout Streak Survives a Difficult Season
All Nebraska-Wisconsin football tickets are sold, but there are bargains galore on the resale market

Memorial Stadium's 100th season will wrap up Saturday with Nebraska football's home sellout streak still chugging along at 60-plus years and 389 games. The 11 a.m. CST contest against Wisconsin was listed as sold out early Thursday afternoon on the Nebraska Athletics ticket site. Just an hour earlier, about 70 seats remained unsold, so it appears several dozen tickets were purchased in bulk to secure sellout status.

I'm glad to have Casey Thompson back for this. It least there's a little hope for some offense. But I still think the numbers are leaning toward Wisconsin. My prediction will be Wisconsin 28, Husker 21. However, my hope is for a sloppy low scoring game Huskers 17-14.

I agree, but they tend to play down in Lincoln. That's why I don't think it'll be a curb stomping, especially in their own down year, it'll be a solid win for Wisconsin, or the Huskers might stand a puncher's chance.

Wisconsin @ Nebraska
Current Records: Wisconsin 5-5; Nebraska 3-7

What to Know
The Wisconsin Badgers are 5-0-1 against the Nebraska Cornhuskers since October of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success Saturday. The Badgers and Nebraska will face off in a Big Ten battle at noon ET at Tom Osborne Field at Memorial Stadium. Neither Wisconsin nor Nebraska could muster much offensive firepower in their last games, so look to the defense to decide this one.

Series History
Wisconsin won five games and tied one game in their last six contests with Nebraska.
Nov 20, 2021 - Wisconsin 35 vs. Nebraska 28
Nov 16, 2019 - Wisconsin 0 vs. Nebraska 0
Oct 06, 2018 - Wisconsin 41 vs. Nebraska 24
Oct 07, 2017 - Wisconsin 38 vs. Nebraska 17
Oct 29, 2016 - Wisconsin 23 vs. Nebraska 17
Oct 10, 2015 - Wisconsin 23 vs. Nebraska 21

Odds
The Badgers are a big 10-point favorite against the Cornhuskers, according to the latest college football odds.
The line on this game has moved quite a bit since it opened, as it started out with the Badgers as a 13-point favorite.

That info is flawed. The cancelled game in 2020 doesn't count as a tie. And why not include the series history since 2011 to make it extra depressing. Since 2011, Wisconsin has played the Huskers ten times and they are 9-1. In their wins, only 3 times was it seven points or less. And we all know how the others went...

Nebraska falls to Wisconsin for Huskers' ninth straight loss to Badgers

LINCOLN — The losing streak continues. After trailing for most of the game, a touchdown by Wisconsin in the final minute gave the Badgers their ninth straight victory over Nebraska. The final score of Saturday's game was 15-14. The Huskers' losing streak goes back to the 2012 Big Ten title game where NU lost to UW after defeating them in the regular season.

That Nebraska loses a game, it’s become the expectation.. The “how” I’ve quite nearly become numb to at this point…

Unfortunately, he was dealt a very, very poor hand. I like the guy and I definitely think with a clean slate, he can do great things. And I think he probably will, just not here. AND I don't think he was ever expected to turn things around. He held it together pretty well IMO. Kept the boys in almost every game they stood a chance in. And someone will look at that as a point of merit. "-Kept Nebraska in the game... Hmm, impressive!"

I just realized I had not watched a single game the Huskers won this season :( I work every Saturday, except for the ones I take vacation on during football season. Didn't take North Dakota or Georgia Southern off cause I figured they were gimme's (only half right). I took eight Saturdays off, and the only chance I stood of seeing a Husker win was against Indiana, but I was in Talladega and I just had no way to watch it. And I will be working during the Iowa game next week... Not that I think they'll win anyway. But Husker football means a lot to me, and to not witness a single win in a season is painful.

I think the Corn Nation guy last week said something like no matter what you're going through in life, Husker football is an escape... It sucks for it not to do "it" for us this season, or any of the past several seasons. And now that the season is basically over, it hurts that there's basically nothing left until September of 2023. It'll be a long nine months.

Agreed- The disaster that has been the 2022 Husker football season is not Mickey Joseph’s fault- AT ALL.. This completely was the bad hand he was dealt trying to navigate through the mess Scott Frost left..

Also, I believe when NU hires their new Head Coach, Mickey Joseph will be retained as assistant Head Coach- the same role he had when he was hired back into the program..which makes sense. Especially from a recruiting standpoint..

The “Twitter-verse” is reporting Matt Rhule is about to sign a 7 year deal to become the Huskers next head football coach. We’ll see if that comes to fruition…

Who's Playing
Nebraska @ Iowa
Current Records: Nebraska 3-8; Iowa 7-4
Odds
The Hawkeyes are a big 10.5-point favorite against the Cornhuskers, according to the latest college football odds. The oddsmakers were right in line with the betting community on this one, as the game opened as a 10.5-point spread, and stayed right there.
Over/Under: -109
Series History
Iowa won five games and tied two games in their last seven contests with Nebraska.
Nov 26, 2021 - Iowa 0 vs. Nebraska 0

So for as much as everybody was dogging on Iowa early in the season, and winning very ugly, their record says they are a decent team. Id love the Huskers to be 7-4 right now.

Iowa is still very much in this game. I still think Iowa will find a way to win this. A 17 point lead can be erased quickly.
