Huskers played well from start to finish. Need to continue to improve though with Big 10 play looming.

Yeah I think that is one of the more encouraging things. Yes, the defense was solid beginning to end, but as you said the offense had issues (especially rough to start the 2nd) and yet NU still won. They can definitely play better than they did Sunday.

Will be real interesting to see how they follow it up on the road at Indiana tonight

Matt Rhule was announced and spoke at halftime. I wonder how it compared to Frost several years ago. I remember how emotional that was.

Yeah I think the only time we lead was 2-0.

Jacob Bigelow, who writes for Huskers Illustrated was on Sharp and Handley this morning on my way to work in Bellevue. He and Sharp did seem to think K State was the best non conference foe Nebraska faced this year. They did also mention St John's.

Yeah, I don't watch them much but definitely did not see that coming?

Do you know anything about the game tomorrow night against Queens? They were talking about it on 1620. Said it wasn't in the season ticket package, and I couldn't tell but it's being put on by a promoter? It just seemed odd the way they referenced it.

It is some sort of "event" game. Didn't look too much into it since it was not part of my season tickets, and do not plan on going. I believe there are three games at Pinnacle tomorrow, and this is the last of the three games. One ticket gets you to all the games, and I am guessing the sponsors or whatever for this needed some gate $$4 to make it work. Do not remember any of the other teams other than they are not teams that I would be familiar with at any level.

A lot of speculation on my end, but that is a little bit anyway.

Unfortunately I have to coach hockey tonight. There are some really good lower bowl seats available. I have only ever sat in the top level (once I get get to seat in the Lincoln Journal Star suite as my brother in law was an editor for them for a long time).

That's very cool. Sounds like he will now be on that show weekly. If you don't here it live you can find it under their Radio Replay Section.

On the one yesterday he not only went to and covered the Nebraska K State game in KC, but earlier in the day covered the Kansas/Indiana game too, Reported on both on 1620.

Yeah if the teams got any sort of appearance fee, the promoter of the "Battle at the Vault" lost a ton. It did get some run on Sportscenter because Drake upset unbeaten and #15 Mississippi State in the 2nd game. It did look like Mississippi State and Drake both brought fans.

This thing though was horribly promoted locally. It was advertised as the inaugural Battle at the Vault. Will be interesting to see if there is a second one.

I shut off the stream at the half and listen to the second half on the radio Kent P was saying it was the worst crowd he had ever called a Husker game at. The two guys calling it were guessing 3 - 4 K there. I guess he doesn't remember some of the games that had almost no one in the last year of Barry Collier.

Agree that there was no promotion. As a season ticket holder, I got very little info to go buy tickets, either.

One note in how they presented it that you pointed out..... They used the wording inaugural Battle at the Vault. In fact, I think they used the wording FIRST inaugural Battle at the Vault in some cases. The point of interest I noted is that I never saw it say the First Annual..... YOu can always be the first inaugural and not be the first annual!!!

Yeah I don’t have basketball tickets but I am a donor and season ticket holder for football (and a lifetime alumni). I got one email about this event.

Will be interesting if they do this next year. If they do, should have UNO involved in one of the earlier games. Also put more of a marquee opponent for NU (former Big 8 team or regional team like Wichita State).

Not to derail the thread but didn't want to start a new one.

Iowa men's BB had a TERRIBLE night last night.

They were 31.5 Pt favorites at home to Eastern Illinois and lost to them 92-83

With a 30 + point spread, the underdog had not won in this situation for the last 558 times it occurred. ( at least 30 years of history)

Iowa got outscored 55-38 in the second half.

Nebraska hosts Iowa a week from today.

I honestly can't remember a bigger upset point spread-wise. ESPN even said it was the biggest point spread of the moder era:
