I-80 Speedway - Greenwood(closing)

I-80 Speedway closing permanently, iconic items auctioned off

For nearly 20 years fans have packed the stands in order to witness the thrill of a race. "I am a second-generation racer so we raced cars for quite a few years and race was all part of what we had done," said Steve Kosiski, co-owner of I-80 Speedway. In 2004, Steve Kosiski and his brother Joe bought the I-80 speedway. They needed more land for their co-part facility right next door.

With this now closing, and obviously Sunset Speedway has been gone for a couple decades, where is the closest track now?

From start to finish line, Nebraska's I-80 Speedway was a love story for Kosiski family

GREENWOOD, Neb. — One of the premier race tracks in the Midwest has closed, and now the I-80 Speedway is selling everything at auction. The track is silent, the stands sit empty, but the stories still race across the I-80 Speedway. "There was a lot of people involved. Helping to get it, build it, maintain it, its a lot of work — it's not a one-man job," Steve Kosiski said. Two decades of memories were made here. Kosiski and his brother bought the track in 2004 and waved the final checkered flag this past fall.
