Fun game to be at. The Defense on this team is for real.

The Husker had a 7 Min stretch in the second half where they didn't score, and they still had a 20 Pt lead at the end of that drought.

The Huskers led by as many as 24 points in the rivalry win

Nebraska men's basketball closed 2022 with a runaway victory over rival Iowa. The Huskers (8-6, 1-2 Big Ten) got up early and stayed there for the 66-50 win over a reeling Hawkeyes (8-5, 0-2 Big Ten) squad. "That was a lot of fun," coach Fred Hoiberg said. "They came in and instilled a defensive will and never took their foot off the gas."

The person not with me but sitting by me went to get something for the kid he had with him about 5 Min of game time into the game. When he got back, he said he waited until the game was going because the line was so long when he came in. I was in my seat 50 Min before tip, so never noticed when I came in. He missed 10 min of game time.... not the clock on the wall time.

With about 4 Min left in the half, I went to the RR and there is a concession stand right near where I went to section 304 . I did a quick count when I came back to the seats, and there were at LEAST 80 people in line for the three-station concession stand there.

They have 25 % of them open. Prices went way up, and now tax is not included in the price since it is electronic pay only so they is a hidden increase, too vs what was on the boards before.

Sure it is a staffing issue. What isn't? Pay some people to work and get them open. It is a complete embarrassment to Pinnacle. It was not just this game; been all season and last season.

Of course, the stand-alone places for beer sales are all staffed and open........

Yes it was. The shooting especially but also the defensive in the first half. Such a large deficit in the first half, that even though they made a couple small runs in the 2nd, you knew they were in too deep to make it a true game.

That was stressful but a fun one to win. We are so conditioned to expect a loss in that situation. Nice to get a conference road win.

I figured we were done when it went to OT. Based on history, we do not get these, esp on the road. Nice win for sure and fun game to watch.

Yeah unfortunately we are kind of programmed to expect the worst in those type of situations. Once Minnesota hit the 3 with a few seconds left in regulation I prepared myself for a loss. Pleasant surprise.

Shouldn’t have even gone to OT, that Walker charge call was awful. Looks like Minnesota is the clear worse team in the league, dropping this game would have hurt.

Yeah I wasn’t a huge fan of that call but didn’t think it was a bad as the foul call against us at the end against Purdue.

Minnesota is definitely not good, but until we prove over the course of a season that we have really improved, I can’t put us above anyone in the league.

Jacob Bigelow had an informative segment on Sharp and Handley this morning.

Good discussion on Minnesota's home court. For me, even going back to when Nebraska played them in the nonconference part of the schedule in the Big 12, I always thought the raised floor there was a disadvantage for visiting teams.

He brought up Derrick Walker's improved shooting from the free throw line and speculated on the credit going to NU's performance lab and using the technology to help him get the improvement.

They also talked about the schedule ahead, how the Big 10 will be a blood bath and possibly 10 teams making the tournament from the league.

Last part on NU I heard was how the recruiting will look going forward. Sounds like NU is repairing local ties and is in on some of the younger players here locally. Spent hours at the Metro Holiday tournament.

On Monday, Jan. 9, Nebraska Vice Chancellor, Director of Athletics Trev Alberts provided an update on efforts to improve the concessions experience at Pinnacle Bank Arena. Alberts' message is below.

Husker Fans,

In the past 10 days we have had productive conversations with our partners at Pinnacle Bank Arena, the West Haymarket Joint Public Agency, and the City of Lincoln regarding the issues at concession stands during Husker basketball games at PBA. Together, we have identified several steps to reduce the wait time at concession stands, allowing our fans to get back to their seats to support our men's and women's teams.

Steps taken to address line issues at Nebraska Basketball games include….
Open additional stands by streamlining the menus and taking alcohol out of one or two concession stands. These stands would be specifically for food and non-alcoholic beverages.
Hire additional staff at premium wages to allow Pinnacle Bank Arena to increase the number of concessions locations.
Reduce the age for workers selling non-alcoholic products from 19 to 16.
Wrist banding stations separate from the concession stands for patrons who wish to purchase alcohol. The wrist banding stations will be staffed with proper security personnel.
Provide additional locations for purchasing beer by limiting outlets for mixed drinks.

The Husker performance last night was NOT the way they need to address the concession concerns. Keep this up, and there will not be anyone to be in line at the concession stands.

Not to be too much of a downer, but once Walker and others got into early foul trouble in the first half, I wrote the game off. Then the injury to Juwan Gary (a real bright spot this year) pretty much sealed the deal for me. I just didn't see a path to victory unfortunately. Just a bad home game coming off a fun road win. 2 steps forward, 1 back.

I agree. Hopefully it's not for long. This is the one he's had issues with previously, going back to freshman year at Alabama.
