University of Nebraska announces first steps in search for new UNL chancellor

LINCOLN, Neb. —
University of Nebraska president Ted Carter announced Tuesday that the national search for University of Nebraska-Lincoln's next chancellor is underway. Ronnie Green, UNL's current chancellor, announced last month his plans to retire in June 2023 — he'd spent seven years in the role. Carter said a national executive search firm has been hired to assist in the process, AGB Search.

Public listening sessions scheduled for UNL chancellor search
All members of the university and broader communities are invited to attend the sessions.

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln announced today it will hold a series of listening sessions to gather public opinion as the search for the university’s next chancellor continues. The sessions will be moderated by AGB Search, the firm UN System President Ted Carter hired to assist with the search. Feedback from the sessions will help the search committee in filling and narrowing down the pool of candidates.

Current UNL Chancellor Ronnie Green announced his intent to retire in June after seven years at the helm.

Ronnie Green reflects on leading UNL thru historic, turbulent times



Friday was Ronnie Green's last day leading the University of Nebraska's flagship campus. He's been the chancellor at UNL for the past seven years thru some of the university's biggest growth and most trying times. Green posted this goodbye on Twitter, but before he left, his last official duty was to sit down with KETV Newswatch 7's Andrew Ozaki.

The final moments as UNL's chancellor are bittersweet. But Green said he was ready to retire. He joked about a song that popped into his head on Thursday. "I couldn't get out of my head all day long. And it was from 'Les Mis.' It's one of the songs from Les Miserable, 'One day more,'" Green said.
