This will be a great litmus test of how the team has coalesced over the past few games. Hopefully the 3pt percentage stays respectable.

Agree, Xavier didn't seem like they were able to stop Creighton much in the first game, I think the key to this game is Creigton's D. That is what really carried them last year to have the great finish and they have shown signs now that Kalk and Nembhard are healthier and only gave 65pts/game over the last 3.

The other key in the last matchup was offensive rebounding. X had 15 CU only 6.

Great first half for the jays, up 42-28, we are dominating the glass and getting the ball inside and drawing fouls.

Gotta keep it going in the 2nd half

What a huge win for the Jays, they should be possibly squeaking into the top 25 this next week

Men's Basketball Tops #13 Xavier In Front Of Sold Out Pink Out Crowd
All five starters score in double-figures

All five starters scored in double-figures as Creighton picked up its fourth top-25 win off the season with an 84-67 win over No. 13 Xavier on Saturday. The 19th-largest home crowd in school history (18,277) was on hand for the program's annual Creighton vs. Cancer Pink Out. Creighton improved to 13-8 on the season and 7-3 in BIG EAST play with its fourth straight victory. Xavier dropped to 17-5 (9-2 BIG EAST) but still leads the conference standings.

Creighton is back in action on Wednesday when it plays at Georgetown at 5:30 p.m. Central in a game that will air on 1620 The Zone, 101.9 The Keg and CBS Sports Network.

It said they set the 19th-largest home crowd in school history - 18,277. What are the 20 record crowds?

The crowd today was great, loudest and largest it’s been all season. Glad the team is finding their rhythm. I knew the key to todays game would be defense and rebounding, since they had neither in the first matchup.

Five-star basketball recruit Trentyn Flowers will make unofficial visit to Creighton this weekend

I have had the opportunity of asking you, how is your son doing lately?

That is the remarkable thing all of the Creighton staff that worked with us remembered my son being there 4 years ago, even Coach McDermott.

My son is now 3 years in remission and almost to the point where he only has to do annual check ups. Thanks for asking.

I knew it would be a hard task to be ranked since they were so far down but the Jays are getting closer:

Obviously, Creighton is not going to catch #5, but crazy that avg attendance went up 150 just after the Xavier game:

2022-23 NCAA Home Attendance Per Game Leaders
Through 1/29/23
Rank School Average
1. Kentucky 19,734
2. North Carolina 19,277
3. Arkansas 18,990
4. Tennessee 17,897
5. Syracuse 17,802
6. Creighton 16,874
7. Kansas 16,300
8. Indiana 15,634
9. Illinois 14,902
10. Purdue 14,876

Numbers will probably go up though with Sat home games vs Nova, UConn and then Marquette and Georgetown which are all big draws.

Hopefully the Jays won't look past tonight's game. This should be a win, but we've seen them play down to their opponent before.

Yes, Georgetown has only won 1 conference game in the past 1.5 yrs but they have talent, just don't want their 2nd win to be against Creighton since their NET is 242 and Quad 4.

Also curious to see how many fans they have in the stands.....games like these are a joke, between Georgtown and DePaul, both in major cities and unable to even fill 1/2 their arenas.

18-3 run to end the half.

Would like to come out strong in the second half and put them away so some of the bench players can get some minutes.

Jays keep stacking these wins together- tonight, a needed road win over Georgetown..

Sluggish start to the 2nd half, but CU played very good overall defense, and maintained a double digit victory..even with pretty cold shooting..

Jays-63
Hoyas-53…

Men's Basketball Extends Win Streak With Victory at Georgetown
Ryan Kalkbrenner leads CU with 16 points

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- An 18-3 run to end the first half proved to be the difference as Creighton earned a 63-53 victory at Georgetown on Wednesday night at Capital One Arena. It was Creighton's league-leading seventh double-digit BIG EAST win of the season. Preseason BIG EAST favorite won its fifth straight game to improve to 14-8 on the season and 8-3 in BIG EAST play. Georgetown dropped to 6-17 and is 1-11 in league action.

Terrible game for the Jays but at least they rebounded and won by double digits.

Thankfully the cold shooting night was against Georgetown, any other team and we lose.

Saturday's game vs Nova is sold out, they are trying to do a stripe out with alternating white and blue sections in the arena. It will be cool if enough people get the memo.
