Women's Basketball Adds Five to 2022-23 Roster

Head women's basketball coach Carrie Banks announced five additions to the 2022-23 roster last week. All five players bring experience to the team coming in as transfers. "I am truly excited about these key additions to our Maverick family," said Banks. "They bring the perfect combination of experience, talent, and passion for the game. Respectively, they complement our style of play and are equally impressive in their attitudes and approach off the court. I am looking forward to the upcoming season with this team."

UNO's Pilakouta plays in front of parents for 1st time in U.S.



For the past five years, Elena Pilakouta has called Omaha home. But the UNO senior's actual hometown is 6,251 miles away in Nicosia, Cyrpus. "It's in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea close to Turkey and Greece." Pilakouta played for the Cyprus national team growing up and is a two-time player of the year in her home country. But when Omaha offered her the opportunity to come play in America, the six-three center jumped at the chance.
