Inside the Omaha volleyball tournament with more than 500 teams, 2,000 matches and 11,000 hotel nights

This will be the 20th year for the tournament for athletes ages 11 to 18 and the biggest one ever. It started with 164 teams back in the day, but that number is dwarfed by the 530 squads registered this year.

There will be 2,048 matches during the Saturday through Monday tournament, a number that even stuns tournament director Tony Carrow of the Nebraska Elite volleyball club.

The tourney has gotten so big that the 38 courts at the CHI arena just aren’t enough. There will be 20 courts at the UBT Sports Complex in Elkhorn and eight more at the Volleyball Academy in La Vista.

The Iowa West Fieldhouse in Council Bluffs also will be in play Monday.

Carrow said all those matches luring all those fans staying in all those hotel rooms — an estimated 11,000 room nights — will have an estimated economic impact of $8 million on the Metro area.

Amazing how big this has gotten, coupled with State wrestling going on and thats a lot of money and visitors in the area this weekend.

Cirque du Soleil Corteo coming to Omaha in November;
tickets go on sale March 20

Cirque du Soleil Corteo will be taking the stage at the CHI Health Center in Omaha this November. There will be five total performances stretching over four days. Tickets are available online exclusively to Club Cirque members on Monday at 10 a.m. For a free subscription, visit Club Cirque's website. Tickets for the general public go on sale starting on March 20.

R&B artists Tyrese and Trey Songz announce concert at Omaha's CHI Health Center

Two popular R&B artists are coming to Omaha this summer. Tyrese and Trey Songz will be performing at the CHI Health Center on June 10. Tyrese, a Grammy Award nominee, is also known for playing Roman Pearce in the "Fast & Furious" franchise. Trey Songz is a two-time Grammy Award nominee. They will be joined by 112, H-Town and J. Holiday.

Tickets will go on sale here on March 17 at 10 a.m.

ODESZA to perform at CHI Health Center in early October

Grammy-nominated duo ODESZA announced on Monday the follow-up tour to their 2022 The Last Goodbye Tour, according to a press release from Live Nation. The second leg will follow headlining performances at Governors Ball, Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, Outside Lands, Electric Forest, and even including a stop at Omaha's CHI Health Center on October 4.

Tickets will be available starting with a presale via Laylo beginning Wednesday, March 29 at 10 AM local time. Additional presales will run throughout the week, with all presales ending Thursday, March 30 at 10 PM local time.

Jonas Brothers bring their Five Albums. One Night. The Tour. to CHI Health Center in Sept.16

The Jonas Brothers will be bringing their Five Albums. One Night. The Tour. to the CHI Health Center in September, according to a press release from the tour. The 35-date tour will include a performance from the trio of five albums every night. The "Sucker" singers will kick things off in Bronx, NY in the middle of August, and they will finish the tour up in Miami, FL in the middle of October. But first, they will come to Omaha on Saturday, September 16.

The verified fans will receive a presale code that can be used Tuesday, May 9. Aerosmith just announced for Omaha Nov 10th farewell tour. Omaha one of the smaller metro's on the tour it appears. This is a nice catch for Omaha.

Chappelle coming to Omaha as part of fall tour

OMAHA, Neb. – A popular – and sometimes controversial – comedian is coming to Nebraska this fall. Standup comedian Dave Chappelle, who has gained fame from his eponymous sketch comedy show and numerous films, will be in Omaha on Sept. 18 at CHI Health Center. Chappelle will be performing 12 total dates in 11 cities. He will also be in Kansas City and St. Paul, Minn. He won the Mark Twain Price for American Humor in 2019. Chappelle has also claimed five Emmys.
