Creighton Basketball 2023-2024

Post by skinzfan23 »

5-Star recruit Trentyn Flowers is going to announce his final decision on March 17th @ 4:30 CST.

Hopefully he picks the Jays. I believe he had a good visit here and loved everything, but we are up against:
Alabama
Arkansas
Kansas
Louisville
North Carolina

Would be huge if he picked Creighton.

I'm hearing rumors that it is Louisville, which is a little odd with their 4-28 season and their head coach probably getting fired.

But like you mentioned, great company to be in.

We shall see next Friday.

There are quite a few rumors that Isaac Traudt from Grand Island that picked VA is coming home next year and going to play for Creighton. Being the 64th highest recruit in the nation, this will be welcome news for the Jays.

I’m sure they will find a spot if true.

Josiah Dotzler, Creighton's lone recruit for next season was name Nebraska's Gatorade player of the year for the state.

Should be a good addition to the team...had compiled a 103-10 record in high school, always good to attract winners.

So glad that Shrewsbury was named new coach at ND. There were quite a few rumors that Coach Mac was looking into the position, so now those can be put to rest and everyone can focus on the Sweet 16 and Mac returning as coach next year.

Wonder how many of the current starting 5 are going to return. Theoretically, all of them could.

Like I stated in the last season thread, I hope they all return..

But I have a gut feeling at least 2 will be exploring other options. We’ll see. Fingers crossed they all stay for an “unfinished business” run in 23/24…

Yeah, hoping for minimal churn this offseason. It's pretty up in the air, but I think this will be an intense offseason; from both a player retention & speculation perspective and significant drive from those who stay. Ugh. November is a long ways away.

I feel you on this.. Especially November being so far out. I’m sure we were not ready for the Jays season to end yesterday..and certainly not ready for the way it ended.. But-

I’m turning the page :)

As expected Isaac Traudt announced he is entering the transfer portal. I would think Creighton would be at the top of his list with Nebraska maybe a close second.

He did state that he wants to move closer to family

"Josiah" Dotzler is the recruit....he is Josh's younger brother.

As for Farabello, both he and Reef are planning on returning, that is why they didn't go through senior night.

High Point Names Alan Huss Men’s Basketball Head Coach

HIGH POINT, N.C. — High Point University President Nido R. Qubein announced the hiring of Alan Huss as the new men's basketball head coach Monday inside the Qubein Arena and Conference Center.

"High Point University is a values-based university, and that was an important factor for us in selecting Alan Huss as the Men's Basketball Head Coach," President Qubein said. "Not only do Alan's values align with the University's, but Alan is also a proven leader and coach who comes to us literally from an Elite Eight finish at Creighton, where he has served as associate head coach. He knows the game as a player who reached the NCAA Tournament three times.

Is it true that Huss hadn’t even been to campus before taking the position. He has been good for Creighton but gunna be a lot harder to recruit guys to play the same style without the NIL money they get at Creighton.

Virginia Freshman Forward Isaac Traudt Enters Transfer Portal
A former four-star recruit out of Nebraska, Traudt redshirted his first and only season at UVA

Virginia freshman forward Isaac Traudt has entered the NCAA transfer portal, Traudt announced in a social media post on Monday afternoon.

Traudt, a 6'10" freshman forward, was originally a four-star recruit out of Grand Island, Nebraska, where he was the Nebraska Gatorade Player of the Year in 2022. He redshirted his first and only season at UVA and will end his Cavalier career without playing a single game in a Virginia uniform.

Traudt is a 4* recruit and was the #64 recruit and at one time as high as #47. With his size of 6'`10" and 230lbs he will be a huge addition to Creighton....add in the fact that he can shoot the ball from mid-range and outside and he should complement the team well. Especially if Baylor decides to leave.

Virginia Transfer Isaac Traudt Commits to Creighton
Traudt will officially begin his collegiate career in his home state of Nebraska

Just four days after officially entering the transfer portal, Isaac Traudt has found his *new* home. Former Virginia forward Isaac Traudt announced his commitment to Creighton in a social media post on Friday morning.

Traudt's commitment to Creighton comes as no surprise as he made it clear in his farewell post to Virginia on Monday that he wanted to be closer to home. "After a lot of thought and consideration, I realized that nothing means more to me than home," Traudt said on Monday." A Nebraska native, the transfer to Creighton in Omaha moves him just two hours away from his home town of Grand Island, Nebraska, and he will also be attending the same school as his girlfriend, who plays volleyball at Creighton.

It's difficult to argue with the merits of this decision, as Traudt returns his home state and reunites with his loved ones while also joining a Creighton program that won 24 games this year and came within a point or two of reaching the Final Four, falling to San Diego State 57-56 in the Elite Eight.

Men’s Basketball Adds Virginia Transfer Isaac Traudt
Former Nebraska Gatorade Player of the Year Has Four Years of Eligibility

Isaac Traudt, the 2022 Nebraska Gatorade Player of the Year, will transfer closer to home to play basketball at Creighton University beginning next fall. The Grand Island, Neb., native redshirted this past season at the University of Virginia and will have four years of eligibility remaining. A 6-foot-10 forward, Traudt was a four-year letterwinner at Grand Island Senior High School, where he twice was named First Team All-State. He averaged 25.3 points and 9.4 rebounds per game as a junior and 23.1 points and 8.3 rebounds per contest as a senior. As a sophomore Traudt was selected Honorable Mention All-State after he contributed 16.7 points and 6.2 rebounds per game for the Islanders.

Traudt was ranked as the No. 51 recruit in the 2022 class by ESPN.com and the No. 64 recruit in 247Sports composite recruiting rankings. "We are excited that Isaac is coming home to play at Creighton," said Creighton head coach Greg McDermott. "I've always been impressed with his work ethic and passion for the game of basketball. His versatility is a perfect fit in our system. We can't wait to get him on campus this summer!" Creighton finished the 2022-23 season last weekend in the Elite Eight with a 24-13 overall record. Virginia went 25-8 and shared the regular-season title in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
