Traudt is a 4* recruit and was the #64 recruit and at one time as high as #47. With his size of 6'`10" and 230lbs he will be a huge addition to Creighton....add in the fact that he can shoot the ball from mid-range and outside and he should complement the team well. Especially if Baylor decides to leave.
Agreed. Fantastic addition to the team. If somehow Albert Kaluma and Kalk stay, that’ll give the Jays some real length inside/out…

Now that Hunter Sallis has entered the portal, can Creighton steal him too? Bet they gave a much better chance than NE does
I think that Creighton doesn't have another scholarship available unless one of the five starters departs and I also would be surprised if he'd be willing to come back up Trey Alexander or anyone else.
OMAHA, Neb. -- On the day that one of the state's highest profile basketball recruits in history transferred to Creighton, another former five-star recruit announced he is also entering the transfer portal. Multiple sources are reporting that former Millard North standout Hunter Sallis is leaving Gonzaga after two seasons. Sallis played two seasons with the Bulldogs, averaging 16.7 minutes per game in his final year in Spokane. He scored 4.5 points per game this season, attempting just 3.2 field goals per game. He also served as one of the team's best perimeter defenders.
During his senior season at Millard North, Sallis averaged 22.2 points, 5.6 rebounds and 3.8 assists while leading the Mustangs to their first Class A title. He was a McDonald's All-American and was tabbed a five-star recruit. Nebraska and Creighton are believed to be interested in Sallis, as are a number of other big-time programs who recruited Sallis out of high school. Earlier Friday, former Grand Island standout Isaac Traudt announced he was transferring from Virginia to Creighton.
Creighton lost another member of the 2022-2023 team with Zander Yates officially entering his name in the transfer portal. Yates came to Creighton as a preferred walk on and played in 11 games during the 22-23 season after taking a redshirt during the 21-22 season. Yates was a high school teammate of Mason Miller and received interest coming out of college from Central Michigan, UT Martin and Jacksonville. Yates is an incredible movie/video talent off the court and will be most remembered for his performance against St. Johns where he scored 9 points in four minutes.

Agree don’t think he really fits Creighton’s style but you can never have enough athletic guys that can score

Agreed..
We’ll see. But I think Sallis lands elsewhere. Would like to have him don the white and blue though…
That’s assuming everyone comes back, I still think that’s probably unlikely. I keep thinking in my head, if art leaves Isaac Traudt can take over his spot. I still hope that Baylor returns as well as Trey.
Any way you look at it though, that lineup looks just as stacked, if not more than this previous season.
I’m still really curious to see what Trey and Baylor do. Those are two key pieces and both could very easily come back. I don’t think either of them are NBA ready and with NIL money they get from CU they can still earn a buck and enjoy the college ride.
Rumors that Shtolzberg is entering the portal....hate to see him go. I really thought he had some talent. (maybe the silver lining is that means more starters are anticipating coming back.
IMO the lynchpin in all of this is Kalk. The bread and butter this season was getting him the ball down low (which opened up the 3 game for Baylor, Trey, Farabello, etc) and of course his ridiculous defense. If he goes pro, everything changes and the strategy starts from the ground up.
There is no chance Kalk will be going pro. He has one more year to develop his outside shooting and fine-tune his post play to be NBA-ready.
Trey and Art might dabble with the pros, but both will most likely not go pro either. Trey is the most NBA-ready player on the team, but with NIL, there is no reason to leave prematurely when there is business to be taken care of at Creighton.
Most realistic two options: 1.)Art transferring 2.) Baylor deciding not to return and try his NBA chances (will most likely end up playing overseas).
Either one of those options wouldn't be terrible since Traudt will be able to fill in either one of these starting spots. Would be a great lineup to run it back for another memorable season.
Creighton guard Shereef Mitchell announced plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal. A fourth-year junior, Mitchell played in 36 games off the bench last season. He medically redshirted in 2021-22 after suffering a season-ending injury six games into the year.
Mitchell played around 7.3 minutes per game in 2022-23, averaging 1.8 points and 0.5 assists per game. Teammates and coaches consistently praised him for his veteran leadership and his presence in the locker room.

This is almost exactly my thought. I like Kaluma, but Traudt stepping into that spot with everyone else back would be phenomenal.

After last year’s tournament, there was big talk about Kaluma being watched by the pros. I didn’t see it in his consistency this year. He would wise to stay in college and develop.

No doubt, art isn’t ready for the NBA, I hope he just realizes that and stays another year
Art really has an issue with ball handling and dribbling in general to a spot.. He committed his share of turnovers this past season and would GREATLY benefit having one more year of work with Coach Mac and the staff..
Creighton lost a scholarship member of the 2022-2023 team with Ben Shtolzberg entering his name in the transfer portal. Shtolzberg came to Creighton as a highly touted freshman and played in 17 games during the 22-23 season . Ben made significant contributions from a scout team perspective and was able to show off the skills with a 13 point outburst vs Holy Cross. He had offers from Rutgers, Virginia Tech, Northwestern and Butler, as well as Israeli pro team Maccabi Tel Aviv, before committing to Creighton in August of 2021. As a senior in High School, Ben averaged 17.4 points, 5.8 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.4 steals per game and helped his HS to a 21-8 record.

Reef hitting the transfer portal could be a pretty good indicator that Trey and R2 will be returning..
I hope so at least, while at the same tune wishing Reef well…
Ciao..LiO…Peace
That is what I keep holding onto as well. I think with more bench guys transferring, that probably means that more starters are staying. Usually all the players sit down and talk with the coach to determine their role next season before making an announcement and I would think this means that they have been told that the starters are returning. Otherwise, I can't think of a reason that Reef and Shtolzberg would transfer if they had the opportunity to play in front 17,000 fans every night. Night going to happen at any other school that they transfer to.
Heard some more rumors today that all starting 5 will be back next year. They are close knit group and want to finish it together....of course things can always change, but that would be amazing if that happened (although I think its too early to tell at this point)

I'm not going to jinx anything so I'll zip it and remain cautiously optimistic. Though, the departure of several bench players is indicating in that direction.
Doesn't mean much at this point but here are the top teams in Andy Katz's Power 36:
Power 36 rankings
1. UConn
2. Miami
3. Marquette
4. Creighton
5. UCLA
6. Michigan State
7. Florida Atlantic
8. Purdue
9. Kentucky
10. Duke
This much we do know: The Big East is going to be loaded and primed for a monster season in some form or fashion. Expect UConn, Marquette and Creighton to compete for the league and national title. Xavier and Providence, which will be led by new coach Kim English, should be pushing to make the field as well. And don’t sleep on St. John’s and Rick Pitino. Pitino always finds a way to be relevant and while the roster is still being formed the expectation is that he will be in the mix for a bid in year one.
