Creighton is playing @ Oklahoma St on Nov 30th as part of the Big East/Big 12 challenge.

Not sure why we have another road game (we played at Texas last year....they really need to start attracting some bigger non-conference games for home games)

Wow, worst Creighton news in a while.....Ryan Nembhard is now into the portal. There are rumors that he is going to go to Arizona. That is a shame, I really liked him.

Hopefully we are bringing in another PG, b/c that position is one of the most important in college ball. Makes me wonder why Shtolzberg went into the portal if he knew that R2 was leaving.

you jinxed it :( man, Nembhard was the last person I expected to enter the transfer portal.... huge impact to our offense as everything was ran through him.

This just makes me sick to hear..

You just never know. R2 is the starting point guard for a top 10 team that just had an Elite 8 appearance and averages nearly 18,000 fans a home game..but now wants to transfer? I guess I fail to understand why.. But I’m not in the room so I’ll continue to be bewildered by this happenstance…

Sounds like the Trey Alexander was shocked to hear the news as well. He re-twitted that "this one hurt"

R2 notified the staff on Tuesday.

The coach there recruited his brother when he was at Gonzaga. I am sure it has to do with $ as well.

Ugh, that just really is a gut punch. Hope it doesn't open the floodgates for other starters who wanted to keep the band together.

This could provide some relevant insight:
“Nembhard averaged 12.1 points and 4.8 assists this past season,” wrote Goodman. “FYI: His older brother, Andrew, was recruited to Gonzaga by current Arizona head coach Tommy Lloyd.”

I don't think Hunter Sallis is a PG but maybe that opens the door for him.

Also we are recruiting Javian Mccollum out of Siena as well.

UConn Huskies are No. 1 in 2023-24 Way-Too-Early Top 25 men's college basketball rankings

10. Creighton Bluejays

Baylor Scheierman and Ryan Kalkbrenner are both projected to be selected in the NBA draft, so we'll consider them gone for now. Arthur Kaluma could also decide to leave. If Kaluma (or Scheierman or Kalkbrenner), Ryan Nembhard and Trey Alexander all return, Creighton will have one of the best trios in the country. Virginia transfer Isaac Traudt is also a former top-60 recruit who will help inside.

Projected starting lineup:

Ryan Nembhard (12.1 PPG)
Trey Alexander (13.6 PPG)
Arthur Kaluma (11.8 PPG)
Isaac Traudt (redshirt at Virginia)
Fredrick King (3.4 PPG)

I just did a quick search and there are a ton of guards available. Max Abmas from Oral Roberts, who has a great shot at getting 3,000 pts. If we are looking for someone younger, there is Andrew Rohde who played for St. Thomas (and actually played his first collegiate game @ Creighton this year) He average 17 pts/game and is a 6'6" guard from Milwaukee.

Loved Nembhard, but there is plenty of opportunity to upgrade at the position as well.

My guess is Abmas follows his ORU coach to Texas Tech.

As much as I hate Nembhard leaving, it does open the door to transfers and Creighton has fared pretty well with them over the recent years. It will be exciting to see it unfold. Just hope the rest of the core stays intact.

Ok, so I am sorry about my late news, but…

Creighton guard Ryan Nembhard to transfer, per reports: Where could he land?

It’s not often you see a high-major guy with this big of a role with a team as successful as Creighton enter the portal. The obvious connection here is Arizona and Tommy Lloyd. Lloyd recruited Ryan’s brother Andrew to Gonzaga. Nembhard is one of the top-five transfers on the market.

Still hate that Nembhard left, but really excited at the potential transfers Creighton can get with their NIL package, being in Omaha and with the amazing fan support we have.

Saw Coach Miller posted saying “We’re on it” referring to getting a new PG. Love his response. Also from past experiences, we all know Coach Mac isn’t going to just take anyone. They have to fit the culture, which is really important, unlike another school 50 miles down the road!

CU has made the final four for one of the top PG transfers in the portal: Taran Armstrong. He played at California Baptist last year and avg:
11pts and 5.6 assts over 2 years.

Down to CU, Gonzaga, Providence and Xavier

Jays looking to bring in asst Derek Kellogg who is currently an asst with UMass. He has previously been a head coach before and was also an asst at Memphis with current asst Ryan Miller under Calipari.

Creighton men's basketball to compete in 2023 Hall of Fame Classic in Kansas City

Creighton's men's basketball team will join Boston College, Loyola Chicago and Colorado State to compete in the 2023 Hall of Fame Classic in Kansas City in November, according to a press release from Creighton Athletics. Creighton is coming off of a 24 win-season with a trip to the Elite Eight. Loyola has seen three March Madness appearances since 2018. Boston College over the past two seasons has experienced a 14-win improvement. Colorado State has had a total of four 20-win seasons since the 2016/17 season. All four teams are set to face off in the classic at T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, MO, on November 22nd and 23rd.

Utah St transfer Steven Ashworth is visiting Creighton on Friday. He shot 43.4% from 3 last year and avg 16pts, 4.5 asts and 3.3 rebs.

Only bad thing is he is only 6'1", which isn't much taller than Nembhard, but a much better shooter.

Last Thursday, it was the terrible news that R2 was leaving and now we get Baylor returning this week!
