I-680 Invington area, NW Omaha - new neighborhoods, etc.
Hello. I wanted to get peoples take on the Irvington area. More like the 114 State street (North of i680) area where there are new neighborhoods being built. Anyone live in this area? How is the commute to groceries shopping, stores, restaurants, etc. and is it a overall quiet place to live? I'm concderned about the trucking company there and the new Google plant going in...does that or could it affect the area badly with lots of traffic? I'm considering a move to this area and wanted to see what others who may live in the area think being there. Thank you kindly for your inputs.

I don't live in this area but I am somewhat familiar with it. My only concern would be if you work downtown. It's a little longer commute than if you're in SW or just West Omaha. If you don't work downtown then it's not a big concern. The area seems quiet when I've been up there. Probably your closest shopping would be the W. Maple corridor which can't be more than a 10-15 min drive.

Though if you get travel south to Sorenson from 72nd, 60th etc - that stretch of road (Sorenson) turns into a freeway after 30th that either takes you to 480 in downtown or to the airport.

IT HAS BEEN AWHILE, BUT I think that Blair High road will take you to Sorensen. I would like to live east of Washington County Airport. Hillly and quiet imo.

Thank you for your reply. I'll have a super long commute no matter where in Omaha I will be. I was hoping for more about how living in that area from current homeowners in that area is. Also how it is with all the seemingly industrial/commercial companies and traffic. Thanks again. ;)Cermak wrote: Thu Apr 13, 2023 1:59 pm I don't live in this area but I am somewhat familiar with it. The exit from the Avalon/Deerwood neighborhood from Potter onto Blair Hwy is tricky at rush hour. The Celebrity development will flow into that exit or onto 114th to go to Military or State. Outside of 730-830 and 430-530 traffic is ok

I'll also add you'll almost always know when Able-1 is up as the area is in the flight path to get to and from the Blair Airport.

That should be getting a light sooner than later. See the Cherry Creek Thread.bbinks wrote: Fri Apr 14, 2023 7:38 pm The exit from the Avalon/Deerwood neighborhood from Potter onto Blair Hwy is tricky at rush hour.

I've read it. But my HOA has contacted the county who told them that there are no current plans to put a light on Potter & Blair. This was well after the Celibrity development was building homes.
I guess I'll believe it when I see it.

I live in Deerwood. It's not hard to get around town. The exit off Potter can be tricky during rush hour, I would suggest taking State Street where there's a light instead. I don't mind living here now, I'm wondering if the new Celebrity subdivision will bring more retail or just congestion. There's also a big Google data center going in on State Street, not sure how that will affect things.

Celebrity bought the other half of that farmland. No grading yet. But that will add another 200+homes. That BK by Walmart needs to go with a better alternative put in their place. There really isn't any close options.SabrinaFaire wrote: Tue Apr 18, 2023 5:21 pm I live in Deerwood. It's not hard to get around town. I'd also plug shopping at Sorensen Park and Benson Park plazas on 72nd (and not just because I work in the former) instead of trying to fight traffic to get out to West Maple

A lot of the strip stores are vacant for years now. Add to that the theater now. It's not a great destination.ProgKingHughesker wrote: Wed Apr 19, 2023 11:18 pm I'd also plug shopping at Sorensen Park and Benson Park plazas on 72nd (and not just because I work in the former) instead of trying to fight traffic to get out to West Maple
