These look really cool in person. Walked around the mall on Thursday night and these being lit up were really cool. Almost cyberpunk-ish lol.

Looking great! I love the progression of the verticals along the east facade as they gradually become more slanted where they meet the slanted South facade. Kind of mimics sound waves, which is entirely appropriate for a music venue.

Yeah, you’re right. The perspective view of the photo made the panels look more vertical toward the north end, at least to me.

It's supposed to be flex, from my understanding. Capacity ranges from 1500-3000. I assumed the max capacity is when the main floor is standing only, but they can do seats albeit at a lower capacity.

'It's going to transform the music scene':
Steelhouse Omaha on track for May opening

KETV got a sneak peek inside Steelhouse Omaha and what it will mean for the city.

A brand new venue is close to being opened in downtown Omaha with the hope of millions in economic revenue. KETV got a sneak peek inside Steelhouse Omaha and what it will mean for the city. Omaha Performing Arts says the Steelhouse Omaha is nearing completion, and once it's done, it'll be able to accommodate 1,500 to 3,000 people. Pretty soon, the empty stage will be home to a thousand songs, played by adoring fans from all over the country. That is what the people behind Steelhouse Omaha envision for the $104 million venue.

An exciting night in downtown Omaha: Steelhouse Omaha's Grand Opening had fans waiting hours to get inside

Fans were lined up for hours, Friday. Omaha Performing Arts told 3 News Now, some of the first fans in line showed up around 5 a.m. Friday to be the first in the door. Many came from Omaha, others from surrounding states, and some coming from as far as Canada or the UK. "I love the killers and my family has always talked about how if we were to see The Killers, it would be all as a family," said Ben Schott, a fan from Omaha. Schott's family jumped on the website to get tickets as soon as they were released.

I talked to one of the employees there who told me normally, incoming bands would bring some special effects/lighting equipment with them to an event, but in Killers case, Steelhouse already had it all for them!

Looks like they have built-in crowd barriers in front of the stage instead of the mobile ones held in place by the weight of people standing on them.

A couple folks I know who went to the show were very impressed with this venue..

Steelhouse is/was much needed for Omaha to catch acts that might by pass the city after hitting Denver then Chicago (vise versa) or Minneapolis then Kansas City (vise versa)…

The barriers most likely are movable but secure. For some shows they need more room for security and pulling people out where calmer shows can be closer.

As someone that worked in a larger concert venue for 10 years they made a lot of questionable functionality choices, but everything looks nice from the pictures. I can't wait to check it out.

We attended the open house and I agree it’s a nice looking facility, although the actual arena portion looked smaller than i expected. The upper outdoor balcony is very nice, as is some of the lounge space both downstairs and upstairs. The large outdoor patio is a bit of a head scratcher, however.

Went to Counting Crows last night, and damn that venue is awesome. The coolest, most modern intimate concert setting I have been to.

Band sounded great too, although I thought performance on Mr. Jones was a half assed effort lol

I also went to Counting Crows last night. The venue is an fantastic addition to downtown. Love that there are multiple drink stands, so the lines were never long. The acoustics were fantastic. Don't think I have ever been to a better sounding music venue. My only gripe was the audience. It may have been where I was standing, but it seemed like everyone around me was talking loudly throughout the performance and it got quite distracting. It's rude to both the band and people who came to enjoy a show. I will never understand why people will pay $65+ just to talk to your friends the entire time. Go to a freaking bar if you want to socialize. Can't wait for Queens of the Stone age in September.

Went to The Flaming Lips last night and just echoing the praise. Impressive venue that had a lot of thoughtful design choices. My only minor complaint was the entry line was a bit awkward, but I am sure that the kinks will get worked out.

As an aside, sure it's not the Swim Trials at the same time as the CWS, but DTO can really handle events. That is another few thousand people thrown into the mix of the CWS opening day and it was no problem at all. Downtown was buzzing last night from the Old Market to GLM to Steelhouse to the stadium. Really awesome what is going on in the city.
