'Benson Days' parade starts this weekend, bringing large crowd



Benson Days officially got started on Saturday morning with the annual Benson Days Parade.

I'm happy for them. The location further down on Leavenworth was challenging. It was small, not a lot of car traffic. They lost the coffee which was the main reason I'd go there since I don't buy a lot of physical books anymore. Want to support them when I can, because they are nice and I hope the Benson location will work better after they were booted from the 58th and Leavenworth location.

Flavas Margarita Lounge has closed and will reopen as "Off The Bone" a new place that will serve cocktails and specialize in flavored Carnival Turkey Legs. Shooting for an August opening.

The old 1912 will re open soon as the Tenant

The Rooftop above the Shaheens Afghan at 6121 maple st has been leased and work should be starting soon although I'm not sure the exact plans for it yet.

The last time you could could get any sort of groceries in Benson was when Jane’s Health Market was open and it had a small demographic.

YES! I had been saying for years the only thing strip was lacking was a small little grocery store. Oh how nice this will be to go walk and get a red onion needed for dinner. I no longer live in Benson sadly, but am happy for the community. Not amazing spot but still walk-able. I lived in Benson Lights and that walk is still much better than going to drive to Bakers.
