The Big 12 proposed this a couple years ago not long after OU and Texas left. They then added Houston, UCF, BYU, and Cincinnati after the PAC 12 rejected them.

Now the PAC 12 is hurting with USC and UCLA headed for the Big 10 and recently Colorado returning home to the Big 12.

I don’t think the Big 12 wants all of the Pac 12, now that they added the 4 teams before Colorado. Crazy how things changed.

Today is a big day for the future of the PAC 12, and college football realignment.

Agree that today is a big day, but I think what today will tell you is if the PAC 12 is done now or is done in a couple of years. Inevitably I think they are toast.

Agree that today is a big day, but I think what today will tell you is if the PAC 12 is done now or is done in a couple of years. Inevitably I think they are toast.

Agreed. Amazing how fast their fortunes turned or seemingly did. They made some big mistakes ever since this process started, including not bringing in a TV partner for their conference TV network. Crazy how much that decision hurt them more than a decade later.

no, i know that. They were the big 8, had 8 teams. Added teams, changed to big 12, then lost NU and Colorado, but picked up WV and TCU but lost Mizzou and A&M which then dropped them to 10. I was thinking more along the lines of if the name of the conference states "Big 12," they should go for 12.

Like, I think the big 10 as a moniker is dumb, because they haven't been a conference of 10 since Penn State joined 30 years ago. Now they are up to 16...

I think if you are going to say "big 10" or "pac 12" etc, you should have that number of teams. Otherwise, go the route the SEC, ACC, etc, have done and figure out something else.

Yeah it is odd. For the Big 10 I think they like the identity and brand. The Big 12 can change higher, I remember when they formed the conference they registered or trademarked (can't remember which terminology they used), both Big 14 and Big 16. Obviously when they went down to 10 teams, Big 10 was not available...
