Just imagine this event and others once the streetcar is running. I can see them running continuously and completely full every 15 minutes up to MTC and Blackstone and back. It will no doubt make for a lively corridor and increased activity at all points in between.

I love the fact that the Farnam promenade lights have a different icycle light style that leads to Farnam pier, a different style than GLMs 11th St promenade. Can't wait to see the complete end result and see pictures with the Brad treatment!

RiverFront expands with two parks set to open on August 18

The Heartland of America Park and the Lewis & Clark Landing are set to reopen on Aug.18. After about four years of construction, the RiverFront has made significant strides towards the goal of completing its 72-acre parks. "When there was talks about what we could do to kind of, breathe new life into downtown Omaha, certainly the RiverFront's redesign was a paramount piece of that conversation," said Kristyna Engdahl, MECA's director of communications.

Saw this photo on the OWH today from Farnam Pier at HOA park looking west towards downtown. When the MoO tower is complete, this will really show off Omaha's skyline nicely. A better angle than the traditional one looking down Gene Leahy Mall where the MoO is likely going to cover Woodmen up.

Also looks like railway station Liège-Guillemins too,
Its a common organic design language; I dig it.

Woodmen tower will most likely be, partially covered.
Also, I took this of Farnam pier in March, I am sure better pictures will be taken with the adequate cameras

They tend to raise and lower the flag in certain days, like in the 4th of July.
I wonder why they chose not to place the American flag and the Nebraskan flag?
It would look nice to see both Iowa and Nebraska fly their flags on both sides of the river.

I have seen it up before, but then was taken down. I am not sure what the reasoning was, but I just assumed it was due to wind at the time. Hopefully it stays up for good now

I think earlier this year, like the flag, they have been running it periodically. I saw it on like late spring, early summer. Anyway, glad it's back on. Could you tell if it's running at full strength? I have been thinking about that since the north side trail is much closer now.

I know the official opening is Aug 18 (next Fri), but does anyone know if the HOA park / riverfront park is planning a soft opening before that? Have to be downtown with the kiddos this Friday and was hoping we'd get to play on some of the new stuff...

I was able to walk the entire park yesterday, from 8th and Farnam all the way to the Marina and back. Its fantastic. Everything is larger in person! Its going to be a huge hit when it opens on the 18th. I'll share some photos a bit later.

I had the exact same thought when I saw that shot last night. While I will always take more height for developments downtown, and for this particular one, I lamented that it was built wrong side down, I like that from HOA it does not really block the skyline, but adds to it.

Yes, I think once Mutual tops out a popular skyline shot will be on the southeast side of the "lake" where the Woodmen would still be visible.

In the meantime, when all the parks are open, perhaps we might be treated to some whirly bird shots via Brad?

Yesterday during the parade, I saw Lewis and Clark Landing and Heartland of America; getting a soft opening. Both parks were letting people in, but when I asked what we needed to do to go in the park, they told us only people that worked and their families that worked in the park were allowed.

Honestly the people that worked on the parks, deserve to get first dibs because their work and efforts have turned out fantastic!

The existing marina on the north end of Lewis and Clark Landing has been restored, but perhaps you're referring to the lagoon surrounding the fountain, which we've been told over the years would be impossible, most notably, the flood threat, logistics of a 'hole in the levy', railroad right of way.
