The Dairy Queen in Seward was torn up and a new one was rebuilt near the old one. It's on NE 15 in case anyone's wondering.

The gross McDonald's in Seward that should have been condemned just had a major remodel as well.

Yes, I've seen it. It looks nice. I haven't been in there yet. Maybe someday I will.

It's still run by the same people who somehow manage to make it consistently one of worst McDonald's stores in the state, lol. Don't waste your time.

Especially when compared to the train wreck that many BKs have become.

There’s a sign on the Long John Silvers at 44th and Dodge saying they’re going to remodel it soon.

It appears the Taco John's on 108th and Maple is remodeling. Interesting to see after other TJ's have seem to close lately.

A lot of the ones I have seen have just remodeled. I know in the past 2-3 years, they remodeled the Saddle Creek one, both CB locations and Bellevue (all owned by the same owners)

LJS tends to do the customer-facing stuff only. So, updated exterior and dining room, but look behind the counter into the kitchen and the restaurant's age will reveal itself. Though, most customers probably don't notice and it saves them money to not renovate the entire place.

I didn't realize TJ's Bellevue location was old enough to remodel. Their original location at 2203 Avery Rd E has been there since at least the 1980s, but they abandoned it (it's now an Abelardo's) and moved into a new building at 1314 Harlan Dr in like 2007. So, the new(ish) location isn't super fresh at 16 years old, but hardly worthy of a remodel just yet.

It looks like the Long John's/KFC off 132nd and Maple is remodeling as well. It's closed and they just repainted the whole building white. Also, the size is gone.

If they painted it white, that says to me permanently closed. That’s what they did to the KFC around 42nd and Dodge.

Was just gonna say the same thing. Has that building still not been filled? I haven't specifically paid any attention to it driving by. If so, it's been empty forever.

The inside has been closed lately at 144th and Maple. Last night I noticed both the inside and drive thru are currently closed.

Drive thru has reopened. Dining room is still closed and you can see work going on in there.

Crazy the difference between Taco Bell and BK. TB has remodeled this location more than once and BK down the street hasn't changed I believe in decades.

I think I might have posted this elsewhere but in case not the DQ near 114th and West Dodge Rd. will close soon for a tear down and rebuild. Desperately needed.

Funny, they were just talking about this on 1620 the other morning. Back in the day you could tell a restaurant by the building shape, but now you can't.

Does anyone know what may be a possible replacement for the KFC on 132nd & Maple? There is no sales information, but there is a new permit to replace the heating/cooling units on the roof. The KFC closed 1.5 years ago or so.

People keep asking Grow Omaha that question and I’ve dug and dug and haven’t found anything yet. I can look again when I get back to my computer.

Seems like this is a new location with dual drive-thru (to allow for mobile orders). When did this location open?

Yeah, I believe so. Douglas County Assessor says it was built in 2016 and even that seems longer than I thought, but it was tore down.

DQ on 114th and Dodge is reopen, and just in time for Berkshire. Dining room is significantly smaller than previously. Parking lot doesn't look like it had a meteor shower attack any longer.

But I can confirm that it'll likely end up as dirty as the old one. Less than 1 week in and it already feels sorta gross, even with everything being new... Several dirty tables, and other food waste that appears to have been swept into a corner rather than actually cleaned up.

Clearly it was less of a facility issue, and more of a training / staff issue...
