I’m wary of scrapping that many old buildings for something shiny and new, especially in the Old Market.iamjacobm wrote: Wed Aug 23, 2023 2:56 am I would be pro a developer getting a hold of this and every other building over to Pepper Jax and scraping them for something way better on the site.

I haven't felt the need to stop in to Eat the Worm in over 10 years, but now this has me questioning recent stops in Tokyo Sushi.

I love the Old Market, but it seems like that has been the case for quite a few buildings. They charge rent for restaurants, shops and apts, but little to no maintenance is ever done. I definitely don't want to lose the old stock of buildings, but they could use some sprucing up as well as the sidewalks, streets and sitting areas.

I feel like that particular stretch would benefit from having more commercial things to the west, creating more walking traffic through the street. It never seems as busy as the rest of the OM.skinzfan23 wrote: Wed Aug 23, 2023 1:46 pm I love the Old Market, but it seems like that has been the case for quite a few buildings. rat was caught on camera by a customer. posted on facebook and reddit.NEDodger wrote: Wed Aug 23, 2023 3:56 am It's a 113 year old building so I can't say I'm completely surprised. I'm curious how many others are in unknowingly dire shape. It's great to be able to keep old stock but if it's not checked/kept up..... . What specifically was "today's event" that marked a drastic shift?

I would imagine they have to be looking at the old monster pub bar that’s a few doors down and pretty similar sizes. We’ll see

Relocating isn't free and they have the PR hit they took as a result of their rat problem hitting social media. I wouldn't be surprised if they closed to relocate and never reopen. I'm not hoping for that by any means, but it seems very possible.
That said, where's a good place in Omaha to get Mezcal?

I really like Tokyo Sushi. You can’t beat it for the price if you like Japanese food and don’t want to spend $75 for a meal.

After 14 years, 'Eat The Worm' is being forced to leave the Old Market
The structure of the building is unsafe for the business and residents in the above apartments to live in. The city shut it down after discovering 13 code violations.

The All you can eat lunch is great. It's not Yoshitomo by any means, but it's better than grocery store sushi. Sure, they use more rice in their rolls, but you'll leave satisfied.BensonBunnyBoy wrote: Wed Aug 23, 2023 7:40 pmis that place any good?Stan wrote: Wed Aug 23, 2023 1:41 pm I haven't felt the need to stop in to Eat the Worm in over 10 years, but now this has me questioning recent stops in Tokyo Sushi.

You'd think there would be a corroborating story on one of the local news stations, but I'm not finding any.
