Bluejay Men's Soccer Announces 2023 Schedule

Coming off its sixth trip to the College Cup during the 2022 season, Creighton Men's Soccer announced the Bluejays' 2023 schedule. Three exhibition matches prepare the Bluejays for the 2023 season as Creighton will host Northern Illinois (Aug. 12) and Drake (Aug. 16), then wrap up the preseason with a neutral site match against Missouri State in Kansas City on Aug. 19. The 2023 regular season begins in California with matches at Stanford (Aug. 24) and UC Irvine (Aug. 27). The first of seven regular season matches in Morrison Stadium brings Grand Canyon to Omaha on Sept. 1. The Bluejays return to the road to face Denver on Sept. 4, then host Michigan in the Annual Socctoberfest on Sept. 8.

Creighton heads back to Kansas City on Sept. 12 as the Bluejays face the Kansas City Roos, then kick off BIG EAST play at home against Marquette on Sept. 15. The month of September continues with road matches at Tulsa (Sept. 19) and at DePaul (Sept. 23), then the Bluejays face off with Xavier on Sept. 29. The final non-conference match of the season brings the crosstown rivals, Omaha, to Morrison Stadium on Oct. 3. Closing out the regualr season with five BIG EAST contests the Bluejays go to Butler (Oct. 7) and Seton Hall (Oct. 14), then host new BIG EAST affiliate member Akron on Oct. 18 and Connecticut on Oct. 21. The regular season finale takes the Bluejays to New York for a match with St. John's on Oct. 28.

Former Bluejay Duncan McGuire Nominated For ESPY
McGuire Becomes Creighton's Second Athlete Nominated for an ESPY

During the summer of 2022, Creighton men's soccer junior Duncan McGuire began a journey that would exceed the dreams of himself, his coaches, teammates and soccer players throughout the country. Another cherry was added this week as McGuire was nominated for the 2023 ESPY for Best College Athlete in Men's Sports. McGuire is just the second Creighton athlete in school history to be nominated for an ESPY, joining Doug McDermott who won the Best College Athlete in Men's Sports award in 2014. The 2023 ESPY Awards will be announced during the Award celebration on ESPN on July 12, beginning at 7:00 p.m. (CT).

Bluejay Men's Soccer Introduces 2023 Incoming Class

Coming off a tremendous return to the College Cup during the 2022 season, Creighton's sixth College Cup appearance, Creighton men's soccer has added 11 new faces for the 2023 season. Joining the Bluejays are: Pablo Andrade, Miguel Arilla, Lucio Berron, Nick Cenek, Blake Gillingham, Fefo Granados, Edward Morales, Ali Ramadan, Omar Ramadan, Matthew Reed and Andrijia Savic. "This is strong incoming group that will both fill gaps on our team and help us remain at the elite level of the sport," said head coach Johnny Torres. "Our staff, headed by recruiting coordinator Ian Sarachan, continually do an excellent job evaluating and bringing tremendous talent for to Creighton."

Men's Soccer Ranked 8th by United Soccer Coaches Association in Preseason Poll

After reaching the sixth College Cup in program history last season, the Creighton men's soccer team earned a No. 8 ranking in the United Soccer Coaches Association Preseason Poll, released on Tuesday, August 1. The Bluejays appeared in the poll twice during the 2022 season, closing the year at No. 9 (December 13) and checking in at No. 7 on August 30. Despite losing the 2022 MAC Hermann Award winner Duncan McGuire as well as Owen O'Malley to the MLS Draft following the 2022 season, the Bluejays are poised for another strong showing in 2023. Returning to lead the offensive attack is assist leader Giorgio Probo (14 assists and five goals), Jackson Castro (10 goals and 8 assists) as well as Dominic Briggs (four goals) and Alfie Pope (four goals). Along the back line the Bluejays will be anchored by senior Luke Mitchell and junior Mark O'Neill.

Creighton opens the 2023 regular season at No. 7 Stanford on Aug. 23 at 5:00 pm (CT). Two additional Bluejay opponents start the year in the preseason rankings as BIG EAST foe Akron is No. 22, while Tulsa is No. 16. Just outside the rankings are Denver (RV) and Providence (RV)

Men's Soccer Opens 2023 Exhibition Season with 4-0 Win Over Northern Illinois

The Creighton men's soccer team picked up the 2023 exhibition right where the 2022 College Cup team left things, scoring goals seemingly at will. The Bluejays delivered a 4-0 win over Northern Illinois in the opening match of the exhibition season on Saturday, Aug. 12.

Creighton returns to the pitch on Wednesday, Aug. 16 as the Bluejays host Drake in the second exhibition match for squads at 6:00 p.m. in Morrison Stadium.

Kansas City, Mo. - Battling temperatures that reached as high as 105 on the pitch, the Creighton Men's Soccer squad posted a 2-1 win over Missouri State in the final friendly for each team on Saturday, Aug. 19. The Bluejays tallied the first two goals as Miguel Arilla and Alfie Pope scored for Creighton.

Creighton will open the 2023 regular season at Stanford on Thursday, Aug. 24 at 5:00 pm in a battle of ranked foes. The Bluejays enter the match at No. 8, while the Cardinal comes in at No. 7.

Men's Soccer Celebrates Socctoberfest with 3-1 Win Over Michigan

Omaha, Neb. -- Creighton Men's Soccer found its scoring touch as the Bluejays delivered three first half goals to defeat Michigan on Friday, September 8th as over 4,000 fans helped the Bluejays celebrate Creighton's 11th Annual Socctoberfest. The win pushed Creighton to 1-2-2 on the season, while Michigan fell to 1-2-2 as well.

The Bluejays return to action on Tuesday, September 12th as Creighton travels to face the Kansas City Roos at 7:30 p.m.

Omaha, Neb. -- Bluejay Men's Soccer sent the seventh largest crowd in program history (5,595) home happy as Creighton bested No. 13 Marquette 2-1 on Friday, September 15. The victory pushed the Bluejays to 2-3-2 on the season and 1-0-0 in BIG EAST action, while Marquette fell to 6-1-0 overall and 0-1-0 in conference play.

Seeing Red, Bluejay Men's Soccer Rallies for 2-2 Draw

After stopping a penalty kick in the first half, another PK started a wild second half as Creighton Men's Soccer rallied for a 2-2 draw against Omaha on Tuesday, October 3 at Morrison Stadium. Following the Tuesdays action the Bluejays moved to 3-4-4, while the Mavericks moved to 4-3-3.
