Former Mark’s Bistro

Heard some information recently that the former Mark’s Bistro building was being remodeled for a new restaurant and that it was being done through the Sherwood Foundation. The assessor’s site does show the property was sold in October 2022 for $1.5MM to an entity called K Richard Company, LLC. Sure enough, the only Google listing for K Richard has the same address and suite number as the Sherwood Foundation.

Anyone have more info on this? Would be great to have another option in Dundee, especially with the closing of Dario’s. Apologies if there’s a better place to post this on the forum but I didn’t see a previous thread on Mark’s.

Nice catch, thank you for sharing. Mark's was one of my favorite restaurants not just for the food but for the vibe as well. I really miss that place and the jazz club underneath. Big shoes to fill there but I would love to see that all come back in a new and hopefully just as good or better incarnation.

Nice catch. I've been waiting for some news like this so thank you for sharing. I am also glad to hear it is tied to the Sherwood Foundation. That tells me that something good will go here as a targeted investment in the future of Dundee rather than just a general purchase of local real estate. Mark's was one of my favorite restaurants, not just for the food but for the vibe as well. I really miss that place and the jazz club underneath. Vibe was good, food was nothing special and I have a feeling that was one of the reasons it closed.

In a foodie town like Omaha, it’s a bummer when a popular restaurant closes. One of those well-loved spots is Mark’s in Dundee. “This is probably the premier building up and down in the Dundee Underwood business district,” said Mark’s Co-founder Molly Romero. Mark’s opened in 2003 and closed last year — another casualty of the pandemic.

That's how Tim Steinbach, executive director of Ooh De Lally, described his new business. "It's not just a job," Steinbach. "We're going to really be kind of enveloping the whole person as they come out and making sure that they have the best chance of success." Taking the place of long-time Dundee staple, Marks, Ooh De Lally will be serving new American cuisine, but more importantly, dishing up new opportunities for formerly incarcerated people.
