Nebraska announces some discounts on Peacock subscriptions. I imagine this is being done at all Big 10 schools. Good marketing.

In May I got an offer to subscribe to Peacock for 19.99 for one year. Used a single-use CC generated off of my CitiBank card so I do not have issues with auto renewal. Looks like it was good to have done that. This was before it was announced , or at least I was aware that any B1G stuff would be on there.

I watch some on their service but we will have to see how much B1G is on there before I decide to renew next May.

That's a really good deal. Will be interesting to see how much Big 10 programming goes to Peacock. With 4 more teams next year, that's a lot of additional inventory. Will be interesting to see if any volleyball ends up on there (ratings seem to justify more volleyball on TV). I don't have BTN+, so I'd like to see the more stuff on Peacock.

You can subscribe to just the coverage for one school for a year for something like $79. They ran a discount a couple of months back that I was able to snag, and it is already on my account for the next renal at 47.97 ( Just logged in to check) It was an option for new and renewals at your next renewal date.

Gets access to everything Huskers. Live, replays, and documentaries. Of course, for more $$ you can get all teams all the time but I don't need that.

Numbers to Know
74.4 -Nebraska averaged 74.4 points per game on 50 percent shooting over the last nine games after averaging 65.4 ppg in the first 23 contests. That is a big reason why NU went 6-3 down the stretch.

746.8 - Miles that Nebraska will travel during non-conference play this season. Nine of the Huskers' non-conference games are at home with trips to Sioux Falls, S.D. (475.2 miles, round trip) to face Oregon State and a road game at Kansas State (271.6 miles). Last year, NU traveled over 6,000 miles (6,053) during non-conference action.

20.3 - Keisei Tominaga was one of the Big Ten's top scorers down the stretch of the 2022-23 season. After Feb. 1, he averaged 20.3 ppg on 56 percent shooting. He joined National Player of the Year Zach Edey and first-team All-American Trayce Jackson-Davis as the only three Big Ten players to average 20+ ppg from Feb. 1 until the end of the season.

409 - Combined starts for the 2023-24 Huskers at the NCAA Divison I level. Jarron Coleman comes into the 2023-24 season with 86 career starts, just ahead of Josiah Allick (84) and Rienk Mast (79).

3.14 - Nebraska posted a team GPA of 3.14 during the 2022-23 academic year. The Huskers were a finalist for the Herman Team GPA award for the first time in program history. In addition, NU matched a school record with six Academic All-Big Ten selections.

Huskers Open Season with Lindenwood Monday Night
The Nebraska men's basketball team opens the 2023-24 season Monday night, as the Huskers host Lindenwood in a non-conference contest. Tipoff between the Huskers and Lions is set for 7 p.m. and tickets are available for the matchup by visiting Huskers.com/Tickets, calling 800-8-BIGRED during business hours (Mon.-Fri., 8 a.m.-5 p.m.) or at PBA beginning at 5:30 p.m.

Monday's game is a first of a four-game homestand for the Big Red, as the Huskers will leave Lincoln once before Big Ten Conference play begins on Dec. 6, a neutral-site matchup with Oregon State in Sioux Falls, S.D., on Nov. 18.

The Huskers battled with injuries heading into the exhibition game with Doane, as NU dressed just six scholarship players in the 84-53 win on Oct. 29. Sam Hoiberg and C.J. Wilcher were among five Huskers in doubles figures with 15 points apiece, as Nebraska used a 17-2 run early in the second half to take control. Hoiberg, who moved into the lineup when it was learned that Matar Diop would be out earlier that morning with strep throat, hit 7-of-9 shots from the field and had four steals and three assists in a team-high 29 minutes. In all, the Huskers shot 53 percent from the field and forced 16 turnovers against Doane. Another encouraging sign was the Huskers had just eight turnovers and a nearly 2-to-1 assist to turnover ratio.

Nebraska also received strong performances from a trio of newcomers in the win. Freshman Eli Rice led NU with a game-high 18 points, while transfers Jarron Coleman (12 points, three assists) and Brice Williams (10 points, five rebounds) also finished in double figures in their Husker debuts.

NU's opener is the first-ever meeting between the Huskers and Lindenwood, which moved up to Division I in 2022-23 and is a member of the Ohio Valley Conference. The Lions went 11-21 last season and return a pair of starters for Head Coach Kyle Gerdeman. Keenon Cole is back after earning second-team All-OVC honors by averaging 12.9 points on 52.4 percent shooting in 2022-23.

Looking at Lindenwood
Lindenwood begins its second season of its Division I transition on Monday when it takes on Nebraska. The Huskers are one of two power conference teams on Lindenwood's schedule, as the Lions will face Iowa State on Thursday.

Lindenwood, which will be eligible for the NCAA Tournament in 2026-27, was at the NAIA level until 2010 before moving to the Division II ranks. The Lions, who were picked to finish 10th in the Ohio Valley Conference preseason poll, return two starters and six letterwinners from last season.

The returnees are led by forward Keenon Cole, as the 6-foot-7 forward earned second-team All-OVC honors in 2022-23 by averaging 12.9 points and 5.7 rebounds per game while shooting 52 percent from the field and 46 percent from 3-point range. The Lions have added a pair of Division I transfers in Keith Haymond II (Northern Arizona) and Amoro Lado (Hawaii) as well as guard Darius Beane (Cal State Northridge), who sat out last season at Lindenwood.

Kyle Gerdeman is in his fifth season at Lindenwood after serving as an assistant coach at Central Michigan and Southeast Missouri State at the Division I level. He was also the head coach at Moberly (Mo.) Area Community College before taking the position on the SEMO staff.

Monday's meeting will be the first between the Huskers and Lindenwood on the basketball court. NU is 20-1 all-time against the current members of the Ohio Valley Conference.

For Openers
Nebraska begins its 128th season of basketball on Monday night against Lindenwood. Here are some facts and figures about season openers for the Husker basketball program.

Nebraska is 86-41 (.677) all-time in season openers and has won 20 of the past 22 season openers dating back to an 87-83 setback at Oral Roberts to begin the 2000 season.
The Nov. 6 start is one of the earliest starts in program history. It matches the 2018-19 season opener as the second-earliest start in program history.
Nebraska has scored 70+ points in nine of the last 10 season openers dating back to the opening of Pinnacle Bank Arena in 2013-14.
Lindenwood is one of three first-time opponents on the Huskers' 2023-24 schedule, joining Rider (Nov. 13) and Stony Brook (Nov. 15).
Last Time Out: Huskers Top Doane in Exhibition
Freshman Eli Rice had 18 points to lead five Huskers in double figures, as Nebraska took control in the second half of an 84-53 win over Doane on Oct. 29.

Rice hit 7-of-14 shots from the floor, including a trio of 3-pointers, as a short-handed Husker team pulled away after halftime. Nebraska, which was down to five scholarship players available after a first-half injury to Keisei Tominaga, shot 57 percent from the floor and outscored Doane, 46-26 after halftime.

C.J. Wilcher and Sam Hoiberg added 15 points, each, combining to hit 13-of-18 shots from the field, while Jarron Coleman and Brice Williams added 12 and 10 points, respectively. Nebraska, which had just one player taller than 6-7, shot 53 percent on the night and forced 16 Doane turners which led to 21 points. Hoiberg had four steals and was one of four players with multiple steals in the win.

Coleman scored seven of his nine second-half points in a decisive 17-2 spurt that turned a 38-32 lead into a 21-point cushion, at 55-34, with 13:24 remaining. The Huskers eventually stretched the margin to 35 before cruising to a 31-point win. Cam Binder led Doane with 12 points, including four 3-pointers, while River Johnston added 10 markers.

A Quick Look at the Huskers
Nebraska enters the 2023-24 season with its most experienced roster in Fred Hoiberg's five seasons at the helm. The Huskers returned seven letterwinners and three redshirts while adding seven new players to the roster.

For the first time since 2018-19 and the third time since 2012-13, the Huskers return more than 50 percent of their scoring from the previous year.

For the most part, everyone with that got decent minutes had a good night except for Eli Rice. Rice hasn't got a lot of preseason hype compared to Keisei and the transfers, but I have felt he'd be not just a role player but an impact one. Will need to produce more going forward to do that.

As Nebraska gets healthy (and Gary completes his punishment/suspension/or whatvever it's called), minutes will be very competitive. Was glad to see Sam Hoiberg lead the team in scoring. Assuming because he's the coaches son, but I don't think he got near the credit he deserved for how much he contributed and how well he played down the stretch for us last year.

Again, this seems weird to say, but I hope he gets a fair shake this year once the team is back to full strength. Most of his playing time last year came in the Big 10 and he proved he can compete at that level.

Huskers officially sign their now class of 2. Janowski and Frager.

Lincoln – The Nebraska men’s basketball program added a pair of top-150 recruits on Wednesday, as Braden Frager (Lincoln, Neb.) and Nick Janowski (Pewaukee, Wis.) have signed National Letters-of-Intent on Wednesday, the first day of the fall signing period.

Both recruits are in the top-150 of their respective classes by 247, as Jankowski is ranked No. 114 in the 247Sports composite while Frager, who will reclassify to the class of 2024, is ranked No. 147 in the class of 2025.

“I am excited to add both Braden and Nick to our program for next year,” Nebraska Head Coach Fred Hoiberg. “Both are highly competitive and fit the culture that we have established. Both are excellent shooters and can play on or off the ball which is important in our offensive system.”

Frager stays close to home, as he is a Lincoln native who plays for Coach Alex Bahe at Lincoln Southwest High School. He is a three-star recruit by 247Sports and On3 and ranked the No. 147 player in the class of 2025. Frager earned honorable-mention all-state honors as a sophomore in 2022-23, averaging 11.4 points and 7.0 rebounds per game as Lincoln Southwest went 15-9 and reached the district final. Frager shot 48 percent from the field, including 42 percent from 3-point range. Frager plays for the ETG Midwest AAU program and selected Nebraska over Creighton, Iowa State and Iowa.

“Braden is hard-playing wing with good size,” Hoiberg said. “He is a high-flying athlete who can finish with authority at the rim and can score at all three levels. Braden is a very confident kid who plays with an edge.”

Janowski is a 6-foot-3 guard who plays for Coach David Burkemper at Pewaukee (Wis.) High School. A four-star recruit by ESPN.com, he ranked among the nation's top 125 seniors by 247Sports, On3, and Rivals. He begins his senior year with 1,374 points and has helped the school win three consecutive WIAA Division 2 state championships. As a junior, he earned first team all-state honors, averaging 23.2 points, 4.9 assists, 6.5 rebounds, and 1.4 steals per game as Pewaukee went 27-3 on the season. For his career, Janowski has averaged 16.3 points, 3.3 assists, and 4.3 rebounds per game while shooting 63 percent from the field and 47 percent from 3-point range. He has helped lead Pewaukee to a 71-9 record over the last three seasons. Janowski played AAU for Phenom U in the EYBL circuit. He selected Nebraska over a host of schools including Wisconsin, Marquette, Iowa State, and USC.

"The thing that stands out about Nick is his competitiveness. He knows how to win and the work it takes to be successful," Hoiberg said. "He plays for one of the best programs in Wisconsin and possesses an outstanding work ethic. Nick is a combo guard who is one of the best shooters in his class.”

I will be honest, I had no idea they had already played Creighton. It’s rough for teams to do this but saves money on travel.

Former Husker Coach Barry Collier has retired. Of all the Husker coaches going back to Moe Iba. He was probably my least favorite. Obviously didn't win, and not exactly entertaining style of play. He's viewed quite differently at Butler:

The low point for me was two Feb / March weekends in Lincoln a week apart. They were both great weather Saturdays, and the one weekend I was at the Class B Girls state champ game in the Bob. The other a top 5 ranked Texas men's team comes to Lincoln to take on the Huskers. For actual attendance, there were at least twice as many at the Girl's high school game as at the Div 1 Men's game.

At the end of his last season obviously Husker fans were ready to move on. Pederson had also ticked off many and I assume donors were not reacting well for him. Lane Grindle was hosting Husker Nightly. Kept defending not firing Collier yet because he said it might not be the right off season, and there might not be a good option left for NU to hire.

This set me off so I called in. It was getting ugly on calls (and Pederson famously had a temper for the radio guys that worked on the Husker radio network). I called in and the screen asked my name and what I wanted to talk about. I said Collier and Pederson. He asked why Pederson. I said I believed Collier needed to go, and said it was wrong to keep a coach employed for another that you had determined needed to go. Said if Pederson knew Collier was a failure, he needed to make the move, and if he couldn't find someone suitable, then obviously he needed to go too. I then said I was concerned Pederson didn't have the money for the buyout and that's why he wasn't making the move. They did not put me on the air....

I remember hearing stories that Pederson was fuming about Matt Davidson openly criticizing some of the football games on the radio. But he knew he was already on shaky ground and Davidson was still beloved and untouchable....

For getting BC on his way, the Huskers could not have gotten any luckier to have the Butler AD job open up when it did. Not a traditional time to be looking for a Head BB coach, and it never produced great results. That being said, we were better off without BC and didn't have to pay a buyout.
