Read an article where it sounds like McCord has moved on from Nebraska being his next school.

Yep. Now possibly going to Syracuse, though…seems odd. I didn’t see any news about his WR Julian Fleming that was supposed to come with him though. He would be just as important of a get especially if Raiola gets flipped.

I’d be curious to see what Rhule does now. If they are still able to flip Raiola, does he still look to try and get one of the other portal QBs for Raiola to sit behind for a year or does he turn over the starting job to Purdy and just let Raiola overtake him whenever that were to happen within the year?

My take at this moment.
McCord is gone
Raiola will be in
Raiola will start as QB1 for game 1 of the 24 season
Purdy will be the QB2
Wild Card: Casey Thomas will be back on the Husker bench as a backup. He is in Lincoln, The NCAA has granted him a seventh season due to injury, and the COVID year. He is listed on the UNL student directly as a grad student.

QB Daniel Kaelin cancels visit to Michigan State; remains solid to Nebraska

Nebraska’s 2024 recruiting class received another big boost Friday. Bellevue (Nebraska) West quarterback Daniel Kaelin did not take an official visit to Michigan State. The 6-foot-3, 200-pound signal caller canceled his trip to East Lansing and remains a solid commit to the Huskers, according to two sources close to Kaelin.

I saw that the new MSU coach from Oregon State has his #2 QB transferring in. And I think he has 3 yrs left. Kaelin ended up in a bad spot

It’s official…he’s flipped. This is Rhule’s golden ticket. If he’s a great developer of talent I think he is. It’s the rebirth of the program

Hopefully this guy turns out great. Huge catch for the Nebraska program. But star rankings is just a part of the overall picture. Wish him well at Nebraska.

He's a huge get. Probably the highest touted recruit ever for Nebraska. I have cautious optimism about getting him. He could still flake out, or he could get injured, or the whole rest of the QB room could bail. It'll be interesting to see which other players could potentially come here due to his presence. It's a pretty big deal, but still cautious. I hope Purdy doesn't leave, it could be a nice QB competition.

He is the highest ranked recruit, at least since the ranking era began(mid-2000's to present). A former roommate of mine was a player during the Callahan era and has maintained good connections in the programs. He said Nebraska was Raiola's first choice and Scott Frost |expletive| it up. I highly doubt he is a going to bail.

I look forward to having at least decent quarterbacking in the future. A decent quarterback this year and the Huskers very well would have been 10-2. I think the future is looking very bright 8)

Husker quarterback Chubba Purdy plans to enter transfer portal

Nebraska quarterback Chubba Purdy plans to enter the transfer portal this week, according to multiple reports. As of Wednesday evening, Purdy had yet to appear in the transfer portal, but schools have up to 48 hours to process paperwork to allow players to enter the portal. His father, Shawn Purdy, retweeted the tweet of a reporter from Sports360AZ.com, a respected outlet where the Purdys are from, that reported Chubba planned to enter the portal.

Chubba Purdy entering transfer portal. Do not like this transfer portal it’s ruined college football. It seems to be “all about me” mentality. I haven’t watched one bowl game and don’t plan to watch the playoffs, might watch the championship game. This sport has forgotten about the fan. It’s literally all about making a quick buck for oneself.

It is unfortunate to lose Chubba, but he's gotta do what's best for him. Hopefully his experience this past year will help him get the starting role somewhere that he has earned.

The transfer portal + NIL has transformed the game into the NFL youth league. Though, I'm willing to posit that star college players will start staying in the NCAA system longer as NFL rookie contracts pay less than NIL "salaries".

I agree with your NFL Light comparison, with an exception. There is no binding contract between the team and the player, and the player can walk at any time without the team's having a say or compinsation. The $$ is not "officially" coming from the team either. These two factors do make a difference.

Yes, good caveat. Without any sort of agreement between the team and the player it's a destructive free for all where neither side is able to productively manage expectations. Though, where the money comes from is a red herring, IMO. It's like the worst nudge nudge wink wink, close your eyes and pretend you don't know about the money shadow game ever. It's the "soaking" of college football where the coaches are the jump humpers and the NCAA still believes it's not pay-for-play.

Players now come and go on a whim. It’s hard to follow the sport, Nebraska’s had like a different quarterback every year now. Wouldn’t be surprised if Raiola enters portal in 2025. I was looking forward to seeing Chubba’s progress next year at Nebraska, even if he was in a backup role. Often a good backup can make the starter play better. Who cares what the fan wants.
