#22 Men's Basketball Never Trails in Record-Setting Win at DePaul

CHICAGO, Ill. -- No. 22 Creighton scored on 11 of its first 12 possessions and never trailed in a 84-58 road win over DePaul on Tuesday evening at Wintrust Arena. The victory was CU's 19th consecutive over DePaul, setting a program record over one team. Creighton improved to 12-4 on the year with its third straight win and is now 3-2 in BIG EAST play with a pair of road wins. DePaul fell to 3-12 overall and is winless in four league contests.

Jays took care of business and got the bench a ton of min. The big 3 played well, and scored 57 points. If they can take care of St. John’s Saturday they should be back in the top 20 after all the losses this week

Yep, a cake walk for the Jays that hopefully they used as a dress rehearsal for St. John's. I'll take another one of those performances from Baylor this weekend.

Slightly off-topic, the announcers on CBSSN were terrible! I get this was definitely a b-team crew, but I've watched parade announcers that had deeper commentary.

Funny you mention the announcers. They were horrible. The one guy named Chris kept commenting how they should be calling fouls on Creighton that they were calling on DePaul. Then they go on to talk about how great Wintrust Arena is and the atmosphere when its full, which it rarely ever is. Last night there were probably 2,000-3,000 fans there at most and at least 50% Creighton fans.

Then the funniest moment was his Final Four prediction of Purdue, Houston and even worse St Johns. The first 2 teams lost last night and St. Johns is ok, but not Final Four good.

With all the top teams losing this week, UCONN should be #1 when the Jays play them next week.

On another note, Gonzaga and Ryan Nembhard lost last night to Santa Clara.

That was a big win. I think this last week there were 14-15 ranked teams that lost to unranked teams and thankfully creighton wasn’t one of them. It going to be a wild year in college basketball and I am glad that the Jays protected home court against a good St. John’s team.

Big opportunity for the Jays tonight. Beat a #1 team for the first time in school history. From CU:

Creighton is 1-19 all-time against Top 3 teams, with the lone win coming on Feb. 24, 2018 against No. 3 Villanova. It would turn out to be Nova's final loss before rolling to a national title.
Creighton is 0-5 all-time against top-ranked teams, 0-7 against second-ranked squads and 1-7 against third-ranked foes.

Its still crazy to think that they have never beaten a #1 team. There was a time vs Nova when we were recruiting Tugs Bowen, Creighton jumped out to an early lead (up by as much as 10) and had all the momentum and a very loud crowd, only to give the game back. It was the 3rd largest crowd in CU history on new years eve in 2016. CU ended up losing 70-80, both teams came into the game 13-0.

Jays playing 8 on 5 and I’m not talking about the refs, UConn is man-handling them and it’s not even close.

Made a little run late but jays lost 48-62, UConn looks legit and should remain #1 for awhile. definitely better than any other team that has been #1 this year.

Top-Ranked Huskies Snap Men's Basketball's Win Streak

STORRS, Conn. -- An 18-4 run spanning halftime by No. 1 UConn was too much to overcome as the Huskies defeated No. 18 Creighton, 62-48, before a sold out crowd at Harry A. Gampel Pavilion in Storrs, Conn. Connecticut improved to 16-2 (6-1 BIG EAST) while picking up just its second win in eight all-time meetings against Creighton (13-5, 4-3 BIG EAST).

Haha, I was thinking the same thing (although Purdue is good, they are way overrated...probably gunna only make it to the Sweet 16 at the furthest again)

Its also crazy that Nebraska has done it 4 times and Creighton not even once. Of course CU didn't have many chances being in the Valley for so many years.

Jay’s playing much better today. Still not hitting many shots but Kalkbrenner is playing huge and they are actually feeding him today. Should be up by seven but gave up at three-point play with one second left. Still happy with the first half.

Men's Basketball Wins Triple-OT Thriller at Seton Hall

NEWARK, N.J. -- Ryan Kalkbrenner had 28 points as the No. 18 Creighton men's basketball team overcame a nine-point deficit with 13 minutes left to earn a 97-94 triple-overtime win at BIG EAST leader Seton Hall on Saturday afternoon before a sellout crowd of 10,481 at Prudential Center in Newark, N.J.

Creighton opens a three-game homestand on Tuesday, Jan. 23rd when it hosts Xavier at 7:30 p.m. in a game that will air on FS1.

What a game and a great birthday present for me. There were several times Creighton could have put it away and the same for Hall, but in the end Trey finally hit a big 3 and the jays put an end to hall’s win streak.

This was such a hard fought ugly game. Ashworth was bleeding from below his eye, Kalk took an elbow to the face and yet we pulled it out.

Well happy birthday!

That was a helluva game. First one of the year that had me pacing and yelling at the tv, etc. I did appreciate the refs letting them play, buuuuut that pendulum swung a bit too far. The rematch at the end of February will be an intense one for sure.

This was one of (if not the) the best college basketball games I’ve watched this season..

Honestly, win or lose, I was proud of the Jays heart and toughness..especially coming off a dismal loss to UConn..

Winning 4 of the last 5 in the Big East “ain’t” too shabby either..

Happy Birthday skinzfan…

Jays play Xavier tonight at 7:30CT. Again, a completely winnable game. Hopefully they have regrouped physically and emotionally from the 3OT weekend and are ready to play tough.

The players are saying they are ready and they beat up but this is what they prepare for. Xavier likes to run which normally would favor us. Just hope that we can get an early lead and give the starters some rest....but I doubt they get the rest.

Even though they are only 10-8, Xavier did beat Seton Hall by 20 earlier and had close games vs Uconn and Nova.

Gritty Effort Leads #17 Men's Basketball Rally Past Xavier

Three days after gutting out a grueling triple-overtime road win at BIG EAST co-leader Seton Hall, No. 17 Creighton men's basketball dug deep to knock off Xavier, 85-78, before 17,195 fans at CHI Health Center Omaha. Creighton (15-5, 6-3 BIG EAST) won for the sixth time in seven January games, while Xavier (10-9, 4-4 BIG EAST) had its three-game win streak snapped.

Another game that the Jays grinded out a win. Baylor really turned it on in the second half. All 5 starters played well.

Yeah, it was sketch there for a while. The turnovers, shooting and passing all got super sloppy midway through the second half. Glad they were able to tighten things up and nab the dub.
