With all the attention it's getting and will get, figured next season needs it's own thread.

Matt Rhule spends open night watching Jordy Bahl highlights

Nebraska’s new head football coach, Matt Rhule, is doing everything in his power to get in the good graces of his new fan base. On Thursday evening, Rhule was seen watching highlights of one of the best players in college softball, Nebraska pitcher Jordy Bahl. Bahl recently jumped in the transfer portal and transferred to the Huskers, after deciding to leave the back-to-back-to-back national champs, the Oklahoma Sooners. Bahl is a native of Nebraska, so the connection made sense.

Here’s the brief clip of Rhule spending time at home with his family watching Bahl’s highlights at Oklahoma.

Nebraska’s Jordy Bahl to miss remainder of 2024 season

LINCOLN, Neb. (Press Release) - Jordy Bahl will miss the remainder of the 2024 season after suffering a knee injury in Nebraska’s first game of the season. A junior, Bahl will apply for a medical hardship for the 2024 season. Nebraska fully expects the hardship will be granted and that Bahl will have two seasons of eligibility remaining in 2025 and 2026.

Bahl announced her season-ending injury with the following post on X/Instagram:

Increased seating at Bowlin Stadium

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Ticket demand is at an all-time high for Nebraska’s 2024 softball season. As a result, the Huskers have increased capacity at Bowlin Stadium ahead of Nebraska’s home opener on Friday. Chair-back seats now stretch from bullpen to bullpen, replacing the open, grassy areas above each dugout. Head coach Rhonda Revelle said the expansion was predicted many years ago.

“Barb Hibner, who was my mentor, said ‘Some day you’ll need to put chair-backs in those berms,’” Revelle recalled. That “some day” is now, as crews worked quickly over the past few months pouring concrete, installing chairs, and constructing bleachers at Bowlin Stadium. In addition to new field-level chairs, the Huskers also have more seating down the third-base line. A pair of metal bleachers have been installed with a clear view across the diamond.

Nebraska Athletics had 'preliminary discussions'
to hold softball game at Memorial Stadium in spring 2025

LINCOLN, Neb. — Nebraska Athletics had "preliminary discussions" last fall to hold a regular-season softball game at Memorial Stadium, according to messages obtained by KETV NewsWatch 7. However, the university told KETV that those discussions have "ceased." "There are no plans to play a home softball game in Memorial Stadium during the 2025 season," a Nebraska softball spokesperson said in a statement to KETV.

Nebraska Athletics said the discussions started after the increase in demand for softball tickets. In a November 2023 email sent by Keith Zimmer, Nebraska's executive associate athletic director to life skills, said former NU athletic director Trev Alberts had "challenged" Zimmer to "consider options" for the game after Papillion native Jordy Bahl signed with the Huskers.
