Omaha Supernovas head coach Shelton Collier reassigned after 2 matches, will remain advisor
Two matches into the Pro Volleyball Federation season, the Omaha Supernovas already are making a coaching change.
The team announced Tuesday that Shelton Collier no longer will be the head coach. Instead, he'll be an advisor for the organization.
Assistant Laura "Bird" Kuhn, who played for Collier at Georgia Tech, will serve as the team's interim coach. She was recently the head coach at Texas A&M.
...
"With the Supernovas off to a tremendous start, we need to expand our operations in preparations for our immediate future needs," team president Diane Mendenhall said in a press release. "We are fortunate to have coach Collier's experience in moving into this role as advisor."

I saw a report that they had around 9,000 at the game on Wed night. Wonder if that was actual attendance or tickets sold?

Have not and have done a little searching. The fact that I cannot find anything is a bit concerning. Maybe I am just not searching correctly eitherGreg S wrote: Thu Feb 08, 2024 10:21 amHas anyone seen anything on how attendance is going for the rest of the league?Coyote wrote: Thu Feb 08, 2024 10:19 amMy brother and sister-in-law were at the game last night, and he was saying about 9,000 were there…nebugeater wrote: Thu Feb 08, 2024 9:55 am I saw a report that they had around 9,000 at the game on Wed night. Re: The Omaha Supernovas (Pro Volleyball)
@nebraskabugeater decent start. as expected, some better than others.

5k in some cities could be iffy if they are paying $60k plus per player, but if they are pooling the money and the 11k they expect Omaha to draw subsidizes the rest of the league too, it could work. If every team has to stand on their own, gets dicey.

Re: The Omaha Supernovas (Pro Volleyball)
Went to my fist Supernovas game last night. They had between 8 and 9 thousand there. I thought that was pretty good for a weeknight and I think Creighton was playing at the same time.
We got cheap tickets that were on the end/middle. Thought the view was good. They do a real good job with the pregame show and in game stuff to keep the crowd involved and the noise level up. Only kind of downside was, I went to grab a beer immediately after set 3. They had already shut down the concessions on the upper level. Walked to the main concourse and they had some open but said alcohol sales were done for the night. A few others walked up behind me and asked as well. Seemed early since theoretically you could go 5 sets (Omaha lost to Atlanta in 4 last night, 3-1). Thought they'd be selling at least until the start of set 4. Not sure if it stops immediately after the conclusion of set 3 or before the start of set 3. Missing some possible income.
Either way, I will definitely go again. My college age son is back on Spring Break and he liked it too.

Omaha's CHI Health Center picked to host the first championship weekend for the Pro Volleyball Federation
Omaha will host the first-ever championship for the Pro Volleyball Federation. The league announced that the city's CHI Health Center will host the semifinals on May 15 and the title match on May 18. The championship will also be broadcast on CBS Sports Network.
The Supernovas have broken their own attendance record multiple times this season at CHI Health Center and hold four of the top five attendance records for pro volleyball in the country.
