Husker baseball adds commit from 2024 Texas lefty
Nebraska adds Texas lefty Aiden White to its 2024 recruiting class.

Nebraska baseball dipped into Texas on Tuesday evening, picking up a commitment from 2024 left-handed pitcher Aiden White. The 6-foot-2, 210-pound White, who also plays first base, announced his commitment on social media on Tuesday evening. “I am honored and blessed to announce my commitment to further my academic and athletic career at the University of Nebraska! Thank you to my family, coaches, and teammates for helping me get to where I am today,” he wrote. White throws a fastball that tops in the high-80s and mixes in a curveball and changeup.

Nebraska baseball continues its recruiting run with Clay Bradford and Aiden White

Nebraska baseball has certainly been active on the recruiting trail in recent days. Here's a look at the Huskers' latest additions.

Texas native transfers to Nebraska

The Nebraska baseball team picked up another commitment on Thursday morning. Outfielder Clay Bradford made the announcement on Twitter. The Atascocita, Texas native hit .419 with 14 home runs and 54 RBI for St. Mary’s University last season. Before attending St. Mary’s, he played two seasons at Temple College during pandemic-shortened seasons. In his two seasons, he appeared in 45 games, hitting .258 with a .423 slugging percentage. He was named a NJCAA Academic All-American while attending Temple. Bradford attended Atascocita High School, where he was a two-time All-District First-Team selection.

Husker baseball commit Grego hoping to play infield & pitch at Nebraska

Bellevue West junior Drew Grego says he’s always felt like baseball was his “thing.” “I went from tee ball straight into kid pitch,” he said. “I played up; when I was eight I played with 10-year-olds and I feel like that got me more mature and everything.” That maturity continued through his first two years of high school playing for head coach Jason Shockey. “Drew’s an awesome player,” Shockey said. “As good of a player he is, he’s as good if not better of an individual. Continually works on his craft. He’s one of the first freshmen that we’ve had that have started as a freshman last year.” All that work led to an offer to play at Nebraska, which Grego accepted in the winter.

Nebraska Baseball Releases 2024 Schedule

Nebraska baseball coach Will Bolt unveiled the 2024 season schedule Wednesday. The 2024 slate features 27 home games at Hawks Field and five 2023 NCAA Tournament participants, including Maryland, Nicholls, Indiana, Iowa, and Texas Tech.

The 56-game campaign begins with the Shriners Children’s College Showdown (Feb. 16-18) at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. Nebraska opens the season against Baylor, before taking on Texas Tech and Oklahoma. Big Red will also travel to Phoenix and Charleston, S.C., for consecutive four-game series at Grand Canyon (Feb. 22-25) and College of Charleston (Feb. 29-Mar. 3). The home opener is March 8 against South Alabama. NU closes the regular season with a trip to Michigan State in mid-May.

The Big Ten Tournament will be in Omaha at Charles Schwab Field May 21-26.

Oklahoma walks off Nebraska with two runs in ninth inning

Nebraska baseball headed home from Arlington, Texas, on Sunday after another ninth inning loss, this time a 7-6 decision to Oklahoma where the Sooners scored two in the ninth inning to secure the walk-off win.

After winning Friday’s opener with Baylor, Nebraska allowed three runs in the top of the ninth to lose against Texas Tech on Saturday, before dropping Sunday’s matchup.

Nebraska hits the road next week for a four-game series at Grand Canyon beginning Thursday.

Will Bolt notches 100th career coaching victory with Nebraska baseball

Nebraska baseball wasted no time getting up and staying there Friday night. NU (3-2) routed Grand Canyon (4-2) 11-1 in Phoenix, Arizona. The win guarantees at least a split of the four-game series for the Huskers. With the victory, head coach Will Bolt notched his 100th career victory, becoming the sixth coach to reach the century mark in program history.

A wild back-and-forth affair, including a six-run third inning by the Huskers, gave Nebraska its first series win of the season. The Huskers continue play next weekend with a four-game series at the College of Charleston on Thursday-Sunday, Feb. 29-March 3 in Charleston, S.C. at Patriots Point.

Huskers rally late to steal opener from College of Charleston

Nebraska baseball rallied late, scoring four runs in the top of the ninth inning and one in the top of the 10th to erase a four-run deficit and take the opening game of its four-game series with College of Charleston.

The two teams return to the diamond in Charleston at 3 p.m. CT on Friday, with the Huskers set to start senior right-hander Brett Sears.
