New Scooters Coffee is coming along nicely.
This is in Greta Landing, across 192nd Street from the HyVee gas station.

They were working on it on Sunday

What is supposed to be a Walgreens pharmacy in Gretna Landing. Across 192nd street from the rear side of the HyVee.
If this is a Walgreens, I do not see the trademark 45 deg angle entrance

The framing for the stip building near the new Hyvee in Aspin Creek.

This seems to be progressing relatively slowly. The only change I have seen in the last three weeks is that the roofing insulation panels have been set on top recently

Hawaiian Bros. Island Grill

Near Walmart and the Holiday Inn Express at Interstate 80 & Nebraska 370 Wickersham

The lot that is being graded and has more room than I think HB is using. The grading and some underground work that looks to be being done has me wondering if something else is already in the works.

Custom Diesel Drivers Training has relocated to the former Spikers building. Been there a while, and the Spiker's name is on the building still. I wonder if they will bother changing that?

Charter West Bank is coming into a remodel of the former Pinical Buiding near the Corner of Hwy 6 and 370

This seems to be the longest remodel/repurpose project around.

Noli’s Pizzeria -Gretna
Closing in a few days

I have an opinion on this place that I wanted to succeed and like, but IMO they are their own worst enemy

First - Consistance. When I went there to eat in or take out, and they were good, they were really good.

Too often, they were not, and then they were overpriced average food at best.

Marketing 0 Saw very little marketing to promote themselves and let people know they were there. Word or moth only goes so far esp. when they had, at times, some random hours. And below:

The presents from the why did NOTHING to say "Here we are"
For much of the time, their named sign on the building was not even lit up. Driving by they did not stand out.
The windows were so tinted that you could not even see the lights were on inside in the evening.
The OPEN sign that was lit up when they were open was so small and also behind the tinted glass that you had to want to look for it to find it.

All these are easy things to change if you want to make something work, but I am not convinced their heart was in the Gretna Location after they opened and people didn't flock to them.

Again, just my opinion

Crusin Cones
Gretna near Hwy 6 and 216th Street
Sort of across from the Beanery.

I have an opinion here that is maybe not the majority, but I know I am not alone, but people do not want to day.

This place looks like it belongs at a festival along the river or at a dock. Not at a main focal point going through Gretna. Granted, the metal buildings that are there are not a great sight either, but they have been there a lot longer than the time that Gretna has grown up.

If this is a food truck then it needs to be moving around and not parked all summer. I really wonder if this will sit there all winter with much of what is around it now. Hope not.

The Super 8 to Red Lion is still a work in progress. I see work happening here. I think the crew doing this is small, and I actually think that some of the people working there are living there. I see some room lights on at night vehicles in the lot. A grill outside. When I went around it on Sunday, there were a couple of guys outside in kick-around clothes, looking like they were just killing time.

I took a look at this spot last time it was vacant for the pizza concept I operate. We ultimately determined that the population density of the area wasn't high enough yet. I was bummed because I know it won't be long until it would be a great spot for us. Sorry to hear about Noli's though, I was hoping they would do well.

There is demand IMO. YOu can see the reasons I think they did not succeed in my post on this location. I really wanted them to succeed too, but you can see my thoughts on what contributed to the lack of success in my post on this.
IN addition to the points I made above it always surprised me a little that with the takeout options, you could get there that they didn't use the existing drive-through for pickup. When you drove past it all it seemed to be was a storage place for all the stuff they were not using.

If there is a small positive to be had, the interior updates that were done will work nicely for whoever is next unless it is a radical change. It deff. is not a Pizza Hut anymore. If you still have an interest, take another look!

Yes the pickup window was a huge selling point for me. 2020 flipped my business from 70%+ delivery to 70%+ pickup. (Oddly enough we avoided any shutdowns because we were a delivery restaurant and then everyone started picking up.) I'm guessing that converting from Noli's changes vs. Converting from the pizza hut would be more work, but I might check it out and run the numbers again. Last I looked at it was a few weeks after pizza hut went under.

Oooh, I like Raising Canes - my kids don't which is frustrating, LOL. They prefer Chick-fil-A which I'm not a big fan. I think it's over-hyped for what it is. It would be weird to see a Raising Canes on the side by HyVee and a Chick-fil-A on the west side of 192nd. I swear one of the layout maps someone posted on here for the Fleet Farm development had a Chick-fil-A marked on a pad.

It's listed on the bottom right corner lot on this map someone else put up. It says proposed so I don't know if that's simply someone goofing around with what they want to go there or if this is pretty much a done deal. But I also found it interesting there's a Rocket Car Wash on one side and a Tommy's on the other side. Seriously those dumb car washes must be laundering more than just cars! LOL

I can't believe how quickly that is filling in now that the HyVee is finished... especially when HyVee was having a lot of developer remorse after they committed to it due to COVID and everything else.

If the marked locations are correct then the car wash thing is extremely confusing to me. Now Chick-fil-A near a Cane's? The other two that stood out was a proposed Starbucks AND a Scooters I think on the same side (west side of 192nd). Granted the Starbucks inside the HyVee doesn't have a drive thru but between coffee places and car washes I think we're pretty well covered.

I'll never understand Raising Cane's. It's a restaurant built around a kids menu item. At best, the chicken is moist but bland. I feel like everyone is just there for the Cane's Sauce which, let's be honest, is just doctored-up ketchup and mayo. Like I said, I don't get it. I probably never will.

Hy-Vee's foot traffic has fallen off a lot. Granted, it's a large store and so there's more square footage for the customers to disperse themselves into. However, considering the investment by Hy-Vee, I'm guessing it's not the customer count they were hoping for. Now, as the area develops and Gretna grows that will certainly pick up. In the meantime, I'm going to enjoy a very spacious very modern and very uncrowded Hy-Vee. :)

I didn't realize Bell Pool & Patio closed their Gretna storefront. Their website still has the Gretna address, but their Facebook page lists no address at all. They were there like 4 years or so.

A pro sports team would qualify as a top 10. One of the unannounced resorts linked to that project would qualify as a top 10 requested location. They really need NFM or Mrs. B's to move and partner with them, so they do not have to worry about financing.

The former Noli's Pizza location has a new tenant. They have been working in it for a while, and a couple of weeks ago, a bunch of food photos were up on the windows. Yesterday, the sign went up on the building.

It will be Quality Thai Restaurant.

I did not find a website, but I did find a Facebook page and a filing for an LLC from last October.

Looks like they open next week

I've been in Gretna for 10+ years and just realized that we do not have a police department. If anything, we should have a full-time fire crew. The sheriffs department has plenty of time on their hands as they love the school zone speed traps*.

*I would fine with the lower speed if it was consistent and the signs were readable. Right now the signs list different times for three different days in small print.

I was talking to some older guys over the weekend. Gretna actually had its own police department up until the early 1980s at which point they switched to paying the Sarpy County Sheriff's department to do the policing. In fact, one of the parks in Gretna is named after the former Gretna Police Chief, Leo Royal.

So, the concept of Gretna having its own police department isn't new. It's a reimplementation of something that was already in place 40+ years ago when Gretna's population was 1,500± people. Unfortunately, Now that there's renewed interest, it's the start-up costs that has everyone choking. I believe Angie Lauritsen mentioned $6M. Though, Gretna passed a $258M school bond in 2020 without much of a struggle. So, if Gretna voters will so quickly rubber-stamp $258M for schools why not $6M for police?
