UNO hockey selected for NCAA Tournament, fifth appearance in program history
At a watch party surrounded by fans Sunday, the UNO hockey team learned its destination in the NCAA tournament. The 3-seed Mavericks will face the 2-seed University of Minnesota. They'll play in Sioux Falls Thursday, March 28, at 7:30 p.m. The Mavs selection for the NCAA tournament is the fifth in program history. It comes on the heels of the program's first-ever appearance in the Frozen Faceoff
"It's so great to see Omaha have a fantastic team like this. Seeing the growth of Omaha showing up to games from a couple of years ago, to some fans showing up to this year, where you're getting emails saying sold out sold out, it's awesome. The environment at the games — you can't beat it," fan Nick Laughlin said.
