Nebraska doesn’t not make final 5 for Brooks Bahr. Everything I saw on him looked great. Ended up signing with BYU:

Bryan's A'mare Bynum is a national top 100 recruit. On3 has him at No. 83, 247Sports at No. 98 and Rivals.com at No. 115. ESPN does not have him ranked.

Nebraska was the first to offer, but he holds many others including Creighton:

Nebraska star recruit/signee had a great post season. They ended up losing in the final though, which would have been a 4 peat as they had won the previous 3 state titles. Looks to be an immediate contributor:

Not really the right thread, but is this the first year that both the womens and mens teams from Nebraska and Creighton have made the dance?

Not 100% sure, but I have read elsewhere that this is the first time all four teams are in the NCAA tourney at the same time. Keep in mind that with the Husker, Men hardly ever make it, so the chances of achieving this start out really tough!

Interesting fact - Jack Gohlke - Oakland - who this week dropped 32 on Kentucky on 10-20 shooting from 3 went to Pewaukee HS as did the NFL Watt brothers - JJ, TJ and Derek.

Nebraska guard Ramel Lloyd Jr. enters transfer portal

Nebraska guard Ramel Lloyd Jr., has entered the transfer portal on Monday morning, per a source.
Lloyd, a former three-star recruit out of Sierra Canyon High School in California, redshirted in his first season on campus in Lincoln and did not appear in a game this year for the Huskers. Nebraska was slated to begin meetings with each of its players on Monday to talk about next season.

The 6-foot-6, 210-pounder chose the Huskers in high school over offers from Arkansas, Oregon, Arizona State and Georgetown among others.

Yeah not surprising at all. Would love to know the ins and outs of what went on with him. Just crazy how he never saw the court, at all. I thought maybe there was some sort of serious heath issue that might be keeping him off the court permanently. Obviously that's not the case. A mystery on his time here.

This one is a little more surprising. He was getting time and seemed to be a natural scorer. I know he defense was suspect. Too bad he ended his career here injured.

I believe this one happened after the one-on-one player meetings. Who knows which side it was a good idea to part ways?

Very true. I think many always assume it's the player that wants to leave but it can be a mutual decision or if the player is not working out or developing as thought, they are in some ways led by the coaches to make the decision to leave.

Now CJ Wilcher has become the fourth Husker to be headed to the Portal. Little supprised with this one.
Wilcher has one season of eligibility remaining.

The 6-foot-5, 214-pound Wilcher spent the past three seasons at Nebraska, where he played in 96 career games with 28 starts. He spent his first season of college basketball at Xavier.

It is not directly Husker-related, but I am not going to start a new thread for it.

The Son of Iowa's Head Coach has entered the portal. Patrick McCaffery has one year of eligibility left ( his sixth year)

Wonder if this has any hint of a retirement or change coming for Fran McCaffery. Remember there is a new AD.
After five years playing for his father in Iowa City, Patrick McCaffery has a sixth year of eligibility available. And he plans to use it elsewhere.

McCaffery has entered the NCAA transfer portal, the Register confirmed Wednesday afternoon from a source with direct knowledge of the decision. McCaffery scored a team-high 19 points in the Iowa men's basketball team's season-ending, 91-82 loss at Utah in the second round of the NIT.

I immediately thought the same thing when I saw this yesterday. Also, his youngest son, who’s a senior, has no intention of playing for his dad. So, maybe we will be getting a changing of the guard!

That would be a great thing for that program. Fran has said that he is reluctant regarding NIL, and it appears the school doesn't have much to offer the men's basketball program. It is also weird watching him coach this year. Usually he is crazy and screaming and jumping. This year, for the most part, he is just sitting on the bench with his hands in his pockets.

Either way, he did not deserve to get that extension that Barta gave him, especially for a .500 coach in the league.

Yeah with the new AD I thought for sure Fran would be gone. Maybe the extension delayed this by a year?

I didn’t watch much of the regular season but I did kinda notice his altered demeanor in the conference tourney and the NIT.

I’m telling ya, because of the contract extensions for both Kirk and Fran, she will kinda slow play this. If they don’t retire soon, she’ll let them get bad enough for just long enough before pulling the trigger, so as to not let the programs get too far gone to still be able to hire better quality candidates.

I don’t mean to high jack the thread with Iowa talk so to get it back on track…I hope this isn’t an ill-timed extension that Hoiberg just got. I know transfers are all the rage right now but these for Nebraska seem a little concerning especially after such a great run this year and the growth and strides the program seemed to make.

I don't think transfers are just "all the rage right now." I think the transfer portal is here to stay. They may tinker with it some but I don't think it's a passing fad.

Correct me if I am wrong, but the basketball schedules for 2024/ 25, let alone the following year, have not been completed yet. Some teams are known, but that is it.

It appears at least that contracts are being signed for the non conference games. I was suspicious about the timing of the announcement but they've been talking about it on 1620 as well.
