Kind of feels like an Omaha Nighthawks situation where Omaha cares more than the rest of the league members. I hope this league sustains and survives. I don't know what kind of funding the other teams/league has, but I can't imagine most of the rest of the league is making money. The money the league supposedly committed to player salaries is somewhat high and they don't have a backing like the NBA that can afford to lose money year over year, unless USA volleyball is throwing in money I don't know about.

I also don't think it's an amazing idea that Omaha is adding a second league/team right after the Supernovas season finishes. That seems like a recipe for market oversaturation and dividing of a fanbase.

Oh wait, yes. I read it wrong. says the new team debuts in January. I had read something that made it sound like it was starting later and there was less overlap. clearly, I was wrong.

Did anyone else watch the match last night? They showed some shots of downtown during transitions to/from commercials. It looked like the new Mutual of Omaha tower was only 4-5 stories tall. (to me, at least)

Was it raining? The only reason I ask, is they do that for Creighton games a lot where they show old footage. There has been several times where it was snowing when it actually was really nice out. Maybe they are using something they taped earlier in the season.

Yes, the final should also be on CBS Sports Network at 3:30. I forgot it was on last night otherwise I would’ve watched after we got home from my son’s baseball game.

become first-ever Pro Volleyball Federation champions

Co-owner of the Omaha Supernovas and popular pop and R&B star Jason Derulo came to Omaha's CHI Health Center to show his love and support for the team who made it to the first Pro Volleyball Federation Championship. The team took on the Grand Rapids Rise on Saturday in front of a massive crowd. Set one went to the Novas who tallied up 17 kills, nine digs, two blocks, and two aces for the 25-13 victory. Brooke Nuneviller smacked it down in the second set, helping the Novas win it 26-24. It was another close battle in set three, but the Novas pulled through to win it. The Omaha Supernovas are the first-ever Pro Volleyball Federation champions and are taking home the $1 million prize.

I got an email about season tickets for next year. Going to be an interesting off season. It appears as if the league will make it to season 2. I would imagine that might be a shuffling on where some franchises land. Plus you have a compettitor coming in League One Volleyball, including another Omaha franchise. Long term I just don't see both leagues and teams surviving. At best one makes it long term. Will be interesting to watch,

Before this season started the plan was to add Indianapolis, Dallas and Kansas City in 2025. Points above about lack of attendance in 2024 well taken. So maybe there won't necessarily be 10 teams in 2025 or in the same cities. To me it seems like Wisconsin and Minnesota would be no brainers for potential fan support. We sat by a couple at Saturday's championship who came down from Minneapolis. No team in the hunt but they wanted to see Tori Dixon and Stephanie Samedy who are from and/or had college careers in Minnesota.

Yeah I would definitely target mid size (or larger) cities near college volleyball hotbeds. Minneapolis and Wisconsin fit that bill. I wonder if there would be a suitable city for it in Pennsylvania?

Omaha Supernovas have highest average of fans at games
across professional volleyball teams in the world

The Omaha Supernovas released attendance numbers for their first season. The team averaged about 9,600 fans per game which was the highest average across professional volleyball teams in the world. The Pro Volleyball Federation's first champions hosted nearly 135,000 people in their first season. On opening night, Omaha set the attendance record at 11,600 fans. Then in March, fans of the Supernovas broke their own record with more than 12,000 people in attendance.

I looked at the available tickets seating chart for the SuperNovas home opener this Friday, January 10. Just an eyeball estimate on my part. But if all those sold seats have butts in them, I think we might set a new attendance record. 12,090 is the number to beat if my memory serves me correctly.

Smaller arenas but the LOV team appears mostly sold out too.

We are the center of the universe when it comes to volleyball.

Thats good to see. I just looked and it does appear that almost every single lower bowl seat is sold, which is around 10,000. I think your estimate of 12,000 is definitely possible based on the number of upper bowl tickets sold so far as well.

Fantastic news. I can't make it this Friday but plan on going more this season (just made one game last year and enjoyed it).
