Total Wine came into KC via hostile takeover, and you can't even earn loyalty points in their KC locations, lol. I don't seem to recall them having a house brand of anything. Do you have a link to their house bourbon?
In addition to Spirit World, don't forget Wine, Beer and Spirits (even though they are not in Aksarben).
Regarding the comment "they seem to be popping up all across town"...somehow Omaha held out for decades on this concept. When I'm in other cities I usually load up at these types of warehouse booze places to bring back to Omaha.

They call them "private labels" but all the same. I don't have a link because they have so many labels. Go to their website and filter to bourbon and "Spirits Direct". Bib & Tucker would be an exception in that list. Apparently Walcott is the label they push as a cheaper alternative to Buffalo Trace. The only thing those two whiskey would have in common is that both are produced at distilleries owned by Sazerac(the parent company of Buffalo Trace and Barton Distilleries). Walcott is made at Barton and thus is much more likely to have similarities to 1792(the most notable whiskey made at Barton). Costco's Kirkland Single Barrel also rumored to be 1792 juice. Even the best 1792 bottles I've had still left me feeling disappointed for the price. If you can buy a handle of it at Costco for a good price it's fine as a cocktail whiskey. The entry level Walcott starts about $30. There are much better readily available choices for the money and even under that price point.
"It's just a rendering."

Re: Aksarben Center (72 and Pine)
As I’ve gotten older my alcohol consumption has been cut by more than half, I would guess, especially at home. I enjoy a margarita (or 2) or a glass of wine (or 2) when I go out to dinner or Happy Hour, but it takes me more than 1 week to finish a bottle of wine at home. Often the bottle ends up as cooking wine. So my visits to wine and liquor stores/departments are much less frequent than they used to be. I subscribe to the newsletters from the Hy-Vee super stores and they do lure me in with their specials just before holidays. I find myself buying 6 or more bottles of wine at a time because most retailers will give you a 10 or 15% discount when you do that.
Most if not all locally owned wine shops will offer free wine tastings on a regular basis, which is a nice way to discover wines you like. I believe that Wall to Wall Wine and Spirits does the same thing. I’m curious as to whether these new “players” will do the same thing for their customers.

Wall to Wall (HyVee) is the new player (remember their booze store at 102nd and Maple years ago?). The "new" ones you refer to have been around for a long time, just not in Omaha.nativeomahan wrote: Sat May 25, 2024 5:09 pm Most if not all locally owned wine shops will offer free wine tastings on a regular basis, which is a nice way to discover wines you like.
