I live in Elmwood Park and all I care about is them having Black & Milds, cheap malt liquors and take Pay.

How about we refrain from "renaming" Mega Saver moving forward in this thread? It is not necessary, and future posts with this will be deleted without editing.
For the record NEBUGEATER does not equal BUGEATER !!!!!!!

Re: Mega Saver (SEC 72 & Dodge Street)
I think this is the crazy part. Any gas station brand would have to sell a ton of slushies and snacks to recoup their investment. They really don't make money selling gas. The profits come from the convenience store items.Brad wrote: Fri Apr 12, 2024 12:32 pmThey paid 3.7 Million for it.FishFighter92 wrote: Fri Apr 12, 2024 12:27 pm How can the real estate be affordable for a mega saver? This is why building up makes more sense. Increase your tenant base, increase rent money coming in, decrease your risk on your investment. It's their money, I guess.

Mega saver on 144th and fort seemed to sell ethnic food. I liked it and also when I smoked I found megasaver convenient. I will shop there.

Omaha residents meet with Mega Saver about concerns over new store
It was a meeting of minds between neighborhood residents, the city, and a convenience store chain at UNO Tuesday. Mega Saver is set to put in a new location where Fuddruckers used to stand near 72nd and Dodge streets, and that has some people concerned about what that will bring. The Elmwood Park Neighborhood Association put on the meeting as a chance for everyone to collaborate on coming up with ideas on the project that will make everyone happy. The neighborhood group said chief among its concerns is the traffic flow in and out of the Mega Saver location and the safety issues that would come with that. They said they would like to see Mega Saver’s access to Douglas Street closed off.

So Mega Saver's solution is dump traffic into Chipotle and Starbucks parking lot. Then it can go onto Douglas or Farnam st.

Yup. Even the street(s) behind there 71st and Dewey are basically overflow parking lots during certain times of the day.

I think so. Went to GameStop and trying to back out was difficult due to Starbucks traffic.

Mega Saver moving into old restaurant near
Omaha central library, Crossroads, concerning homeowners
A new Mega Saver gas station and convenience store is getting ready to move into the former Fuddruckers at 72nd and Dodge near the Elmwood Park neighborhood in Omaha. Dozens of homeowners brought their concerns about traffic and alcohol sales to gas station and city officials at a meeting this week. Some say they want to see something else next to the new central library and Crossroads redevelopment.
Homeowners met with Mega Saver COO Lola Khalikova, city council member Danny Begley, a city traffic engineer, and planning department official. Elmwood Park says the new gas station would bring more cars through the neighborhood and leave behind litter from customers.

Speaking of Rocket Wash, that dilapidated Arby's is still awaiting its Rocket Wash transformation.omaha79 wrote: Thu Apr 11, 2024 11:31 amI think you're forgetting something. We need a Rocket Car Wash on one corner and a Tommys Express across the street. Then, the transformation will be complete! should just scrap the whole crossroads development and put a massive car wash over there. Maybe a Dollar Tree too, but only if there's enough room.djc311 wrote: Wed Apr 10, 2024 7:53 amOMG - before Crossroads could even get off the ground (literally speaking) they're dumping a Mega Saver caddy corner to it.Padre wrote: Wed Apr 10, 2024 7:32 amBecause nothing says renewal like a Mega Saver!Coyote wrote: Wed Apr 10, 2024 6:44 am
Plan for well-known gas station fuels concern in Elmwood Park neighborhood
The Elmwood Park neighborhood will get a new neighbor, one that some are uncertain about.
- The old Fuddruckers building, near 72nd and Dodge Streets is scheduled to be the new home of a Mega Saver.
- The timeline is not set for construction.
- Mega Saver responded to concerns about hours of operation, traffic and lighting.
- Watch the video to hear from neighbors and the Mega Saver about the future development.
I’m assuming they want the corner and visibility, otherwise the proposed car wash spot down the street would have worked.
There's the demise of 72nd & Dodge.
What a sad, sad day for all Omahans.
Now they just need to drop a Club 72 - I'm guessing the guys running the infamous Club 180 would be overjoyed to put one of those in the middle of the city. I mean it's zoned for it... I don't see why any neighbors wouldn't be thrilled to have the additional revenue coming into that intersection.

i live in CB, so i don't have a dog in the fight, but this is an absolutely terrible location for a gas station. Dodge is so flippin busy that traffic slowing to enter or trying to pull out would be a nightmare at nearly all times of the day. Plus, Megasavers suck. Plain and simple. They look cheap, the name is cheap, and no matter how big they are, it seems like they have waaaay too much |expletive| to sell behind the counter (glass, hookas, kratom, etc). They may as well sell velvet coloring pages and bongs and a bunch of no-name snacks from God-knows-who. And i swear it's a requisite to burn incense in them at all times.

I've never been to a Mega Saver in CB, so I don't know what they are like there, but the couple that I regularly drive by in Omaha have all been remodeled and look nice. The 90th and Maple location hasn't been remodelled, so it just looks like a Amoco/BP station (which it used to be).thenewguy wrote: Tue Apr 30, 2024 7:47 am i live in CB

I'm also jealous of CB because you still have Super Saver (I assume you think that's a cheap name too).

Haha. I actually like super saver. For whatever reason, it doesn't strike me as cheap at all. There's a mega saver at 36th & 9th Ave, and it is not nice. I supposed if that wasn't my experience with the brand, I may feel differently.FishFighter92 wrote: Fri May 03, 2024 11:33 amI've never been to a Mega Saver in CB, so I don't know what they are like there, but the couple that I regularly drive by in Omaha have all been remodeled and look nice. The one thing that I most recall from 72nd & Dodge was that backwards drive through at Taco Bell.

Re: Mega Saver (SEC 72 & Dodge Street)
Only four pumps set back from Dodge & 72nd seems like a fair compromise, and it doesn’t appear there will be a large canopy like their other locations, just a small one directly over the pumps. Landscaping looks good too. While I’d rather them not be located on that specific property, I can live with it. Besides, EB Dodge is a fuel desert between 80th & 40th, and turning into Casey’s is a PITA.Brad wrote: Thu May 30, 2024 2:54 pm Planning Board Document

Re: Mega Saver (SEC 72 & Dodge Street)
I don't see the point now. Only 4 pumps? Maybe if it turned out to be a modern gas station like all the others with like 10, it might have served it's purpose. This tells me even more it's just going to be a beacon for cigarettes, alcohol, spice, burner phones, vagrants, and drug users. They basically took away their operating veil of "being a gas station".EricHaley wrote: Thu May 30, 2024 4:58 pmOnly four pumps set back from Dodge & 72nd seems like a fair compromise, and it doesn’t appear there will be a large canopy like their other locations, just a small one directly over the pumps. It seems like a f-you for not allowing them to do the original plan, which is just about what you can expect from that organization.

Well no, we never saw another plan. But with the talks, I was under the impression the plan was bigger than this... I mean honestly, who builds a 4 pump gas station anymore? You had the feel it was intended to be bigger, busier, noisier, and more light pollution, more on par with any of their other newer locations. That's why it would have been opposed by the neighborhood.Brad wrote: Fri May 31, 2024 8:39 amI don't ever remember seeing another plan? Now it's barely even a functioning gas station. More of a head shop that sells a little bit of gas.
And on top of it, the neighborhood didn't even get the Douglas Street entrance nixed. This is the biggest loss I can think of in a while.

Regardless of where they are throughout the area, I'm personally not a fan. But to each their own. People need burner phones.
Now that they're dumping one in the heart of the city I'm looking forward to seeing it on a postcard someday (if they still print postcards). Can't get a better landmark to showcase.
