2024 College World Series

Post by mrsticka »

It's coming up in a couple months. It's way too early to tell who will make it there. But I wouldn't be surprised if LSU made it back there this year.

Just looked and all the night games are sold out. The tickets on Ticketmaster are re-sale tickets and cheapest are about $60. I really hate the way the series is run for ticket sales. I wish they would bring back GA, but that is never going to happen. The games for the championship are already well over $100. As a casual baseball fan, that is way too much money.

On a side note, there are tickets for Tuesday's day game for $13.

Tickets to the CWS are usually pretty expensive and very hard to come by.

Field of 64 Projections:
Final edition after reveal of 16 host sites

Conference tournament week is complete, and the automatic qualifiers have been determined for the upcoming NCAA Tournament for college baseball. On Sunday evening, the NCAA announced the 16 regional host sites. Following that announcement, we have updated our Field of 64 projections for the final time ahead of Selection Monday.

While we do not yet know the order of the 16 regional hosts, we will learn that on Monday at 12 noon ET along with the full field. The selection show will be broadcasted on ESPN2. If that reveal goes anything like the host announcement, we’re in for some surprises.

Fayetteville Regional
1. Arkansas (5)
2. Nebraska*
3. TCU
4. Southeast Missouri*

Downtown Omaha tailgating sites gear up for College World Series

The 2024 NCAA Men’s College World Series is a week away. Tents are pitched, ready to welcome in college baseball fans from coast to coast. For the last week , the original mattress factory has been setting up for Baseball Village. It’ll be a spot for fans to grab a bite, a drink and watch some of the games on TV. Right across the way is the VIP section, where Blur Events has been working for the last two weeks to get their tailgate up and running. They’re excited to welcome guests back in for their 12th year.

I miss the fireworks too. I heard somewhere the teams didn't like staying out late the night before the CWS so they scrapped the whole opening ceremonies idea.

As a fan, that was one of the best moments of the CWS. Olympic style entrance, parachutes, fireworks and concert all for free. Now everything is just so corporate.

I looked a few weeks ago and tickets for any of the night games were at least $50-60 each. I like baseball but not going to spend that kind of money on college baseball.

I would love to go to a night game, does anyone know if tickets get cheaper? You used to be able to get GA tickets for $5 for some of the games where it wasn't full.....maybe those days are long gone.

The last CWS I went to was the one Coastal Carolina won, I think 2016 or something like that. The tickets for the championship game were like $15. That's nuts to hear they've gone up that much. I definitely wouldn't be spending $50-60 for any seat for any game. I could see them being that hot a ticket MAYBE if Creighton or Nebraska were playing :what:

I thought I'd check and a random opening round day game (NC State vs Kentucky ) the cheapest ticket was resale at $37 for right field. The cheapest ticket for the June 17 1pm CDT elimination game was a standard, non-resale ticket for $13. If you want to go to the first game of the finals, it will cost you a minimum of $140 and is a resale ticket.

The most expensive ticket I've found so far is a resale ticket for the first championship game (night game), sec 114 row 15, for $2,500.

Am I wrong to remember they had a Ferris Wheel here for the CWS a few years back? I heard a discussion on the radio that people should be excited for a first-time attraction at the CWS - The Farris Wheel. I sure seem to remember it at least once pre- COVID downtown

It was quite a long time ago. I would need to go look at my photos, but probably closer to the begging of the Ameritrade/Schwab era.

OK ( that would still be pre-COVID, I guess ;) ) At least I am not completely wrong on one being there.

Also, I have said time and again, but the grounds grew at Schwab Field is so much better than the one at Rosenblatt. They used to get so much credit, but every year the grass was so torn up at Rosenblatt. Obviously, it got more playing time with the Royals being there but this is night and day better!

No problem, I actually looked back through pictures on my phone b/c I knew I had some when my family went last time.

Is there an extra charge to ride it this time? The fanfest page doesn't mention a cost. Last time, I believe it was $5/person.

Okay, so LSU didn't make it to the College World Series this year.

The teams are:
North Carolina
Virginia
Tennessee
Florida State
Kentucky
NC State
Texas A&M
Florida

So they're all set.

LSU brings in a lot of people, but I think we'll get a good chunk of their folks anyways. It's nice to see a few new teams once in a while. Would have loved to have seen Evansville sneak in. Happy that Kentucky is here for the first time. Would have liked Clemson over Florida, but hey......there's some blue bloods so that should bring in some money.

Yeah, it probably would have. I guess after winning the Big Ten Tournament championship, I thought maybe they had some more gas in them.

It didn't help matching up against Florida, which seems to be the hottest team on a run right now. It will be interesting to see what they can do in Omaha

1,000-plus youth baseball teams adjust to loss of general admission College World Series tickets

This is a pretty good article about how CWS's move from GA to reserved-only outfield seating affect youth team attendance at the tourney. Apparently, between Slumpbuster and Battle of Omaha, about 1000 youth teams come to Omaha for youth baseball tournaments and to attend CWS. Even though the move to reserved-only makes it harder for youth teams to attend as frequently as they did in the past, it has not deterred teams from attending the locally held national tournaments.
