North Carolina beat Virginia 3-2 on a walk-off run. So they'll advance to the next round while Virginia is forced into an elimination game.

It looks like the next game, Florida/Texas A&M, has been postponed to tomorrow morning at 10:00 AM.

Nope, the tarp is coming off now, gates are open and first pitch is planned for 10:15pm tonight. Radio will come back on the air at 10:10pm tonight.

Oh, yeah. I saw that. Oops! Sorry. It’s going to be a very late game.

i wonder what attendance has been so far this year. Seems like the crowds are good.

We went to the field thursday morning and watched the UNC kids practice. They were all pretty nice, many of them spent a good deal of time signing autographs, which was very cool. Talked to one of the pitcher's moms and she said this was her first time in Omaha and when i told her that we were from here, she said "y'all are so lucky, this is great!"

Today's Sunday day game looked on TV to have a lot of empty seats. Think that is typical for that time slot though.

Was there for game 1 today. There were some empty seats. I’ve always thought that to be fairly normal for that time slot as an elimination game. Especially when it was as hot as it was today!

If you follow Rob Anderson on X, aside from being a living sports encyclopedia of statistics, he'll also post attendance numbers. Last night he updated:
Rob Anderson wrote:Tonight's attendance is 25,140, the largest Session 6 crowd since 25,620 in 2013.
Brings the total to 148,884 for the MCWS, the most through 6 sessions since at least 2004.

I dunno... I was at session 1 Friday afternoon and the consensus was the stadium was a little more than half full.... ?? Upper upper decks basically empty, upper deck not half full (though lots of people may have been inside the club in the AC), lower deck was packed in the last ±10 rows in the shade all around, and below that and in the outfield LOTS of empty seats. There couldn't be that many people wandering the councourse in the shade that long.

Maybe 2/3 full? I think sometimes they report "tickets sold" as attendance.
Stable genius.

As I suspected there are lot of Kentucky fans that made the trip. If they start coming even semi regularly they would be in the Mississippi State and LSU number of fans.

My connecting flight to Omaha on Friday was in Atlanta. We had a bunch of fans from the different schools on it. Kentucky had the most but next was a health contingent from Florida. First time I think I had been on a flight to Omaha and there were very few other Omahans on it.

Caglianone is one of the greatest college hitters of all time, and he is on fire right now. I can't believe that NC State pitched to him in that scenario with a base open. We will see if that is enough run support for Florida to stay alive!

That's not the case any more with modern ticketing systems. There is literally real time data available on how many people have gone through the turnstiles.

To be fiar, what the venue/event reports is a different story, certainly.

It's just the reverse version of Memorial Stadium's sellout streak, where there's been obvious gaps in the seats over the last decade but the games are still sellouts.
Stable genius.

I'd be surprised if they get all 3 in tomorrow based on the lingering morning rain in the forecast right now.

I follow sporting events all the time and the tickets sold is still how they count attendance. Yes, they also keep a tally of the number of scanned tickets, but tickets sold is still the way attendance is counted.

I love Creighton basketball and they average around 17,000 per game, but there are quite a few early season games where there are probably only 13,000 or so there.

Yeah same with Nebraska football and basketball. The attendance numbers publicly released are tickets sold. Many times there are thousands less actually there, and they do know that figure as well.

Yeah I’m pretty sure the arena/stadium PA announcers specifically say ‘ paid attendance’.

Texas A&M took Game 1 of the CWS Finals last night 9-5. Game 2 is this afternoon on ABC.

If Texas A&M wins again, they’ll win the national championship. But if Tennessee wins, they’ll force a Game 3.
