Some local construction companies also have a no photography policy on their jobsites. Employees and Sub-contractors are not allowed to take any photos.stormchaser wrote: Wed Jun 26, 2024 8:19 am From my experience with working for a company that has had several construction projects around town recently, many construction companies are against "live streams" of the construction site. Apparently OSHA is notorious for watching the live streams and picking apart every little thing being worked on and digging for violations. That isn't to say the construction companies are necessarily doing something wrong but they just don't feel like its worth having "big brother" watching them constantly either.

It was my understanding Mutuial was going to have some sort of construction Cam set up. Perhaps they scrapped it. I’m going to try and get some intel on this and if you get the feedback, I’ll definitely be posting it here…

From Midtown Crossing, from 2 different days.
You can see the tower crane of the Mutual of Omaha construction site in the distance. As you can see the tower will rise up between the larger gap between FNBO and Woodmen tower, the measurements between towers are perfect from this view.
The left towers from this view will be slightly shorter than the right towers, giving a nice stepped looked, to the center tall towers. No strange out of place, oversized, ego towers that make other surrounding skyscrapers look tiny, creating a weird skyline.

Those flowers are beautiful, I just love the beauty throughout our city.

A few more closeups as of Sun, Jun 30

There is a slight curve in the parking lot, as part of the building design

The gutting of the central towers at the top can be seen here.
PS The Riverfront has a lot of people right now and new and unique food trucks are parked.

So pretty much a third of the way there. That was fast. I still think it will - as it did - slow down increasing in height some until the garage is topped out, but still quite impressive.

You can clearly see the tower crane attachment points on the core, along with platforms underneath. I would expect to see the attachment arms going up very soon, perhaps this coming week.
Also, the floors are quite a bit taller starting on the 15th floor, which would be just above the top of the parking garage.

I noticed that too. I actually thought the lower floors really looked close together and comparing it to the UP building (which is 19 stories) at the rate the floors were going this building was going to have 25 floors before it was as tall as the UP building.

I know there have been some other posts, but here is one showing how the crane will be attached (good catch on the attachment points) I think it will really stick out even more once the crane can be raised, you will be able to see it throughout most of the metro and for those unlike us on here that follow this closely, they will get a better sense of the scope of this project.

Two different uses, two different standards. Parking garage ceiling height is a little shorter than commercial height, which usually includes plenum space for pipes, electrical, low voltage/networking, HVAC, etc

My theory is they made a miscalculation and realized "there's no way we're gonna get to 677 feet" and so corrected it starting with the 15th floor.Louie wrote: Mon Jul 01, 2024 3:08 pmThis is blatantly false. Anyway, if you made all occupied floors the same height as the garage floors it would be pretty cramped to fit all of the necessary systems in that vertical space. Commercial spaces just need that extra vertical space so they're taller than garage floors. Making garage floors the same height as commercial floors would just be a waste of resources and higher cost.

I understand the reason for the difference as well, but how are the employees going to fit their lifted jeep wranglers? In seriousness, even a new stock 1500 is hard to maneuver in a parking garage.

I hate the garage behind Pacific Life in AV. When there is a large truck, they stick out and it is very hard to get through, especially if there is another one on the other side across from it.Busguy2010 wrote: Wed Jul 03, 2024 3:00 pm

Oh I'm not a big fan either. My old Chevy 1500 is just a fraction bigger than a modern Colorado or Tacoma, or any other new midsized truck. If you have a new fullsize truck, they're made much bigger than they used to be, but that's all you can get.guy4omaha wrote: Wed Jul 03, 2024 7:09 pmLOL. For the most part, the new massive trucks they’ve been churning out the last few years are just an excuse for suburban men to flex their imagined rural bona fides.Busguy2010 wrote: Wed Jul 03, 2024 9:16 pmOh I'm not a big fan either. It honestly bewilders me that so many people drive around here in $60k+ huge trucks. I'm not that old but old enough to remember when they were the cheapest thing on the lot and actually served a purpose.

Yeah, I think we all figure that. Though, I am forgiving, if the duck driving the big truck is 6'5 or taller, I give him a pass cause it would make sense to have a large vehicle. Its when the Mallard is under 6' that it raises questions.nativeomahan wrote: Sun Jul 07, 2024 1:44 pm I grew up being told a less sanitized version of “Big truck = Small…duck”
So, since the size of available trucks is getting bigger, does that mean ducks are getting smaller? Do smaller ducks pay more for bigger trucks? IDK, I just think it's kinda silly how a full size truck got that much bigger that quickly.

Full size Trucks are better for pulling and hauling. I AM ONLY 5 FOOT SIX. GETTING IN AND OUT OF A BIG truck is inconvenient for me and my back. All of that and my tools fit better in my escape. fits better in my garage. No campers or boats to pull.
